First lets define Functional
2. designed to be practical and useful, rather than attractive.
Balancing on a stability ball whilst doing a barbell back squat is NOT more functional than than just doing a squat. Unless you can point me to a time where you had to squat and take a shit when the floor was unbelievably unstable.
All exercises are functional and can be transferred to life task and skills… including bicep curls… because big biceps help you get laid… FACT.. And that’s pretty functional if you ask me.
Joking aside, most gyms are full of “functional equipment" and some coaches prescribe these to their clients… and that’s fine, they must have their reasoning, and some “functional Equipment” has its place but don’t let it be the base of your programming.. .
When I quote “functional equipment” I’m talking about equipment like VIPRS, water balls, etc..
Talk about VIPRS.. Some of the exercises I’ve seen used with them are the least functional movement I have ever seen, unless I actually did want to swing a sword whilst doing a forward lunge.

Standing shoulder press
The last rep is the most important one! 100kg
The standing shoulder press is an amazing exercise which targets a lot of muscle and increases the stability of your core. The most of the work is done by the front and side delts, then the rear delts, upper pectoral muscles, triceps and traps. Lower back muscles and abdominal muscles are also included in the movement as they help in stabilization.
