Currently rolled in a ball in my bed dreading facing the cold weather 😴 ❄️ Instead, I’m thinking of sunshine and loaded smoothies 💃☀️ My go to green smoothie recipe 👉🏻 1/2 frozen banana + 1/4 avocado + 1 cup frozen blueberries + a huuuge handful of spinach + 1/2 cup vanilla almond milk + a spoonful of chia seeds + 1 scoop vanilla protein powder (I use @nuzest_usa — code “mb_withasideofpb” for a discount & free shipping 😛) Aaaand what’s a smoothie without toppings? I always top mine with my favorite granola (@purely_elizabeth) and some sort of nut butter! CHEERS 🥂

🍫 The milk chocolate bar has a whooping 44g carbs, 41g sugar only 2g fiber and 370 calories! The dark chocolate bar shown on the other hand had 13g carbs, 6g sugar, 5g fiber & 250 calories. With dark chocolate, you’ll feel fuller faster with the add fiber & won’t go through such a big insulin spike & crash.

🌽 Vegetable oil and canola oils are highly processed, heated, bleached, refined and deodorized. The hight heat these oils go through have negative impact on the healthy compounds in the oils & are stripped of much of their omega-3 fatty acids in the processing. Extra Virgin Olive oil is produced by cold pressing and doesn’t use chemicals for refinement & also avoids high heat treatment, leaving it full of heart healthy fats.

🥑 Sour cream adds about 40 calories & 6g of fat per quarter cup but doesn’t add much nutritionally. Guacamole on the other hand adds antioxidants, about 4g of fiber, potassium + more per quarter cup. Plus, you get all the heart healthy fats from the avocado.

Preps chicken veggie soup for the week pretending it’s actually cold in SoCal 🤷🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️. This is my fave soup to prep, it’s filled with lots of nutrients to fuel your body right!

Chicken veggie soup
1 Tbsp @chosenfoods avocado oil
1/3 onion diced
3 carrots diced
1 zucchini diced
1 small head of broccoli chopped
4 celery stalks diced 
2 garlic cloves minced
Handful of cilantro
1 Tbsp @primalpalate amore seasoning
Couple shakes of coriander, cumin, smoked paprika, turmeric
Salt and pepper to taste
2 organic chicken breast diced
1 package @bonafideprovisions chicken bone broth and 1-2 cups water
Juice of one lemon

Sauté all the veggies for about 5 minutes. Then add in garlic, cilantro, and seasoning and cook for a couple minutes. Add in bone broth, water, and lemon juice, bring to boil. Add in diced chicken and simmer for 30 minutes. Enjoy with @sietefoods almond flour tortillas and lots of avocado.

Hope everyone has all of their shopping done...I always try my hardest to get gifts finished before the week of so I can slow down and really prepare for the holiday (and remind myself of why this is a holiday to begin with). We meal prepped some pretty simple meals for the week since we’ll be spending lots of time with family, one of which is this taco bowl!

Taco bowls are one of my very favorite things to make - mostly because they’re easy, but also because they’re very versatile! Here we’ve got ground turkey with taco seasoning, sweet potatoes, onions + peppers, tomato sauce, + cilantro over a bed of spinach and topped with green olives + nutritional yeast. So quick to throw together and so delicious 🤤

Who else needs a clutter-free space to breathe easy? 🙋🏻‍♀️ Last week I learned the hard way that a cluttered space is chaos for the mind. Since I was restless, I was going to sleep wayyy too late and waking up way before my alarm so I felt like a complete zombie towards the end of the week. After a little organizing on the weekend, this morning I was finally able to sleep until my alarm went off 👏🏻 its crazy how much your environment can impact ya!

Despite holiday festivities, my goal this week is to get to bed earlier and get my sleep schedule back on track. What are you working on this week?

I’m calling this Ultimate Hot Chocolate. Not only is it a way more nourishing version than what we all grew up on, it also happens to be way more delicious too. It’s packed with protein and heathy fats for energy and blood sugar stabilization, plus it’s as creamy and chocolatey as you’d hope. Recipe below (per serving)👇🏼
• 12 oz of @thenewbarn unsweetened almond milk
• 1 scoop @vitalproteins collagen
• 1 tbsp @fourthandheart vanilla bean ghee (you can use unsalted grass fed butter if you don’t have ghee)
• 2 tablespoons @navitasorganics cacao powder
• 1-2 tbsps @nutiva coconut sugar, depending on how sweet you want it to be
• Dash of pink Himalayan salt

Combine ingredients over low to medium heat until hot, but not boiling. Top with cinnamon, dark chocolate shavings, and a dollop of grass fed whipped cream! (To make whipped cream, just mix a cup of heavy cream on the highest setting with a whisk attachment until fluffy.) Drink while watching Elf or The Family Stone, no work emails allowed. Love you guys!🎄

I am having mine with steamed Kale instead of pasta as it has zero fat and amazing health benefits.  I try to stay away from carbohydrates after 3pm as I am less likely to be active so if you are trying to lose weight you should eat your carbohydrates earlier in the day and stick to stir fry and green veggies for your evening meal.

MONDAYZZZZ 🔥 I usually love Mondays and I’m very motivated. Not today tho. Today was hard. I didnt want to get out of bed, or even get out the apartment. I started to feel sorry for myself because I snoozed my alarm 100x, I didnt follow my macros to a T this weekend, and the list went on and on. Until I stopped myself for one second, and just thank myself because I’m alive. I’m able to move. I quickly realized I have the power to become whoever I wanted to be. I choose to be kind to myself, to get up and slowly my day started to change. YOU HAVE THE CHOICE. You can change your day, your week, your life. Baked Egg Stuffed Sweet Potatoes🍳 by runningwithspoons.com

Ingredients
2 large sweet potatoes
4 large eggs
salt and pepper, to taste
optional toppings such as: shredded cheese, green onions, chives, salsa, avocado, ketchup, etc.
Directions
Preheat oven to 400F. Wash and dry your sweet potatoes, and prick them all over with a fork before placing them onto a parchment-lined baking sheet and baking for 1 hour, or until soft and tender. Remove from oven and let stand for about 10 minutes, or until cool enough to handle.*
Slice each sweet potato in half lengthwise and use a spoon to scoop out the flesh, leaving about a half-inch border around the skin intact. Transfer flesh to a bowl and save for future use.
Reduce oven heat to 350F.
Crack 1 egg into each sweet potato half. Season with salt, pepper, and shredded cheese (if desired). Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 15-20 minutes, until white has set. Baked Egg Stuffed Sweet Potatoes🍳 by runningwithspoons.com --- Ingredients 2 large sweet potatoes 4 large eggs salt and pepper, to taste optional toppings such as: shredded cheese, green onions, chives, salsa, avocado, ketchup, etc. Directions Preheat oven to 400F. Wash and dry your sweet potatoes, and prick them all over with a fork before placing them onto a parchment-lined baking sheet and baking for 1 hour, or until soft and tender. Remove from oven and let stand for about 10 minutes, or until cool enough to handle.* Slice each sweet potato in half lengthwise and use a spoon to scoop out the flesh, leaving about a half-inch border around the skin intact. Transfer flesh to a bowl and save for future use. Reduce oven heat to 350F. Crack 1 egg into each sweet potato half. Season with salt, pepper, and shredded cheese (if desired). Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 15-20 minutes, until white has set. Okay big announcement here: pasture raised duck eggs are hella good. Ever since my @cleanprogram 21 day cleanse I’ve been having an issue w eggs giving me headaches and brain fog, even when I buy pasture raised (which, as an aside, are best to buy bc they have less cholesterol, less saturated fat, more Vitamin A, double the amount of omega-3 fatty acids, triple the amount of Vitamin E, and 7 times more beta carotene than conventional eggs). My mom mentioned as a kid she had an egg allergy that she (apparently) grew out of (but I think she just became accustomed to headaches and thought that was normal) so I’ve been experimenting w not eating them and today I tried local pasture raised duck eggs (found at @wholefoodsnova)! Honestly SO good, the yolk is HUGE and so far no headache! PLUS I made this in my new cast iron skillet I got from my mom as a birthday present and that crisp was insane. Paired w half of my favorite grain free everything bagel from @barelybread, half an avo, scallions, and some sprouts. Happy Monday! Now off to study for my last final 😑 #clairescreations 🦆🍳🥑💚

I got back late last night from Vegas and waking up today was notttttt fun. But I got out of bed, made this chia porridge, started laundry, and now I need to pack, run errands, and get ready for my flight to cold ass Milwaukee!

Homemade hemp milk w/ @manitobaharvest, chia, flax, more hemp, vanilla bean, cinnamon, @sunpotion reishi + ashwagandha, and topped with coconut, bluebs and cacao. Hopefully all of this #protein powers me through my long day! 💪🏼

#yoga. 🙏🏼 For the first time since surgery. You guys, I haven't felt this good in 11 weeks! I'm still not technically cleared for core-specific work until next week (shhhh! 🙊), but with some modifications everything felt good. As minion 1 told me yesterday, "Mommy, you still have muscles, but they're much smaller than they were before you had surgery" 🤣, so I definitely have some work ahead of me. But it felt amazing to be able to do some #vinyasas and inversions and stretch out my hips and hammies. I can't WAIT to try a short #run next week. What do you think: trail or road? 🤔

Lovely leaves decked out in mint, matcha and chlorophyll buttercream, garnished with the brilliant red of pom arils. So much enjoyment to be had while we tweak the old recipes, add in a new turn or two and let the natural hues of the simple freshen up and enliven our gathering tables!
