VEGTABLES: CAN YOU EAT AS MUCH AS YOU WANT? - PART 1

This post was inspired by my buddy @megamartycoach. Give him a follow because he’s super smart.

Before I start, I absolutely encourage you to eat a variety of vegetables .
Have you ever been told to “load up” on vegetables because they’re practically zero calories?
.
Maybe you took this advice to heart and you’re still wondering why, despite eating healthfully, you’re not losing weight.
.
The fact is, vegetables, although are an important source of fibre and micronutrients, do have calories and, as with all good things, you CAN have too much of them. .
Not all vegetables are created equal in the calories department.
.
Not to mention there’s always going to be people that hear this advice and go to town on vegetables. Which gives me this weird visual of vegetables on the loose in Vegas😂.
.
Then there’s the question of how you’re preparing your vegetables or eating them.
.
Some people will eat their veggies raw or steam them. You’re probably going to do just fine. But if you’re coming from a place of eating tasty junk foods you’re more likely to match the extra veggies, however they’re prepared, with a whole lot of condiments like Thousand Island dressing or Ranch dressing etc.
.
So you see, the advice of loading up on veggies is WAY TOO simplistic and can be potentially terrible advice. No help at all.
.
Something you eagle eyed people may have  noticed is I’ve included carrots. Even though they’re relatively lower in calories I’ve still put them in there.
.
WHY?
.
The problem is, some people will use it as a crutch to ward off hunger between meals and chomp on them endlessly and mindlessly.
.
Remember, it all adds up.
.
This post dealt with making you more aware of the calories in certain vegetables, next time I'll also give you ideas on vegetables to keep your calories low while bulking out your meals.

Breakfast scenes this morning.. Soft yet Crisp Oil-free Dosa with Vengayam Thakkali Chutney (Onion Tomato Chutney)

This is a very typical chutney that my mother-in-law makes, just that I use just a tsp of oil (for tempering at the end) against her 2-3 tbsp 😆 and yet it turns out good, considering it is low calorie.

Back and biceps day today!!! I can't wait. This a throw back from a few weeks ago. Maybe I can crush some PRs today. I always get the best workouts with @suppes204 he motivates me to lift heavier and makes me feel safe that if I drop anything he's there to catch it.  Except the bench press bar that one time!!! Bahaha just kidding.

Ahhh I’ve been literally thinking about this caption for the past three days now, so here we go.... •

I had a client ask me the other day how it’s so easy for me to stick to a diet or clean eating.... and I responded with “it never used to be easy, and I’ve struggled and had a lot of defeat along the way” 
What do I mean by this? Well..... let’s start with the fact that... two years ago I literally didn’t know a single thing about dieting, I would experiment with different things and try and eat what I thought was best. 🤷🏼‍♀️ basically I was lost.

When I started competing everything started to make sense, what foods did what for your body. I loved how I looked when I competed, I did really well my first three shows....

Okay fast forward. This time last year I was in prep for my fourth show The Arnold 2017. I did everything I was supposed to, & that was the best I had ever looked. So I had two shows planned after The Arnold and I completely lost control of eating, I mean absolutely the worst I have ever ate in probably 5-6 years.

I was eating things I never would have ever ate, spoonfuls of peanut butter and Nutella, I was eating ice cream with peanut butter, literally like any combination of food I was eating and I was doing it when no one saw me because everyone I was close with knew I had a show in 6 weeks. Long story short I was very unhappy and unpleased with myself my next two shows

OKAY NOW TO THE PART I HOPE EVERYONE CAN RELATE TO....

I learned, and I made mistakes but you have to fail to succeed. Of course not everyone needs to be dieting and eating like a competitor if you just want to be healthy, I learned how to not binge eat food. I know what it feels like to fall off of your schedule or lose all control, I know what it feels like to gain weight like crazy! I can relate to that!

I’ve learned little tricks and things you can do to prevent that from happening again, if you’re struggling ask questions below and I’ll do my best to answer and give you alternatives 💕❤️

But don’t give up on yourself because we have to go through these things to teach us, don’t get frustrated with yourself, learn from it and move forward!

Today has been one of those days. One of those days where I had a handful of Pringles and a cooķie.. ok two cookies, for lunch. This morning at playgroup Harry achieved toddler tantrum level expert while I ran after him, boob hanging out, trying to feed Megan. It wasn't our finest moment and neither was carrying him over my shoulder kicking and screaming to the car while a lovely lady carried Megan for me. I'll be honest there was an insane amount of snot and tears, and that was mostly from me.  We then had a further meltdown because Harry wanted a treat and I sure as hell wasn't going to give him one. At least that was in the privacy of our own home.  There are days when I think I've cracked this parenting lark and then others where I wonder why on earth I'm allowed to be left in charge of these two tiny humans. I was very close to driving to Alistair's office, dumping the kids with him and hiding in a bar around the corner. Instead though I decided to put on my big girl pants, have a cup of tea and get on with it. The afternoon has been better, thank goodness. Harry's had freezer food for tea. Homemade turkey burgers that I'm very grateful to Kayley from last month for freezing and some wedges (from a packet). There's some veg on there too. Its as close to a win as I feel i'll get today. Here's to wine, The Apprentice and sleepy kids this evening!! Fingers crossed xxx
