🌿A little clip of 🌶️Chilli. Had a bit of a disaster this morning, their enclosure slipped off it's shelf, accidentally causing hurricane conditions for the poor babies as the water poured out of the jar. Thankfully able to catch it before anything too horrible happened but still had to fish Chilli out of water and dry him off (he had a drop on his back half is size!), Parsley shook for a while, Fennel and Rosemary totally unaffected 💚. Checked them so many times today & they're all fine now, thank goodness. I've moved them so it can't happen again. And double checked the shelf this time, with a spirit level! Who'd have thought I'd need one of those to keep insects. But crikey, pet parenting's worrying.

Researching the gypsy moth invasion & am obsessed with the man who brought them to N. America. Étienne Trouvelot was an amateur entomologist, artist & astronomer. He made some beautiful work, but his release of gypsy moths killed millions of trees. This is a photo of men trying to remove as many of the egg masses as the could. Thank you to @josefkristo for the introduction to this photo & to this intriguing character!! 🖤
p.s. he has a crater on the moon named after him. .
