You really had to be there. Rebecca + I were back in action beating Tesla to the world stage of the heavy duty electric truck scene. We didn't let a few hiccups like Mother Nature rain on our parade. #electrictruck#innovation#Cummins
"Tesla shares rise on Electric Semi pre-orders" - In November, Tesla, Inc. (NASDAQ: TSLA) announced the price for its electric semi, starting at $150,000 for the 300-mile range truck and $180,000 for the 500-mile range truck. Tesla also mentioned a $20,000 reservation fee. A big concern for the electric semi was that it could potentially be a relapse of what happened with the Model 3. #Tesla , $NASDAQ, $TSLA, #electrictruck , #Model3 , #Reuters , #statement , #ElonMusk , #margin , #revenue , #automotives , #production , Read Full Article Here: http://www.financialbuzz.com/tesla-shares-rise-on-electric-semi-pre-orders-956062
Mack Trucks shows off electrified tractor that runs on overhead power lines like a trolley or train:
Tested near the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach as part of a project with Siemens that is sponsored by the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD), the truck taps into electricity via overhead power lines – what’s called a “catenary system” similar to those used to power streetcars.
Siemens installed its eHighway infrastructure – a system it has been working on for five years – along one mile of select highway lanes with its catenary system. Mack has been involved with Siemens since 2014 in this project.

It’s public, so I can talk about it now, been waiting for four months! Here is what I was building, living in my #dragonwagon , over in North Hollywood California. I was in charge of the manufacturing and shop engineering for one of the worlds first #electricsemi trucks at #thortrucks . I was in charge of building the manufacturing and prototype shop from scratch. We went head to head with Tesla and it was 8months of hard 100+hr weeks but I am happy to be part of history. You can read about it on #bloomberg and #motortrend
I was driven because I got denied for a manufacturing job for SpaceX, now you got some competition Elon Musk 😝 #failedinterviewrevenge#ACpropulsion4life#electrictruck#electricvehicle

PepsiCo makes biggest public pre-order of Tesla Semis: 100 trucks
The largest-known order of the big rig, as the maker of Mountain Dew soda and Doritos chips seeks to reduce fuel costs and fleet emissions, a company executive said on Tuesday.
Two companies already bought 90 Tesla Semi Trucks! 😏
With Tesla's Semi Truck it's not all about the ecological stuff, but it is primarily about the efficiency and also the advertisement to be honest...😜
Sysco, the first company on the list already bought 50 trucks, which is expected to be an investment of around $8,5million. And that definitely isn't much for the amount of trucks when you've got a$55billion annual sales 😉. .
As the current Sysco president, Tom Bené says: “We are excited to begin the process of incorporating alternative-fuel trucks into our fleet, in addition to the positive environmental impacts, we will also benefit from reduced fuel and maintenance costs and drive associate enthusiasm with the introduction of new and unique technology.” 😎
The next up is a Beer company called Anheuser-Busch, which invested in 40 of them after they found out it reduces their cost of more than 20%, which is definitely worth it! 😏
To be honest we all know that the main reason isn't even the cost reduction, but the advertisement. Just imagine you're the only company with a futuristic truck selling a Beer in your country. If you're a customer, you're definitely buying from them! 😜 It's like selling a beer in Multipla, but with the opposite effect 😏.
Chautauqua County in New York becomes the first county government in the United States to add a Class 8 electric truck to its fleet, according to Orange EV, the truck manufacturer.
The Orange EV T-Series pure-electric Class 8 terminal truck is being used at the North County Transfer Station in Fredonia, NY. The electric truck replaces a 15-plus-year-old diesel truck and eliminates yard truck emissions and diesel fuel consumption while advancing efforts to meet the energy, environmental, and economic goals established in the Chautauqua County 20/20 Comprehensive Plan. With this deployment, Chautauqua County became the nation’s first county government to introduce 100% electric, Class 8 trucks into fleet operations, according to Orange EV.
The Orange EV electric terminal truck, also known as a yard jockey, spotter, or yard truck, was purchased at a discount enabled by New York State’s voucher incentive program.

#Sysco , which has the largest food service distribution network in the world, confirmed the order of 50 #TeslaSemi trucks during their investor day yesterday (hat tip to Brian Brophy). The effort is part of their plan to adopt new technologies in their distribution network in order to increase efficiency.
While it’s one of Tesla’s biggest reported orders of trucks yet, it’s actually only a small update of Sysco’s fleet, which includes over 7,000 trucks in operation. #ElectricTruck#ElectricTrucks#TeslaTruckOwners#Tesla#SyscoTruck#frieghtliner#Trucking https://electrek.co/2017/12/08/tesla-semi-order-electric-trucks-sysco/
Finally our video of the World's first eHighway stretch is up on our EVolution channel! Heavy electric trucks (hybrid for now but with time they will go fully electric with bigger and better batteries available) -now test driving in real trafic environment along a 2 km highway stretch, part of E16 highway, in central Sweden. We spent a day riding in one of the trucks, filming it on the highway and interviewd the leaders behind Ehighway E16. Two trucks from Scania is currently equipped with pantographs from Siemens and the 2 km stretch has an overhead catenary system that provides the trucks with electricity when connected with the pantographs, thus only running on electricity along the eHighway! The idea is to eventually electrify the 110 km's highway between the industrial city Borlänge and a major harbour (Gävle hamn) where 100:s of heavy trucks deliver/pick up goods every day. It would save 95 % of the emissions from the diesel trucks and save the hauling contractor about 71 000 dollars (600 k SEK) per truck/year if they ran on electricity via the eHighway when driving on the highway. This is with the truck driver still driving in the cab. Check out our video on EVolution channel:
