I will remain eating keto on refeeding meals but I’ve become a totally fat-burning machine who can stay sated and well for long periods of time off my own fat stores and supplemental electrolytes. Once I acheive my desired goal, I will continue to eat keto and do sporadic short fasts for THE REST OF MY LIFE. Keto is life. Fasting is life.
I ended my fast early 😒 not because I was hungry or feeling bad but because I was so COLD! Apparently during an extended fast your core body temperature drops. For me it was too much. I’m normally a “hot” person. I can’t sleep under covers, I’m walking around in a tank top while everyone else is in sweaters. So being cold and not being able to get warm was extremely uncomfortable for me. I’m happy I surpassed my previous fasting time and will try again for 120 hours next month. After waking at 7am to make banana pancakes and seeing my youngest off to school, day 3 #waterfast finally introduced herself. 👹
I was overcome with weakness after a bath and so I went to bed. I shivered and my body temperature dropped to 97.5. I slept for an hour, and the sleep was strange. I woke up and had a glass of sea salt and water, followed by tea. .
I am reading and keeping myself mostly horizontal today. It is the only day I do not teach. Rest during fasting is super important. Activity actually SLOWS the process! .
My metabolism is switching over. #autophagy is in full swing. I am healing and regenerating. It’s very uncomfortable. .
I thought I would do some sound healing to ease the process and regulate my vibration. If you don’t have a bowl, simply listening to beautiful instrumental music or saying “aaauuuummmmmm, aaaaauummmm, auuuuummmmm” is good. Sound heals. Sound soothes.

(1/3) On my birthday, all the guys over at @mindpumpmedia were partaking in a 72 hour fast attempt. I really wanted to do it, but there were already planned dinners and family outings I had to go to, so I unfortunately couldn’t. HOWEVER, I’ve decided to do it now. It’s been 12 hours since I’ve eaten anything, and I’m in it for the full 72!
I feel fine. I ate a bunch of food yesterday, vegetables, meat and maybe some Nutella.. plus I’m used to fasting the full day. I think when it’s gonna get hard is tomorrow morning. Honestly the benefits of fasting are so massive, especially an extended fast, that I may follow in the footsteps of @jockowillink and do one every 3 months.

And the fasting continues.. I’m halfway to my goal of 120 hours. I feel great, I’m still working out ( using light weight during the fast) and am drinking about 4 gallons of water a day. Second picture is after my first full day of fasting. Now here is the important part.... ready??? Fasting is NOT for everyone, and it’s not something to be taken lightly. I’ve been following an IF schedule for yrs 16:8 currently, Previously 19:5 . I started by first extending my already in progress fast until I was able to do 24 hrs, after that I set out to reach 30 hrs and so on and so on. Once I got to 73 hours I felt ready to tackle a 120 hr fast. Also researching and checking out other IG peeps that do extended fasts is extremely helpful. @beautifulbingeeater is a great motivator and shares tons of knowledge on her page. Dag 9 I dag har ting gått i ett, har kun fått i meg en fettkaffe (kaffe med kokos olje) i dag' overraskende nok har jeg likevel ikke kjent på sult. Ettersom jeg har fått i meg mye fett de andre dagene, har jeg tenkt at det fettet jeg har i meg også er en viktig årsak til at jeg ikke har vært sulten. Nå tenker jeg at det nok var stor hjelp med fett de første dagene. Men kroppen er så langt inn i ketose nå at den finnes ikke sulten. I mårra blir siste og 10-ende #fastedag av denne #utvidafaste#extendedfasting dette har vært enklere enn man skulle tro. Men #målbevisst og en dose #viljestyrke må påregnes. Torsdag skal jeg spise igjen. Og da skal jeg kjøre så rent og karbofritt som mulig, det blir lite grønt den første uka. I've been waiting until the new moon to start my first extended fast. I made the mistake of over indulging last night. I woke up bleary-eyed to my reminder that today, in fact is the day to go next level. I'm also on day four my cycle. Lame, but I'm taking a never say die attitude. I plan to detox and hydrate like crazy in prep to fast tomorrow. #nevertoolate
Made it into the gym for an easy workout despite the frigid temps and being fasted.
62 hours into my fast and still not really hungry, but I am feeling sleepy this morning. Not sure if the sleepiness is due to the fast or getting less than 7 hrs of sleep.

I want to address why I fast and why I share about my fasting as I’ve gotten some trolls and negative comments about it lately.
First, I’m not promoting fasting, I’m simply sharing what works for me. I’m a recovering bulimic and binge eater and for me it doesn’t trigger bingeing and I’ll never be anorexic, it’s not my issue. It helps tremendously with the urge to binge and cravings no longer control me. It’s been my solution and has literally changed my life for the better.
If you have an eating disorder or my fasting ‘triggers’ you, unfollow me and don’t Fast!!!! I can make my own decisions and you can make yours. I get that fasting isn’t for everyone and isn’t the only way. It is a good thing for me however and I’m sorry but trolls or ‘triggered’ people aren’t going to stop me from sharing or fasting. I’m genuinely sorry if it ‘triggers’ you but the solution is for you to quit viewing my page, not for me to stop what I’m doing. *also I have regular check ups with a doctor to make sure I’m in good health and I’m in great health!

About to finish day 8 of 10 of my water fast. I’ve shared a lot of the positive things that happen while fasting and benefits. (See previous posts). Tonight I want to share some of the not so pleasant side effects. So many people tell me why they can’t fast and almost all the things I’m told are things I experience on my fast.
1-Day 1-2. You’re gonna be hungry as hell, especially day 2 and even into 3. If you wait it out, the physical hunger usually goes away within 20 minutes. It’s the mental hunger that gets you.
2- I get irritable sometimes and stress feels intensified. I have to do things to relax like hot baths and time to myself even for just 5 minutes.
3-physical stress intensified for me as well. For instance you feel caffeine (I’m not drinking caffeine on this fast)much stronger or medications at least for me. I even got light headed after a really hot shower once.
4-I get light headed, brain fog, have sleeping issues, and headaches, and these symptoms are all remedied with electrolytes and almost always pass.
When you are fasting your body is detoxing and releasing toxins. You go through a process called atophagy where your body is literally eating and excreting bad cells in your body. (This is scientifically proven). You aren’t gonna feel good at times when this is happening. It will pass. There are times where you’ll feel awesome and get the highs from the norepinephrine and ketone boosts but you won’t see this until at least day 4 sometimes longer. Just like the bad symptoms they come and go. It also gets easier the more you do it. My first Fast was really rough.
If I am experiencing something really negative like extreme light headedness or weakness and can’t remedy it, I stop. The key is really to listen to your body and realize it’s ok to experience some of these negative side effects and work through them as long as you can do so safely. Also don’t feel like you need to fast extended like I do, you can do alternate day and be just as effective!
It was my new year's resolution to complete one extended 24 hour fast per month this year in addition to my daily Intermittent Fasting. I just completed my January fast today and it felt great!! Due to some changes that occur in the gut lining during a fast, it is wise to break an extended fast slowly over a couple of hours. I like to do it by sipping on some warm homemade bone broth with added grassfed beef gelatin, collagen peptides, and MCT oil and seasoned with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
So healing and gentle to the fasted gut lining, and the healthy proteins and fats cause a nice even rise in blood glucose with a steady insulin release.

Extended Fasting: I am (just about) 86 hours into this “adventure.” I can firmly say that 3-4 days of fasting is completely do able. I can also firmly say that my doctor is loco en la cabeza (crazy in the head) if she thinks I will be doing this once a month. Granted, I am saying that here and now, but I also told her in 2014 that I would not give up pasta or bread or cupcakes for more than 40 days (i.e., Lent) ... and here we are four years later and I am 105 days without gluten/grains. So, I know to never say never .... In other news, Satan Kitty decided that I needed a hot tea before weighing myself this morning, as she would not remove herself from the scale.
