On Sunday, we did an awesome workshop with @newtonandpott here in London. We came home with 2 bags of ferments and jams and learned a lot in the process. We made pear and lavender jam, red cabbage sauerkraut, apple and tomato chutney and gin pickled cucumbers.

For the past couple months I’ve ordered organic and seasonal fruit and veg from Growing Communities- a Hackney and Dagenham non-profit organization with a mission to provide a “real, practical alternative to the current damaging food system - changing what we eat, how we eat and how it's farmed.” I highly recommend anyone in the above mentioned boroughs checks it out. It’s the same price or cheaper than the average supermarket, and the food lasts forever! Unlike buying from Whole Foods which leaves you bankrupt and with food going bad 2 days after purchase. Plus there’s no plastic packaging (something that drives me absolutely INSANE) or carbon footprint.
And the fruit and veg tastes SO MUCH BETTER. It really does. Especially the apples. I now feel like I’ve been eating imposter apples from the supermarket all my life and have been robbed of the real thing.
Plus, getting a bag of dirt covered carrots and a Peter Rabbit style cabbage is just so cute. I actually love smelling the soil and cleaning them off each week.... makes me feel like a real “farmer’s wife”. Not really.
Also, for anyone who doesn’t have a garden in London (and who does?), you can show up and volunteer on the urban farms- reconnecting you back to the seasons and bringing you back to nature (yoga insert). Aaah😊. Okay, that’s all.
