Hello @DocsofInsta...check out @erinaddie -
“I’m Erin Handspiker - a 4th year medical student interested in emerge med. I’m motivated & inspired by my stepdad who is an ER physician & entrepreneur, as well as motivated to persevere & prove resilient after my accident last year where I fell 300 feet, and forced to take time off school.
Despite continued challenges from what happened, I use it to push myself, & hope that my uphill climb from rock bottom can be used to motivate & push others going through school in the medical field”
Here is the less glamorous side of my life: hospital lighting and bags under the eyes and ill fitting scrubs. Most of my friends are non medical, which leads me to feeling a bit like I lead a double life.
My best work days are often people's worst days of their lives; I recognise the perversity of that. Sometimes when I'm out meeting new people I feel as though my day to day is just so different from their day to day. It is a lonely feeling. I have been wondering if the personal sacrifices required to pursue a career in medicine are worth it. #emergencydoctor
My mission truly is to make the world 🌍 a better place. But that doesn’t mean I’m going to go out there and fix all the world’s problems. It means that I can positively impact ❤️ the lives of others one person at a time through fitness and wellness. Because when I work with a busy working mom, my goal is to help her feel her best by first taking time to fill her cup exercising ⛹️♀️ and eating healthy. 🥗And when that happens her energy, mood, productivity, self-esteem, and confidence goes up and she starts going for all her dreams. But it all starts with the basics - exercise, fueling your body correctly, getting enough sleep. And once I help a woman get in an awesome routine with that, she is unstoppable unstoppable! And a life has been changed for the better. And HER world 🌎 has been made better! ❤️
Everyone needs the help of a workout buddy from time to time. Here’s my sweetness 👧 holding down my feet as I do my sit-ups! I used to use my kids as an excuse for not working out, saying how they kept me too busy and didn’t allow me the time. But now I use them as a reason for working out. And also try to get them involved in my workouts so that workout time is also a chance for us to bond and connect! ❤️
OMG! 😱 Look at the insane amounts of plastic cups, plates, containers and water bottles in our home. It’s time for me to take a stand and banish the plastic from our kitchen. I’m planning to buy glass and stainless steel. Any recommendations on favorite containers?
The Holidays 🌲 are upon us!! This time I’m not going to let this special time of year ⭐️ race by without taking some time to truly enjoy it.
I used to run around shopping, and plan parties 🎉 and activities ⛸ , stress myself out and not take anytime to fill my own cup ☕️ ! But then I realized that didn’t do anyone any good. Not even my family. (My kids don’t want to have a frazzled,
Stressed mom. They want me happy and at ease.) But now I know better and I take a little bit of time for myself each and everyday.
In fact tomorrow we start our Happy Healthy Holidays group. I’m going to be doing 22 min home workouts, drinking chocolate superfoods daily and taking time to prepare some healthy meals, because I know when I take even 30 minutes to myself each day I am happier 😄 and actually more productive. 🎁
So if you tend to do what I used to, get really stressed at this time of year, then join in our Happy Healthy Holidays group. Did I also mention we are giving away some awesome prizes too? Lulu Lemon gear and Nike shoes to name a few. PM me to reserve your spot or drop me a line 👇. Happy Holidays, everyone!!!
I used to splatter, but now I bounce back. I give myself 24 hours to feel the blow, the pain, the disappointment and then I pick myself back up and figure out the next best step. Staying stuck to the ground unable to figure out a way back towards reaching my goals doesn’t do anyone any good. So what do you do? Do you splatter or bounce?
This simple little thing here makes meal planning 🥘 and grocery shopping 🛒 for the week so much easier! I love how it’s perforated down the middle and I can take just the grocery list to the store. Sometimes it’s the little things in life that make a difference. ❤️
No wait time and convenient in-house X-ray equipment. We are ready 24/7, every single day. #Mercer#Pharr
👨🏻⚕️🐊 Such a thought provoking ethical dilemma. A man found passed out in Miami, with a tattoo that says “Do not resuscitate” and it was signed. If you received this patient in the ER, what would you do?
This is a great way to modify push-ups if you don’t need both knees down but aren’t quite ready for just being on your toes! Got it done in 22 minutes today!!!
#Mercer offers a state-of-the-art facility conveniently located in #Pharr . We also have a CT Scan available for our #ER patients.
Confession of an Online Fitness Coach and Mom 😩 Yes, I admit we buy our kiddos Mcdonalds 🍟(sometimes more than we should). And we let them eat 🍕and 🍩 sometimes too. ❤️ But do you know what I also love are the other things my kids say. "Mommy, what are you eating" Me - Brussel Sprouts. "Can I have some?"
"Mommy, can I have some of your salad 🥗 ? That looks yummy!”
“Mommy, I’m going to eat everything you eat because I want to be fast and strong like you.”
"Mom, can we make ice cream from frozen bananas again?"
"Mommy, it’s my turn to exercise with you.” "Mommy, you are stronger than daddy." 💪 “Mommy, when are you going to be on TV like Shaun T?” It is exactly these conversations that are part of my why for my fitness journey. I want to be a good role model for my kiddos so they are healthy and strong and learn to lead a healthy lifestyle for the rest of their lives.
If you’d like to change the conversations that you have with your kids, then be the change and let’s do this together for us, but also for our children. Because they are always watching and you are their biggest role model in life! ❤️ Message me for more details on my upcoming group.
My mantra as I’m pushing hard for a BIG goal!! Those who persevere through the tough times are the ones who will still be standing at the end of the day!
I didn’t wake up early enough to exercise 😴 before I went in to work 👩⚕️ today at 6 am, but when I came home I decided to make family time into a chance for my son and I to get some movement in together before bed. Yes, wearing our PJs. (Definitely a plus of working out at home.) So my son and I did this really fun family 👨👩👧👦 workout which honestly feels like play!! It’s such a great way to spend time together and for us to bond. Also there are some life lessons and sweet moments ❤️ shared between us. If you’d like to give this family workout a try, DM me and I’ll fill you in on details. I know you would love it! #doubletimefit#sweepstakes
The simple secret of winners is that they never quit!!! Don’t quit on yourself or your dreams because you are worth it and your dreams are worth it. The time will pass anyway and you may as well be working towards what you want...
The Holidays are in full swing 🎄 and I’m hearing from people how the Holidays stress them out! 😬
I totally get it! There are lots of parties 💃 to go to and gifts 🎁 to buy and dishes 🥘 to be cooked. But I’d like to help bring back the JOY of the Holidays by helping busy working women take a little time each day for self care and to truly fill their cup. ☕️ So that’s why I’m so excited to announce our Happy Healthy Holidays Fitness Accountability group. It’s a 30 day online group where we will focus on getting in short, effective home workouts, drinking a daily superfood smoothie and eating healthy-ish. 😉 I know when I am stressed taking a little bit of time to do those things really helps me make the most of the day and also feel more happy!
Also since it’s the Holidays we are giving away some awesome prizes — Nike sneakers 👟 and Lulu Lemon gear!
It’s gonna a be great group! 😄 DM me or leave me a comment and I will fill you in on all the details.
Did you know that more people go to the emergency room during the holidays? #Mercer in #Pharr is open 24/7, 365 days a year.
