Colonial Hills Elementary P.E. Dept. hosted their 3rd annual Turkey Trot. The students brought in cans and the grade level with the most won an extra recess. To add to the fun, a 4-foot turkey on the gym was decorated with feathers containing each can donor’s name. The safety patrols helped load the cans into a huge box for the San Antonio Food Bank. #NEISD#SAFOODBANK
Today, as I think back on when I first came up with the idea of creating a chat for new teachers on Twitter, I’m thankful that I did it. In 2010 I pushed through my doubts, all in the name of pursuing a way to be of service to new and pre-service teachers. It wasn’t easy...but I remain thankful to the friends, and family who supported me, thank you. I wouldn’t be here without your belief in my ability to succeed. Many of you who know me from Twitter shared in and participated in new teacher chat over the years. Now I'm asking that you help me spread the word about our new blog on @educationweek Teacher. We want new teachers to know that they matter and that they have a place to connect for support and resources. We launch tomorrow! Fingers crossed we can make a difference. 🤞🏼

🤜🏼🤛🏼 My favorite moments are the ones behind the scenes, or the aftermath, the process, the building blocks, the fixing the problem, when there’s a problem. This is when you see everyone’s strengths & weaknesses. 🤭Have you noticed?! When all is good everyone is good! Learn to love having problems!

Since it's thanksgiving weekend, one of our goals is to raise enough funds to feed 30+ families who have children with special needs. The children who attend the day care here on FIU campus at PG-6.
If you can please donate you can make a cash donation at the door or cashapp ($robcastillojr) or Venmo (Robcastillojr) myself, so we can make sure these families have a thanksgiving this year. These are low income families, and anything helps. I've spent Thanksgiving alone before, not being able to celebrate it and we believe in helping others have the Thanksgiving that can change their life.
Please share this message and our goal to educate others while we help families be together for the time of giving.
EVEN IF YOU CANNOT ATTEND, PLEASE SHARE, LIKE, FORWARD THIS MESSAGE TO HELP THESE FAMILIES IN NEED AND FOR OTHERS INTERESTED HELPING AND IN ATTENDING.
This weekend has been one of the most AMAZING weekends I've have had in awhile. Being able to inspire our youth is something I love to do. Seeing the look on the kids faces when we walked through the door, all the smiles, the hugs, the selfies, the awe and shock that we were really there etc was an experience I will NEVER forget.I want to thank pleasant view magnet school and the Lansing Michigan school district for having Marcus D. Smith and I this weekend. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Most importantly my BAE LaVonte L. Heard for putting this all together. He went above and beyond. For that we celebrate you! He made sure that this was something his students would never forget and I'm pretty sure that they won't. My good friend is so selfless and giving to others. We need more people like him in the world. I'm not only thankful for him but his family. Mommy,Mama, Quan, Peaches and Mike drane lol I love you ALL. I'm family. Y'all stuck with me for life lol Now I have an excuse to just fly out to Michigan lol. I'm still smiling! Lord I thank you for this amazing time! #Grateful#Family#Educators#TheFuture
#theNEISDway --Colonial Hills students celebrated another harvest from the school garden and delivered to the cafeteria. Kale and cilantro were harvested and prepared by the cafeteria staff to serve during lunch. The kale was braised and topped off with Parmesan Cheese and the cilantro was added to the salsa. What a wonderful partnership Colonial Hills has with the NEISD Child Nutrition Department. #NEISD#ColonialHills
