Making resolutions is a declaration to yourself that change it possible and that there is room to grow. I love looking at all the areas of my life and seeing where I have grown and where I need change. There is something exciting and empowering about making myself one step closer to being the best version of myself. I have one health goal for 2018 that I'm really excited about

2017 (& many years before) have been revolved around "healing" chronic pains of my body. Physical pain has made me desperate to try "this protocol" or that extreme diet in efforts to find any sort of healing. But for the past month and in 2018, my goal is no longer "healing. If there is something I've learned in 2017, it's that our body is always fighting for us. It wants to heal. But sometimes putting it through strict, constant, rigorous effort & protocols & elimination diets can actually really stress it out. And, like everyone with pain conditions knows, stress normally results is worse flare ups 🤦🏽‍♀️I think the body just wants to be loved, and giving trust back to my body is a goal I have for 2018. Following a plant-based, vegan diet has already transformed my health from the place it was at 5 months ago 🍓 But I have still had my moments of pain where I begin to over-control. I begin stressing out that I could be doing MORE to fix myself. But I think what my body is asking for right now is trust, time and variety in all the good plant foods 🥗

My 2018 is all about cultivating a sustainable, cruelty-free and loving way of eating that I can enjoy, live by and feel relaxed (not stressed) while doing. I want to encourage people fighting to “heal” themselves to stress a little less and trust a little more. That way more energy can be devoted to people/things outside yourself! THATS IMPORTANT. Try to find a good naturopath and remember to breathe. You are doing the best you can do, and that's all your body is asking for 🌼

I didn't get to do a big prep session last weekend due to all the family activities, but I had my slow cooker pick up some of the slack today. I made a variation on one of my favourite recipes from @mickeytrescott's cookbook, the Moroccan lamb stew. I used beef heart instead of lamb because that was waiting in the freezer to be used up soon, I used apricots instead of dates, I used half parsnip/half carrots rather than all carrots, and I added a pinch of ground cumin because it's a successful #aipreintro for me and I love it. Oh, and I chopped up the oranges whole instead of zesting and juicing them, I like how it adds little flecks of soft bitterness to the final dish. But otherwise I strictly followed the recipe! And honestly, this is as strict as it gets between me and recipes. I served my stew with fluffy cauliflower rice.

The contents of my fridge dictated that lunch would be a salad with leftover smoked mackerel, sweet potato, arugula and endive, and I added a handful of olives and a green onion to jazz it up. But despite the deliciousness of the ingredients, the horrible weather made me eat the first office lunch of this week without much enjoyment. I'm cold, sleepy, and feeling like stews and soups and tea - anything hot and comforting. At least I have the slow cooker on with something warm to look forward to when I get home.

I found my food heaven: a gluten-free plant-based restaurant serving a six-course set menu in a restored farmhouse. Most ingredients were harvested in the morning for this evening’s dishes. We started out by sampling local fruits and then slowly worked our way through a soup course, a salad course, a savory appetizer, an entree, and dessert. Every course was simply incredible - delicious, fresh, creative, and refined. Pictured is the amazing restorative soup topped with macadamia nut “Parmesan.” We have already made reservations to return again in a few days. I am so happy that places like this exist!

My last comp was November and then I had some off season maintenance for a few weeks. Eating keto has magical powers for PL I'm telling u, I used to eat the world's supply of carbs before,  during and after my training I was constantly ravenous... Now it's a breeze.  I'm still getting great numbers but I'm not eating anything over 20g carbs.... My husband went to a little organic market this morning and brought back a bunch of these little strawberry papayas. They are juicy and sweet and amazing, and I’m going be eating one every day! This brunch features another of my January food picks: leeks; a good source of vitamin k and folate. Leeks can be a comforting sweet addition to the January diet being at its peak for harvesting! 
Leek and potato cakes with sautéd spinach and sea vegetables, pickled beets and fermented carrots with grapefruit and Rosemary kefir. 
This combo is a great source of iron, vitamin c, iodine, calcium, vitamin k and Probiotics.

Obviously the rice is an #aipreintro, as well as the omelet we used for a few rolls, but the rest was #totesaip: sustainably caught tuna, Cornish crab, smoked mackerel, and wild shrimp for fillings, and horseradish instead of wasabi, freshly grated ginger to add more heat, and coconut aminos instead of soy sauce on the side. We used avocado, cucumber, green onions and radishes as veggie fillings, and switched to endive cups when we ran out of nori.

Good morning everyone. I hope you all slept well and had some lovely dreams. #Breakfast was prune puree with some almonds and cinnamon, a cup of orange tea and a glass of buttermilk. I promised you guys an update to what’s going on right now…well…a lot is going on. I’ve fallen back into my rituals and obsessive compulsions. My psychiatrist increased my dosis…so right now im trying to adapt to the new amount. My anxiety is horrible, and honestly - my parents (especially my dad) isn’t helping at all. He’s always ridiculing my anxiety with comments such as “Just stop” or “ No, stop with that”  My mom is too afraid to say something or even go against my dad. I’m not sure…I know he’s probably just stressed and stuff, but he really just makes me feel like I’m annoying. My dad is usually a loving and caring father; except when he’s stressed…then he just turns so….I don’t know…distant. But we’re going into town today, so I think it’s getting much better.  I still struggle a lot with eating, and I’m really trying my best. I just want my parents (especially my mom) to believe some more in me. Thankfully, I’ve got the most amazing best friends, who always manage to turn my frown upside down.  Anyways; The to do list for today: - Change Otto’s cage - Grocery Shopping - A small trip into town with my parents. We’re going to look for some neat LP’s!

Paleo Maple Doughnuts! They are light and moist- not as dense as many paleo doughnuts I've made due to the 4 eggs. Most importantly: Kid approved!! .
DOUGHNUTS:
4 eggs
1/4 c coconut oil
1/4 c canned coconut milk
1/4 c maple syrup
2tsp vanilla extract
1/2 c almond flour
2 tbsp coconut flour
1 tsp cinnamon 
1/2 tsp baking soda
Pinch of sea salt
Bake 350 for 10-12 min in a doughnut pan
GLAZE:
1/3 c maple syrup 
2 tbsp almond butter 
2 tbsp coconut milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
Pinch of sea salt
(Make caramel in the stove top, cover baked doughnuts)

I have spent more time meal prepping and planning which isn’t a strong suit of mine (affirmations) but I am down weight and I feel empowered!
