Port Townsend is a charming historical port town on the Olympic Peninsula. It is known for its well preserved Victorian style buildings and houses. It happens to be the home of my uncle Matt who works as a repairman on boats in this harbor.
All dressed up to attend a wedding on Lamu Island off the coast of Kenya. I just came across this photo from my round the world trip back in 2001/2002 and it reminded me about the benefits of traveling solo. Because I was traveling on my own at the time, I was more open to talking to new people. The conversation I struck up on the flight to the island landed me a free stay at a boutique hotel, a new friend to show me around the island and an invite to a traditional wedding ceremony where the men and women celebrate in separate receptions. Solo travel really does make me reach beyond my comfort zone and often leads to the best experiences. #theressomuchtosee
