2 weeks ago I attended a fermentation workshop at @fairfaxbackyardfarmer and finally learned how to make my own sauerkraut and other fermented goodies, thanks to @kraut_source. Fermented foods are an excellent source of probiotics and once you learn how, it's so easy to make. Plus it's really cheap! (Just cabbage + salt + spices) . I can't wait to see how this batch turns out with fresh ginger, mustard seed, celery seed and turmeric💥 •

Last Thursday I woke up early and traveled to @murrayfamilyfarms to collect edible leaves for a client to sample. As farmer Steven Murray and I picked leaves and tasted fruit I was also snapping photos and soaking up all the education he was casually dropping while he worked. 
In the pickup truck, as I looked down at this beautiful box, I became very aware that I have the unique opportunity to do the exact work that I want to do. The road here wasn’t without stress, or tears, and LOTS of hard work, but it has been and continues to be pretty spectacular ✨

Well hopefully :) First preheat oven to 425f and toss spiralized beet noodles in avocado oil @chosenfoods and sea salt lay out on a baking sheet spread out well and roast until crispy! About 20 -25 min. While that's cooking toss spinach, sunflower sprouts, chopped pears, snap peas, avocado and good ole raisins in a bowl with some nice quality extra virgin olive oil & balsamic vinegar. Top with crispy beet noodles and eat with hummus and everything sprouted seed crackers @simplemills !! Hope you enjoy. 🌳🍂🍁🌻🍴🍞☕FINISHED making my homemade pumpkin butter this morning. I'm sharing some if the process in my stories. But I took an entire 8quarts of my homemade organic pumpkin puree (scroll down my feed, I showed how I prepare mine😀) some white AND brown sugar, good homamde vanilla, pumpkin spice, Saigon cinnamon, and ground all spice. I put mine in the croc pot all day (24hrs). It's like, the BEST smell everrrr. Be really careful with how much of each spice you add, including the vanilla. Most times when people make pumpkin pie, butter, cake etc. They use WAY too much dry spice. These spices end up tasting burnt in the end product. So I add a little at the time throughout the cooking process if I need to. I do 2 cups of each type of sugar when I'm making this much at one time. I usually have 2-4 croc pots going at one time hahah. But I'm only doing 1 today. Same thing with the sugar though, add 2c of each to begin with. Later in the cooking time, taste the pumpkin. Once you do that deeper into the cooking process, you'll see how well it's all melding together, and then be able to add more of something if you want. What's that old saying, it's easier to add things in when cooking than take away. If you Salt something too much, it's really hard to balance that out. Same concept goes for sweet foods as well. Sugar and spices can kill a dish just as fast as salt. But I wanted to show the look of the cooked pumpkin puree, and the bright orange; to what it looks like at the end of the cooking process! I usually have 2-4 croc pots going at one time hahah. But I'm only doing 1 today. Same thing with the sugar though, add 2c of each to begin with. Later in the cooking time, taste the pumpkin. Once you do that deeper into the cooking process, you'll see how well it's all melding together, and then be able to add more of something if you want. What's that old saying, it's easier to add things in when cooking than take away. If you Salt something too much, it's really hard to balance that out. Same concept goes for sweet foods as well. Sugar and spices can kill a dish just as fast as salt. But I wanted to show the look of the cooked pumpkin puree, and the bright orange; to what it looks like at the end of the cooking process! 1/4 cup sugar free maple syrup (I use @lakantosweetener sugar free maple syrup sweetened w monk fruit)
10 drops of stevia or to desired sweetness @nowfoodsofficial 
1 tbs apple cider vinegar @bragglivefoods 
1 tsp vanilla
1 tbs pumpkin pie spice @traderjoes 
1 tbs ghee @traderjoes 
1 tbs lemon, juiced 
1 tsp ground cinnamon
pinch sea salt

Add all ingredients to a large saucepan or pot over medium-high heat and stir to combine.
Once it begins bubbling, reduce heat to low and simmer. Make sure there's a low frequent bubble, so if there isn’t much going on at the surface, increase heat to medium-low heat. If bubbling too much, reduce heat to low.
Cook, uncovered, for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Cook for at least 20-minutes, if you cook for another 5-10 minutes flavors will deepen and thicken. However, 20 minutes will work fine.

This rhubarb and orange custard tart is not the prettiest but boy is it tasty 😋 Sweet, crumbly shortcrust pastry, golden baked custard and soft rhubarb with a hint of orange zest. Previously I would have cheated and bought ready made pastry but this shortcrust recipe is SO easy. I'll be putting the recipe on the blog this weekend.
