"My job was to squeeze the coagulated blood down the hole in the floor. The blood was not to exceed more than 3 inches deep. I remember the smell, the uncontrollable shaking and the fearful cries of the cows while they were waiting their turn at death. I know they knew death was near. I remember the Kill Floor team high-fiving each other because they broke the record, killing 107 cows in 1 hour." - Peter Swissdorf, slaughterhouse worker

all businesses that exploit animals for their own needs, money and greed are batshit absolutely crazy and disgusting. but there is something about the dairy industry that is just .. i don't even know what words to use.
did you know that dairy cows only produce milk when they have a baby and that this gentle being also carries their baby for 9 months - just as humans? female cows get artificially inseminated in the industry (aka raped) and when they give birth, the baby is taken away almost immediately. if the calf is female she is likely to suffer the same fate as her mother, to become a milk machine. if it's male, he is useless for the dairy industry so he is sold for veal, killed or left to die. if they are sold for veal they are kept in small dark crates so their muscles won't develop and their meat will be tender, they are likely to suffer from anemia, chronic pneumonia or muscle atrophy after about 22-25 weeks of being kept in these conditions they are slaughtered.
female cows are genetically modified to give 4.5 times more milk than they naturally would. after a long time of suffering and constantly stealing their milk, cows that can no longer produce milk are also useless for the industry. no milk = no profit. so they are send off to slaughter and they become dog food / soups / burgers. a natural lifespan of a cow is 20-25 years and they are killed after 4 years in the dairy industry and calfs only a few months old! how can someone support that?
and did you know the bond between a mother and her calf is extremely strong? they would cry after them and search for them for weeks after the baby is taken away. they suffer emotionally. these are not things to use, they are living beings that form strong bonds, feel love, pain and are hella smart.
please keep them off your diet. it's a matter of non violence.
remember when you drink milk (or any products made from milk) it's only because a calf somewhere is not. and with all the amaaazing nut milks out there you don't need to consume dairy, at the end of the day - you are not a baby calf.
