So last night was our last night in a hotel for a bit.
Over the passed couple of weekends Dorian insisted on making a “fort bed”. And you really can’t argue with a four year old... not over something like this anyway.
So we got an extra blanket from the front desk. He took the two bolster pillows and placed them parallel to each other. We placed the blanket over them and added two pillows, one at the head and one at the foot.
The blanket was taco style... folded in half so he could just get in.
He also wanted it under the table because, who doesn’t?!
Remember what it was like to want to sleep on the floor with lots of blankets and pillows?
I mean... so cool!
Now even if I sleep in a tent it’s not going to be without some sort of cot so I can be off the ground. But I highly doubt that would even happen.
This picture was taken as we were getting ready to check out. I couldn’t NOT take a picture. He was so excited about his fort bed.
Now I’m wondering how we are going to recreate it if he asks. 🙃
Here on @the.excellence.addiction I want to encourage you to listen with the sole intent of understanding.
Do you know someone who listens simply to reply? Share it if you feel it will help someone.
One of the most frustrating things you can experience is getting into an argument with someone who doesn't see your side, especially when you also fail to see and understand their side.
Have you ever felt like someone is just not listening to what you're trying to say to them. They disregard the points you're making because as you speak, they are not focusing on your words, but are trying to formulate their next response.
That being said, be careful to not fall into this trap yourself. When someone talks, listen. There will be time to think up a response once they finish speaking. I promise.
If we all took this lesson to heart and practiced the skill of truly listening, we'd solve a lot of our problems.
Thanks for listening to the @the.excellence.addiction! Share this around if you feel it might help someone.
