New post up and this one is a first!! I'm finally able to share my first ever WSYC research paper with you focusing on the work of the Cheetah Outreach. Have a quick read and see how I use the Theory of Change Metrics to help wildlife organizations reach for their greatest educational potential - turning inspiration into action.
Speak Powerfully Workshop has now sold out.
More intensely transformative workshops by Miroslav will be hitting the Gold Coast mid this year!
Watch out for some videos coming your way this weekend as no doubt I’ll be feeling inspired to get my face on camera!
Solid work w coach @_andreipaulet_pt Today as @stylebender prepares for his @ufc Debut. Getting to witness @danhangman prepare for his massive fight in Las Vegas. Then to see Israel prepare for his debut in Perth. Maaaan! I’m so far off these guys, but I’m in the same system and I work hard, makes me excited for my journey ahead. But it’s the journey not the destination that makes this all count. #CharacterBuilding it’s why I’m in this game. #NoLiesInAFight#CKB#Engage#VakeFam 🇹🇴🇳🇿
‘Dreaming’... a short film about a young girl's dream of the ocean. Growing up in a township within walking distance from the sea, Sima dreams of what lies beneath the waves. Follow the link in @iamwater_foundation bio to see the whole film.
About this film & the I AM WATER ethos: Privilege and access are words we too easily forget when we ask people to buy into conservation. Access to our oceans - to the limitless potential one finds in oneself in an ocean, to a connection with its creatures - is often a question of privilege.
When we ignore this, we forget the very idea of community that underpins how we might live together on this planet. Martin Luther King Jr wasn’t talking about sustainability, or the health of our oceans when said these words (below), but we think they underscore what drives our mission at I AM WATER: to share experiences that connect us to our potential, to each other and to the ocean whose future we hold in our hands.
______________ “We are tied together in a single garment of destiny, caught in an inescapable network of mutuality. For some strange reason, I can never be what I ought to be until you are what you ought to be. And you can never be what you ought to be until I am what I ought to be” - #MLK
Thank you to the ALL MIGHTY Films team, Anthony Dickenson (@tonedefinitely) & Mark Harbour for making this happen, and the @farmfilmsa crew for the amazing support! 💙🙏
Day 3/80 done ✅!! Let’s talk about this:

And it was said in the beginning that you may have to stop a couple times. So, 👁 wasn’t ashamed. Why? Because it GOT DONE ✅! ~Check out my IG stories to see my favorite moves with the #Sliders 💪🏼 💙
An admin of a travel group I’m in on Facebook posted a meme that reads:
Belle is on the internet.
Belle sees something that offends her.
Belle moves on.
Belle is smart.
Be like Belle.
I understand the intentions of it, to tell people not to troll, which is itself another issue. However, the sentiment to me is the reason why we, as a world, are in the shit show we’re in.
You cannot turn a blind eye when racists march.
You cannot turn a blind eye when women are sexually assaulted.
You cannot turn a blind eye when children drown trying to flee war and reach safety.
You cannot turn a blind eye when the icecaps melt, and polar bears starve, and people die from tainted drinking water, and police officers do not get charged for brutal murders, and concert goers are shot. -
If something offends you SAY SOMETHING.
If I offend you, SAY SOMETHING.
I believe, if we could all engage in dialogues which were constructive and respectful and thoughtful we would be a whole hell of a lot better than we are now.
Don’t move on.
I think the sentiment of this Tybee Island graffiti is much better!
“I was once an Advertising Art Director for 10 years in NYC. 🌃 As an art director, I created one pretty famous campaign about 15 years ago which some of you Americans may recall. It was for Verizon Wireless and the campaign was, "Can you hear me now?" 📲📞 We invented the Testman character who traveled around the country testing the Verizon Wireless network. My writer partner and I were one of several teams put to the task of either coming up with a new branding campaign that would keep VW as our client or everyone would be fired from the agency.
Just like in the series, Mad Men, I was one of the only female creative's in the company. It was a crazy job, definitely exciting when one of our ideas finally made it to production after spending years creating campaign ideas that got killed by clients. However it was a pretty stressful job, we were always under the gun. I'll never forget one weekend when we were pitching a new client and my partner and I literally slept under our desks because we had to deliver something in the morning to our boss. In the end, we did create very successful branding for Verizon which they used for 10 years. In fact, our Testman character/actor is now working for Sprint! 🤱 I then became a stay at home mom for 10 years and went back to school for my Masters in Education. For the last 4 years I've been working as a part-time Art Teacher, a meditation teacher and I joined DaDaABC 4 months ago. 🙏 I enjoy teaching very much, working with children is never dull. There's so much joy in seeing them grow both linguistically and physically! I would love to do it full time.” - DaDaABC Teacher Gina
I don't think I've posted anything remotely serious in over a year, but I'll just get this out real quick, OK?
A friendly reminder that if you're basing your thoughts on or directing your anger towards any group of people - Conservatives, Liberals, Jews, Christians, Muslims, Women, Bisexuals, Trisexuals, Homosapiens, Carcinogens, Hallucinogens, Men, Pee Wee Herman - BECAUSE of the posts you see on social media (which are curated for you by algorithms to maintain echo chambers and sell you goods), I kindly ask that you either A) Get out more, or B) Get new friends.
All Christians aren't bigots. All Men aren't rapists. All Liberals aren't idiots. One of the greatest crimes of the American education system is the lack of prioritizing critical thinking in its curriculum. Yes, bubbles are warm and comfortable. But I hate to tell you - for most people, the world isn't a warm and comfortable place. (I'd say "check your privilege" here if that wasn't such an empty, useless phrase.)
If you truly want meaningful, impactful conversation and change, maybe stop commenting "THIS" on a friend's post you agree with, and get on the phone with someone who might offer an alternative perspective. Or have five friends over for dinner, and ask each of them to bring a guest with a different background or point of view. I've done it before and it's fun! (And no, I don't mean invite the KKK over. If your friend says she's bringing a really cool guy and David Duke shows up at your door, by all means put on your Will & Grace graphic tee, attach that Time's Up pin, dance the Hora, and invite him to see Black Panther with you because that movie looks SIIICK. He'll run away quick, I promise.)
Stop yelling. Stop complaining. Start listening. Start engaging.
And trust me on the sunscreen.
OK that's it. Love you all! ⛄️
