I don’t love the processed dairy free versions you can buy so I make my own. I’m lazy and make it on mass and freeze some (freezes fine). 👍💯🎯 I think it’s delicious as does everyone I’ve made it for so far HOWEVER, you can’t really compare it to ‘real’ cheese. It’s just a yummy plant based substitute not really a super similar taste / texture.

This is my go to recipe for sun dried tomato cashew cheese (Pictured on kale crisp nacho’s 😋)

💚 2 heaped tablespoons Nutritional yeast 💚 1 cup raw cashews (soaked for a couple of hours or covered in boiling water for a couple of minutes)
💚 1/4 cup sun-dried tomatoes (I put them in boiling water with the cashews for a couple of minutes)
💚 1 tablespoon of garlic powder.
💚 1 tablespoon of onion powder.
💚 1 teaspoon of chili flakes.
💚 1 teaspoon of sea salt.
To make the cashew cheese: Drain the cashews and sun-dried tomatoes. Use food processor to blend both with 2 heaped tablespoons nutritional yeast and also the garlic powder, onion powder, chill flakes and sea salt. 😋🌱🧀🌱😋

So today I want to talk about iron! Many people are not getting the adequate amount of iron needed daily even though the sources are readily available in a variety of food! When iron levels are low it can be lead to fatigue, weakness, and more, so it's important to get in your iron! There are many different sources and also promoters to absorb more iron and some that foods that inhibit iron absorption that should be avoided when eating meals full of iron. 🍹🌊☀️👙This is such a happy pic and takes me back to a day by the sea last month, after our Mallorca wedding. I didn't post it earlier because I didn't like the appearance of my back rolls in it, which even I know is ludicrous because a) my skin is basically just folding from the way I'm sitting b) I was in good shape and feeling healthy and happy at the time and c) it is a travesty to allow the negative body image devil on your shoulder destroy lovely pictures and happy memories in this way 👹⚔️ I can bet that most people looking at this picture see a happy gal with a cocktail in the sun. Made pavlova for the girls in work tonight 😍 @_undiscoveredsw helped me to work out that there were 111 syns in this bad boy but then I needed to add more cream so it is more like 160syns!!! 😱 terrifying! So I ate 1/8 which is 20 syns. Turkey chili has got to be one of the easiest meals to prep in advance! You pretty much throw everything in a pot and you’re good to go for a few meals 😎 I always use @ambitiouskitchen best healthy turkey chili recipe and it literally is the best turkey chili 😂 this time I had a zucchini on its way out, so I chopped it up and threw it in! Can’t even taste it 🤷‍♀️ side note: chili tastes best with copious amounts of tortilla chips on the side 😉

Dinner: Chicken, ham & mushroom pie 👌🏻 This recipe is from the SW website, it originally used 5 syns worth of  pastry for the top but I went for mashed potato instead to keep the syns down. I'm rounding this portion up to a syn as we  got 3 portions instead of 4. Dinner: Chicken, ham & mushroom pie 👌🏻 This recipe is from the SW website, it originally used 5 syns worth of pastry for the top but I went for mashed potato instead to keep the syns down. I'm rounding this portion up to a syn as we got 3 portions instead of 4. It hasnt really felt like Soup 🍜 weather in Boston but today was a bit dreary so I'm taking full advantage of any comfort meals I can have. I love making big batches of soup for the week. This Quinoa and Kale Soup was highly adapted from @cookingclassy {search for it on her blog} , I just omitted the chicken and swapped chicken broth for veggie broth and it still tasted amazing! First time in a doctors office since starting my functional medicine journey. Since I made the appointment months ago I figured I'd go... why not. But, I am, quite frankly not feeling it. 
The questions on the paperwork cover ... nothing. The front desk staff are...rude. I've been waiting for 40 minutes and it doesn't seem like that wait will end soon. 
And I'm sure I'll have more crap to talk once I leave. 
#lessonlearned. I respect medicine, I respect doctors, but there is a better approach. And there are ways to get better other than suppressing symptoms with medication. #foodismedicine

I seriously contemplated skipping H⚡️GH this morning. The lingering effects of a cold from last week have zapped my energy and I knew I’d be struggling. BUT, I went. And I had to scale a lot but I finished it! 🙌🏼 The thought of my delicious chocolate protein shake kept me going.. 😂 Until I got home and realized I was out of the spinach/kale I always put in my smoothies. 😭 Guys, I have to stick with routine. It won’t taste the same without it. Enter plan B. I pulled out one of the ginormous bags of peaches I froze this summer and mixed up an almond milk, banana, peach smoothie, with crushed ice and 3 scoops of @teraswhey Bourbon Vanilla protein powder. Ummm, it’s REALLY good. Like, dessert good. 😍 And I’m super impressed with myself that I realized I can drink my shakes while I’m in the shower! 😂 Multitasking is where it’s at folks! Happy Monday! 👌🏼

Dinner today was "German ravioli" with veggies and tomato sauce 🤙😻 (+ my newest addiction: garlic salt 😅) -
So my sister moved from the closed ward to the general ward. It's a big change for her because it's freer and a new setting - new fellow patients, new caretakers, new therapy. 
She is now also allowed to leave the clinic with fellow patients and to not eat every meal there. Of course it's more difficult because she has to decide what to eat and not only eat because she's forced to. But it (hopefully) will make her stronger and the illness weaker. Staying in your comfort zone is not getting you anywhere..

I'm still carrying the extra weight I mentioned a couple of posts ago but my arms are ignoring that and still looking XTRA lean as usual 😂 with the vascularity I've got going in I won't need a Halloween costume just need to do an arm workout!! If only my abs would stay as visible... 😔

Zum Abendessen gab es heute eine Portion Waffeln mit Magerquark (gepimpt mit dem Heidelbeer Fruchtpulver von @frooggies) und einem #LOWerCARB #proteinriegel von @powersystemsport 😍 Der Teig für die Waffeln ist übrigens die Mischung von @baketastic_de - die ist also auch vielseitig einsetzbar 😎 
Jetzt geht's noch ans #mealprep für morgen und dann noch mal an den Schreibtisch -> Masterarbeit 🎓
