Hey folks! I hope you're enjoying the weekend! I was scheduled in for college both Sat + Sun, but decided to give myself a day off yesterday, as I've been non-stop this week. Last Sunday, I became a proud Auntie to baby Scarlett 👶 so I've been driving between counties to see her as I can't get enough of the cuteness! 💖
So I did a last minute lecture date switch + felt very grateful to have some free time!🙏 ...a) to catch up on life admin + b) to chill with Rob - who I've not seen in a week even though we live together! Today though, I'm raring to go for my clinic lecture! Clinic days are always super interesting, especially when we get to observe consultations between a practitioner + client.👀 ➖
So over to my lecture - ANTIOXIDANTS.🤓👇
Antioxidants are substances that inhibit a natural process called oxidation. This process happens when an oxygen atom steals electrons from another atom, which causes DNA damage when it occurs in the body. Once electrons are stolen from one atom, this atom then does the same to other atoms. So it sets off a huge chain reaction - which we do not want! Antioxidants are there to stop this process from happening + thereby protect our precious cells from ageing + disease.🙏
Antioxidant compounds are created naturally in the body, although certain factors such as poor diet, smoking, stress, environmental toxicity + genetics can hinder their formation. This is where healthy, organic wholefoods come into the story.😊🍏 Antioxidant-rich foods such as blueberries, goji berries + dark chocolate 🍫 have the power to stop free radical damage to our cells, by donating their electrons to unstable molecules, instead of stealing them. This gives other molecules stability so that they are less likely to react with oxygen + other damaging free radicals.
If you want to boost your antioxidant intake + help prevent diseases such as dementia, heart disease + cancer, it's a good idea to look online for the ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) scores for foods. This value indicates the capacity to prevent oxidative damage.⚡ Would you believe blueberries have a score of 9,621, whereas dark chocolate scores 20,816!😮

Vital Farms hosted their “Bullsh*t-Free” brunch today, and I was as happy as a clam at high tide to be there. I had the opportunity to meet and talk with some super sweet, like-minded women— including having some v questionable conversations with @savoringtheflavoring (!!!!!!!) that I will never forget 😂😆 We were given the inside into Vital Farms and their standards/practices.
We discussed agricultural sustainability, conscious capitalism, BUTTER, ethical production, the humane treatment of their ladies, and the very distinct differences between “cage-free” eggs and pasture-raised eggs. Simply put, “cage-free” is bullsh*t. Happy hens produce more nutritionally rich eggs— as evidenced by the vibrantly orange yolks. Like in all things: you scratch their backs, they’ll scratch yours.

I believe it’s especially important to teach these things to young girls of today. I want to teach Farrah to love EVERYONE regardless of differences and to not be judgmental. Positivity and love is SO rewarding and I want her to know that LOVE WINS. always. 💕
Date night to the movies with hubby! Five years ago today we became “official” 💕 I packed dried mango and cashews for “movie snacks” - and my water bottle! Try not to feel like you have to sit at home while doing @whole30 , think through what will work for you and go do it! It’s pretty crazy thinking about how much food and alcohol 🍷 🍺 are part of what we do....and let me tell you- it feels AMAZING not having hangovers with greasy food - and STILL having fun 🤗
Another Nashville legend. @hattiebs Hot Chicken has been cranking out hot chicken out for years and have it perfected. Peep the color on this southern original. The most tender, juicy flavorful fried chicken I’ve ever eaten. Picked up a large dark meat, hot chicken sandwich and sides.

Completed week 1 back and shoulders today 💪🏻 Felt so great getting into the gym on a SATURDAY! (Has been a long time 🙈) Starting out with low weights to build strength, my neck gets so tight and causes pain and headaches after lifting (especially when doing back and shoulders) Hoping consistency will bring increased strength 🔜 🤗 Since it was a beautiful day out also did an outside LISS walk with the hubs, and may have made a pit stop into @lululemon 🛍

spent the morning puttering around in the kitchen, drinking matcha and baking granola ☺️ currently working on a chocolate reishi sprouted buckwheat granola recipe and this was the first go at it. will be making a few adjustments to up the cluster factor next time 🍫🍄👌🏻 but it tasted absolutely delicious and can’t wait to share the recipe once perfected!

Avocado, feta cheese, organic micro greens, soft scrambled eggs with sautéed spinach & berries for those antioxidants.
I look forward to weekends so much because I get to slow down a little bit & do things I enjoy! Like getting a manicure 💅🏻 & going out for dinner & a drink with my fiancé, which is always so relaxing & nice!
