As I promised: the review of the @icutie_eu mejoen black contacts! I just got these 15mm beauties out of the package, rinsed & bathed them in my own contact fluid and they were ready to go. I think these are the most comfortable contacts I got from their store so far. They are black with some 'sparkles'- these sparkles are white and give the illusion of your eye shimmering more than it usually would. Perfect for cute characters with dark eyes! The cover is also very good, although you can see my own eyecolor a bit in the middle when I look into brighter light. This is only visible when you look from up close though. However Icutie does not have them in stock, they also order contacts with prescription every few months, so if you, just like me, need prescription, just send them a message, they'll be happy to help you. These contacts come in a pair with lens case and are usable for a year.
Lenses are sponsored but opinions are my own.
Lovely lunch with @kathleenhancox after a LONG fucking walk along the coast and a sea life centre. Downed my beer too quickly and paying for it now but oh well. Looking forward to a chilled out evening tomorrow playing #dungeonsanddragons with my regular group online via shoddy Hotel WiFi. #nerds#geeks#gamers#selfie
(swipe for more photos) ¶ On the title page of the Dungeon Masters Guide, released in 1979, is a subtitle: A Special Reference Work. There is no truer statement. ¶ There are two polarities of early Dungeons & Dragons. The Arneson/Holmes/Moldvay pole sought looser rules and a more improvisational play style. Gygax, on the other hand, wanted a rule for every situation that might come up. Though the book is massive and features fairly small print, there are limits to how comprehensive 240 pages can be. The result is an idiosyncratic portrait of Gygax’s priorities. ¶ A lot of it makes sense. Clerics will likely need holy water, so there should be rules for how to make it. A lot if doesn’t (weapon speed). A lot of it is odd, like this quote, which constitutes an entire section listed in the table of contents, “It is important for DMs to remember that in order to be reflective, a mirror must have a light source.” There are contradictions, like the assassin’s poison ability vs. Gygax’s thoughts on the place of poison in a campaign. There’s the wonderfully quirky, like the amazing random dungeon generator. ¶ I think that, while players get to be warriors and wizards and what have you, the point of first edition DMs is to roleplay Gygax himself, as accurately as the Dungeon Masters Guide makes possible. ¶ The cover is another David C. Sutherland III effort, this time depicting combat with an ifrit. The back cover is a view of the City of Brass (note the Toys R Us price tag). It is overall an under-illustrated book, mostly featuring small spot illustrations of adventurers in sticky situations. The rust monster cartoon I reproduce here is a favorite; a weird one is the displacer beast corpse on page 223 (killed by blink dogs?). The most notable is Dave Trampier’s full-page illustration of Emirikol the Chaotic. If Helen of Troy launched a thousand ships, Emirikol filled the head of a thousand DMs with ideas. We’ll probably come back to him in detail later. ¶ #DnD#DungeonsAndDragons#ADnD#AdvancedDungeonsAndDragons#TSR#RPG#TabletopRPG#GaryGygax#Classic#DavidCSutherlandIII#1979#FirstEdition#DungeonMastersGuide#DaveTrampier#DAT#Emirikol#CityofBrass
Conjure Tüber (druid spell)
2nd level conjuration
Casting Time: 10 Minutes
Range: 30 ft
Components: V, S
You summon a giant, magical potato with legs. Appearing in an unoccupied space within range, the potato has the statistics of a warhorse, though it is a plant instead of a beast. Additionally, it has no attacks, but it gains the ability to understand one language of your choice that you speak.
The potato serves you as a mount, both in combat and out, and you have an instinctive bond with it that allows you to move as a seamless unit. While mounted on the potato, you can make any spell you cast that targets only you also target your steed.
When the potato drops to 0 hit points, it disappears, leaving behind no physical form. You can also dismiss the potato at any time as an action, causing it to disappear.
While the potato is within 1 mile of you, you can communicate with it telepathically.
You can't have more than one potato bonded by this spell at a time. As an action, you can release the potato from its bond at any time, causing it to disappear.
Ix-nay on the wishing for more wishes!
Say...that's a nice lamp.
Rolled a 15 and a 14. The good old T-800 gets much well deserved love, but the T-1000 needed some representation in this challenge, too! It actually seems like a perfect fit for a mashup with a djinni since it could fit inside a lamp if it wanted to. Or just....be the lamp.
It was fun to do some digital coloring but I'm not happy with the way the liquid metal "tail" turned out. Also my old Bamboo tablet is begging for replacement because it would just randomly freak out and throw my lines way off to the side for no apparent reason.

Oh my, #d20monstermash crew...we near the end. You pulled brilliant critters into being, made us laugh, given us nightmares and inspired moments of shock & awwwww at the gaming table.
Since there is probably something you've been itching to draw that the dice have not cooperated with, @bexbloomfield & I, as your DMs of this challenge, grant a free day for our last day. We hope to bring it back on the future (...maybe a Halloween theme?) And we really, really appreciate all your amazing creative output. We should eclipse 300 entries in the end and it was better than I ever imagined.
I'm planning on doing some of the #dungeomdrawingdudes prompts and my own projects in July. Hope to see you there.
Woo hoo I got inspiration for encouraging our firebug warlock, whose patron is the Undying Light, to set a stable on fire (normally my character - a Rogue - is very much against light or fire) and set fire to the many-legged horse monster waiting for us inside.

Day 9: Favourite character you haven't played.
A Dragonborn Paladin
I have controlled a human paladin NPC paladin called Sir Alban but never played one. I have seen Dragonborn Paladins before and they look fun to play. Hopefully one day I'll get to play one. A blue Dragonborn Paladin of Tempus. #dungeonsanddragons
