At the 1968 Miss America beauty pageant a group of women picketed the pageant with signs proclaiming, “Let’s Judge Ourselves as People.” They dumped girdles, cosmetics, high-heeled shoes, and bras into a “freedom trash can” they were dubbed by the media as “Bra Burners.” The women’s march is tomorrow! #burnyourbra#smashthepatriarchy#riotgrrrl#freethenipple#equalityforeveryone thanks Kat! ❤️💪
Every single day I am impressed, surprised, and motivated by my body. Each day presents a new challenge physically and I have learned to embrace it with excitement.
10 months ago I couldn't do a push-up to save my life, and now look at me boomeranging push-ups all over the place 😆 📸: @byjodirene ✨✨✨
In 2015, two years before the #metoo movement got Americans talking about sexual harassment, Brazilian women launched #meuprimeiroassedio , or #myfirstharassment . This hashtag⠀
led the way for many other hashtags across Latin America that documented the experiences of women on the streets, at work, and in the classroom. ⠀
But, in a country where only 63% of households have internet access, women began working across Brazil to organize, with their efforts culminating in the Black Women’s March Against Racism and in Favor of Living Well. There, 50,000 Afro-Brazilian women of all ages and backgrounds came together to denounce violence against Black women including sexual violence, deadly abortions, mass incarceration’s, and medical neglect. ⠀

I’m not black. I’m not mixed. I’m not lightskin. I’m white. And I will never stop shouting black lives matter. All that white lives matter too is bullshit. We know white lives matter. But which one is being said as a stand against racism? Black lives matter. When people say this they aren’t saying there lives are more important they’re saying that the racist white people who are constantly portraying black people as thugs and violent people who do nothing but steal and kill ARE WRONG!!!! Ever notice how like 95% of serial killers are white? Isn’t that really funny @ all you disgusting racist pigs who think that any race other than yours is below you. NO ONE CAN HELP THEIR SKIN COLOR!!!!!! And I bet that if you were to show a racist person the insides of a black man vs a white man without knowing they were different colors and asked the difference between the two he wouldn’t be able to name one thing.
If a man ever makes u feel like you have to give your body up for you to love him he doesn’t care about you and he just wants sex. If he loved you he would recognize and respect the fact that you want to wait. Period. Via: @march
Ladies listen I know we as a gender we go through a lot of gender stereotypes and gender roles that aren’t right, but men do too. And it’s ok for them to recognize that it’s okay for them to join in on our conversations about gender roles. It’s okay. Men can be abused in a relationship, men can be raped, men can cry, men can be fat, men can be skinny, and men can be short. Men are supposed to be these super tall beasts with big arms, abs, no fears, and are never supposed to cry. And when they don’t have big muscles and no abs and are scared of things and cry they’re “gay” and “a fag” and “a bitch” and “a pussy” and it’s just as fucked up as when women get called things too. BUT it’s NOT okay as this text represents when a man tries to up you by telling you that he is discriminated more as a man than women are. We should feel free to talk about how we feel and what we are going through just like men are. But we shouldn’t try to “impress” or override another race or gender by how often we get put down. While showing up in person is important, we understand that not everyone can make it to the #womensmarch this Saturday. If you aren’t sure how to go about participating while being absent, @bustle has the perfect article for you! https://www.bustle.com/p/7-womens-march-2018-alternatives-if-you-cant-attend-in-person-7944160
