Yesterday, Mountain, a 2 year old local mongrel took his first walk out of the shelter. He was accompanied by his best friend, Marie. They share a special bond because they were both rescued by Maria, our shelter owner on the same night about 1 year and 9 months ago.
The first two pictures are of Marie, when she was first found in Sungei Tengah. Someone had called Maria and asked if she was willing to save a puppy without a head... At the vet, it was found that Marie had been attacked by a snake and also suffered tick fever. Despite the vet's prognosis that Marie was beyond hope and would not last long, Maria continued to take care of her, feeding her both western and TCM medicine. It took a few months before Marie turned around and started to recover. Although, the scars are still visible on her neck, Marie is now healthy 2 year old lady who loves walking outside in nature.
The next few pictures are of Mountain when he was discovered in Punggol with a mangled head full of bite wounds. The vet was unsure what had bitten him but had informed that he was in very bad shape. Mountain has also recovered and is now a very active dog. Sometimes he appears shy but whenever Marie is around, he tends to open up a little more.
At the time when no one wanted to take both these badly injured doggies in, Maria did not turn away nor give up. Throughout the night, she stayed with both Marie and Mountain at the vet to make sure that they were given proper medical attention and care that they deserved.
We hope that all dogs be given a chance to live, and that other Maries and Mountains out there find someone who will not give up on them.
The first thing to introduce is this little monster who fills our home with so much love and so many laughs. This is his favourite spot to watch us all from in the house. He has a clean view to the living room and a clean view into the kitchen so he knows when somebody has food too (clever little monster).
