SESSION 331 - The importance of from.
This is a SUPER insightful episode from @danielglass66 as he makes a strong case for the importance of fundamental concepts like posture, grip, and playing on a practice pad.
>> What’s covered in this session:.
- An exploration of the “Master-Apprentice” relationship, and how it has played a role in the development of drumming over many generations.
How the explosive popularity of rock’n’roll in the 1960s led to a loss of that relationship.
Defining the term “Form,” learning why drummers who understand it “speak” more clearly than their peers.
Understanding key terms: “Clarity,” Consistency” and “Articulation”.
Posture – understanding how control of the pelvis can change the feel of our groove.
How playing on a practice pad can teach you more about sound.
Why grips make a difference.
Comemoro.
Finally dropped go check out this year's Radar Radio x MOBO awards cypher

"Here's a short clip of me having a blast jamming CAFO by @animalsasleaders. I remember when I first heard this song back in the day, and how it absolutely blew my mind. It was so new sounding, badass, and helped open up a new realm of music and way of playing for me. So for that I'm so grateful! Anyways, just some fun improvisation, so don't expect a full cover anytime soon lol .

Quintuplets...where can we use them? Why do we use them?
The music ALWAYS dictates where we use what we use. Don't ever forget that. In this song, I used a quintuplet fill coming out of the first chorus because I felt like it gave an "unstable" vibe to that moment in time. It worked. But it doesn't always.
If you want to see a lesson on this fill, hop over to the @drumeoofficial YouTube channel and watch their newest lesson by me "Quintuplet Drum Fill". Within that lesson context, the rhythms can sound out of place. But when we take that exact pattern and apply it to the MUSIC when it calls for it, it doesn't sound odd at all.
This song is entitled Xochytl and it's from my collaboration project with @mitchellcardenas called Bellodrone @bellodrone_music
