I mean really, I could go ON AND ON!  Here’s the thing about the what if game: It’s your minds way of controlling life because of fear, uncertainty, and the need for perfection!  And it’s EXHAUSTING! .
So it’s time to ditch the what ifs and just be.  Live in the moment.  Go with the flow.  Ride the wave.  And have faith that everything is happening for a reason, everything will work out exactly as it is supposed to, and you will be juuuuuuuust fine.

Believe. Behave. Become. 
What we think, what occupies our thoughts 90% of the time drives our behaviours. These behaviours become habit, and are consistantly practiced, which in turn dictates WHO we are. 
If we work backwards in this equation, it is clear how important our thoughts truly are. Sow seeds of kindness, love, hope, confidence and creativity. Challenge the black thoughts that grow into the weeds that can choke all the life and light out of your mind. If you are struggling with this, surround yourself with people who can remind you of your goodness. Seek professional help to learn and develop strategies to change your thought patterns and internalized negative beliefs. Life is so short, and you deserve to thrive in happiness.

We are hard wired to rebel against captivity, just like anything else on this earth. 
When you restrict your calories (or control then through whatever means), or even place mental rules around food and eating - placing  padlocks on certain foods... you put yourself in a prison that you will inevitably fight to escape. It’s natural human behaviour. Nothing can thrive in captivity. 
While bingeing can also be an unhealthy coping mechanism and form of self harm; or even punishment (either to yourself or others)....when paired with other disordered behaviours and restricting,  this can also be a fight for life. If you are under eating - even intermittently -  or face stress around food, it makes sense for your body to fight for freedom and try to make up for this deficit. Chances are, if you are bingeing, you are also trying to make up for this and cut back at some point. Your body will do what it can to rectify the imbalance of stress hormones. Your body is programmed to maintain homeostasis. Your ed can’t out-f&@k that!! And if you persist in trying, life is going to be a constant battle. A life of hell for ‘thin’. Is it really worth it? 
Not all binges and overeating is bad. It is important to consider the CONTEXT within your general eating patterns

“How can YOU help someone with their relationship with fitness and nutrition if you struggle with nutrition yourself?” is basically what someone said to me the other day. 😳 .
Here’s the deal friends, a shitty relationship with food IS A shitty relationship with food! It doesn’t matter if you are overweight, underweight, or at a healthy weight.  You could eat way too MUCH, far too LITTLE, or just the RIGHT AMOUNT! The relationship is all about what goes on IN THE MIND! And yes, I struggle with my MINDSET at times but as a challenger, I learned to break that cycle and now as a coach, I teach others how to do the same! I’ve learned strategies to help battle those irrational fears and create a positive relationship with food.  I treat food as nourishment and fuel for my body.  Am I perfect?  No, because I’M HUMAN and anyone who has an eating disorder knows that recovery is an ebb and flow for the rest of your life.  But I can promise you that 10 years into recovery, my relationship with food is WAYYYYYY BETTER than it ever used to be!  It’s all about progress not perfection right?

So YES, YES I can help people with their nutrition even though I used to be a hot mess in that area.  I find that makes me WAY MORE QUALIFIED because I know EXACTLY what it’s like to have a poor relationship with food and I have worked hard to change that over the past few years.  I know that if I can change, anyone can change!

And I’m helping a new crew Monday so just that! BOOM!

What does your eating disorder represent? What is it a SYMPTOM of? If you scratch the surface of these rules you have imposed on yourself... these compulsions ..this particular channel of obsession ... what do you find? 
The eating disorder - and ANY OTHER TYPE OF COPING MECHANISM (drink, drugs, skin picking, hair pulling , sex, gambling, shopping...) - is a manifestation of something deeper. What are you running away from? What are you trying to bury and avoid?

Meet my nemesis.  Burpees with a tuck jump. 😳 This little move messes with my mind so much! The minute I hear it’s coming, I start making excuses and creating limitations. .
“Oh I better modify because of my knee.”
“Just do 3 and then take a break.”
“It’s still a good move if I just do burpees, right?”

The mind is a powerful thing and this move challenges my stinkin’ thinkin’ every damn time.  BUT the difference is now I shut that Negative Nancy off and just keep pushing.  I do the best I can while focusing on form to protect my knee and 30 seconds later, I’M DONE!

For anyone thinking that everyone else "has it all figured out", or for comparing yourself to people you see on social media; if you ever feel like you don't know what you want to be when you "grow up", or feel as though everyone except you knows what they are doing, stop. Stop and breath. The truth is that most of us don't have a clue what we are doing at least 50% of the time. But we forge ahead, and hope for the best as we make progress. The Only way to learn anything is by doing it, be it life, love, work, fitness, health, knitting, etc. We can talk and plan about it until we are blue in the face, but action trumps words 100% of the time. Have faith in yourself. Take the leap, and know that life has a funny way of working out.

We all have the same 24 hours in the day.  We all are guilty of getting lost in the newsfeed or procrastination shopping.  The key is to catch yourself, remind yourself of your goals, and get after it! 💕

I’ve realized that now, eating normally, food has become so much less important. I used to obsess over everything I ate, how many calories or macronutrients I was getting in a day. I would spend so much time planning what I was “allowed” to eat days in advance. I would also eat so little that I was obsessed with food and hyper-aware of it everywhere I went. My body was screaming for nutrients, and sending signals to find sustenance wherever I was. I would sit in class, and be able to smell every snack that someone was eating, I would sit and watch mukbang videos on YouTube for hours, I would scroll through recipe pages I knew I would never make. But, when my body is properly nourished and I’m not concerned with planning my meals to meet a certain goal, food became a lot less ‘endearing’. It still tastes amazing, but I am no longer spending every waking moment thinking about it. This gives me so much more mental space for other, more important things. I finally have the clarity to focus in all aspects in life, and for that I am grateful.

Step 1: wake up.  Step 2: tell yourself you’re perfect.
Whether you believe it or not your body is beautiful just the way it is. You don’t get the “perfect” body from working out for a specific amount of time, eating a certain diet or being a certain number on the scale. You get the perfect body by believing you have the perfect body. 
Having a goal is 100% ok but you don’t need to kill yourself mentally and physically in order to reach that. You also don’t need any one to tell you that your body isn’t beautiful or what your goal should be!  After I eat my stomach isn’t flat, I have rolls when I sit down, I get acne, my hair is a mess in the morning, I eat sweets,  I get grumpy and lazy. SO, as some of you may have noticed I haven’t been active at all for some weeks, and was barely active for a month or two before that. So what’s up with me? Big stuff I can tell you, but mainly : I finally reached a healthy weight !!!!!!!!!!! I’m not at my pre ed weight or pre ed BMI (yet) but I’m not physically in danger no more, and I can’t tell you how liberating it feels to me. I’ve been seeing a psychotherapist for 2 months now, and she helped me so much I can’t explain, but honestly, I worked really really hard for two months. I think those were probably 2 of the worse months of my life, I’ve cried a lot, often, felt scared, helpless, tired, ... but I kept going every single day, and, for all I know, I have challenged every single fearfood I had. Like, every single one I could think of.
Now I’m not saying it’s easy now, but it’s nothing like it used to be. And I don’t have a healthy relationship with food yet, but it’s nowhere near what it used to be. Believe it or not, I now enjoy food. I enjoy eating, I enjoy going to the restaurant with friends and I enjoy tasting everything that sounds yummy to me. I have a long way to go from here, but knowing I got out of this at least physically, knowing my body is ready to forgive me for the terrible mess I put it through, is worth every single meal, and every single calorie to me.
Thanks to those of you who took the time to read, keep on fighting, and keep on thriving to get free from your ed. ❤️

Big stuff I can tell you, but mainly : I finally reached a healthy weight !!!!!!!!!!! I’m not at my pre ed weight or pre ed BMI (yet) but I’m not physically in danger no more, and I can’t tell you how liberating it feels to me. I’ve been seeing a psychotherapist for 2 months now, and she helped me so much I can’t explain, but honestly, I worked really really hard for two months. I think those were probably 2 of the worse months of my life, I’ve cried a lot, often, felt scared, helpless, tired, ... but I kept going every single day, and, for all I know, I have challenged every single fearfood I had. Like, every single one I could think of. Now I’m not saying it’s easy now, but it’s nothing like it used to be. And I don’t have a healthy relationship with food yet, but it’s nowhere near what it used to be. Believe it or not, I now enjoy food. I enjoy eating, I enjoy going to the restaurant with friends and I enjoy tasting everything that sounds yummy to me. I have a long way to go from here, but knowing I got out of this at least physically, knowing my body is ready to forgive me for the terrible mess I put it through, is worth every single meal, and every single calorie to me. Thanks to those of you who took the time to read, keep on fighting, and keep on thriving to get free from your ed. ❤️
