Less than 10 hours until I complete my 72hour fast!
I will remain eating keto on refeeding meals but I’ve become a totally fat-burning machine who can stay sated and well for long periods of time off my own fat stores and supplemental electrolytes. Once I acheive my desired goal, I will continue to eat keto and do sporadic short fasts for THE REST OF MY LIFE. Keto is life. Fasting is life.

I ended my fast early 😒 not because I was hungry or feeling bad but because I was so COLD! Apparently during an extended fast your core body temperature drops. For me it was too much. I’m normally a “hot” person. I can’t sleep under covers, I’m walking around in a tank top while everyone else is in sweaters. So being cold and not being able to get warm was extremely uncomfortable for me. I’m happy I surpassed my previous fasting time and will try again for 120 hours next month. I’ll probably incorporate broth and more pickle juice next month to try and reach my goal. #fasting #keto #endedearly #liveandlearn #extendedfasting #91hrs #stillhappywithmyprogress

Good morning, it's day 3 of this water fast. Expected more loss by now tbh. The first week or two is meant to be higher numbers especially considering how overweight I am, and it being mostly water weight you drop. Hoping for a whoosh to happen over the next few days. Don't think I'm getting enough sleep/rest either which I know is important. My tongue feels like cardboard 👅

Preparation made ALL the difference. I feasted for three days beforehand, with lots of fats and whole foods like steak and avocado—at least 2000 calories or more. Read Dr. Fung for the science behind this. Feasting prepares your body and also ramps up your metabolism. .

During my fast I drank lots of hot tea and hot salt water, which tasted delicious after a while. I didn’t limit my salt water, and had as much as I needed to quell hunger. This made such a huge difference! .

I’ve heard that fasting gets easier the more you do it, and I’ve found that to be true. The first 24 hours were a breeze this time around. Hormones become more balanced with each fast. I’ll be feasting for the next several days before starting another! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

I was overcome with weakness after a bath and so I went to bed. I shivered and my body temperature dropped to 97.5. I slept for an hour, and the sleep was strange. I woke up and had a glass of sea salt and water, followed by tea. .

I am reading and keeping myself mostly horizontal today. It is the only day I do not teach. Rest during fasting is super important. Activity actually SLOWS the process! .

My metabolism is switching over. #autophagy is in full swing. I am healing and regenerating. It’s very uncomfortable. .

I thought I would do some sound healing to ease the process and regulate my vibration. If you don’t have a bowl, simply listening to beautiful instrumental music or saying “aaauuuummmmmm, aaaaauummmm, auuuuummmmm” is good. Sound heals. Sound soothes. 
I am well.

(1/3) On my birthday, all the guys over at @mindpumpmedia were partaking in a 72 hour fast attempt. I really wanted to do it, but there were already planned dinners and family outings I had to go to, so I unfortunately couldn’t. HOWEVER, I’ve decided to do it now. It’s been 12 hours since I’ve eaten anything, and I’m in it for the full 72!

I feel fine. I ate a bunch of food yesterday, vegetables, meat and maybe some Nutella.. plus I’m used to fasting the full day. I think when it’s gonna get hard is tomorrow morning. Honestly the benefits of fasting are so massive, especially an extended fast, that I may follow in the footsteps of @jockowillink and do one every 3 months.

Still taking it pretty easy with food from my 10 day Fast. I made chicken and rice (cauliflower) soup in my instant pot. 
This is a great simple recipe to transition back to eating after fasting. 
Recipe: 2 large raw chicken breasts
3 stalks of celery (chopped)
Bag of plain frozen riced cauliflower 
1/4 c of diced yellow onion
32 ounces chicken broth
16 ounces of water 
2 bay leaves
Garlic, salt, and pepper to taste.
I cook it on the chicken setting 
Shred the chicken when complete and serve

And the fasting continues.. I’m halfway to my goal of 120 hours. I feel great, I’m still working out ( using light weight during the fast) and am drinking about 4 gallons of water a day. Second picture is after my first full day of fasting. Now here is  the important part.... ready??? Fasting is NOT for everyone, and it’s not something to be taken lightly. I’ve been following an IF schedule for yrs 16:8 currently, Previously 19:5 . I started by first extending my already in progress fast until I was able to do 24 hrs, after that I set out to reach 30 hrs and so on and so on. Once I got to 73 hours I felt ready to tackle a 120 hr fast. Also researching and checking out other IG peeps that do extended fasts is extremely helpful. @beautifulbingeeater is a great motivator and shares tons of knowledge on her page. Weight loss for the week: 7 pounds. What in the world!?! That is all thanks to: (1) my first extended four-and-a-half day fast and (2) eating as close to zero carbs as possible the past three days off the fast. I have zero expectations of having another week like this one with so much weight loss, as I know there will be weeks I struggle to lose half of a pound, so I am soaking in the thrill  now. Ok... so I’m better at eating the food on the plate than I am with the presentation... but regardless of how it looks, it tasted delish! Bratwurst sausage and a sweet pepper with cream cheese and cheddar to break my 47hr fast 💪 Didn’t quite make it to 48hrs, which is annoying, but I’m still getting over this flu and I was ravenous! Dag 9  I dag har ting gått i ett, har kun fått i meg en fettkaffe (kaffe med kokos olje) i dag' overraskende nok har jeg likevel ikke kjent på sult. Ettersom jeg har fått i meg mye fett de andre dagene, har jeg tenkt at det fettet jeg har i meg også er en viktig årsak til at jeg ikke har vært sulten. Nå tenker jeg at det nok var stor hjelp med fett de første dagene. Men kroppen er så langt inn i ketose nå at den finnes ikke sulten. I completed my first diet bet today! I started @ketoincanada ‘s diet bet on December 19th and it finished today. The diet bet goal is to lose 4% of your weight in 28 days. My goal to reach this was 6.8 lbs. I weighed out today with 13.1 lbs down! I joined @fatgirlfedup ‘s diet bet on Jan. 7 so it would overlap with @ketoincanada ‘s and I could keep going. Had my last meal earlier on this afternoon. Really just want to knock out this extended water fast I've been dreaming about once & for all. 8 days is my current record. Determined to beat that. I see my fave fasters who first inspired me have disappeared from IG. Their support was awesome & I hope my attempt will inspire them to come back. Fasting is a muscle & every attempt of a long water fast is not a "failure" no matter how many days we do, but actually something to be celebrated. Made it into the gym for an easy workout despite the frigid temps and being fasted. 
62 hours into my fast and still not really hungry, but I am feeling sleepy this morning. Not sure if the sleepiness is due to the fast or getting less than 7 hrs of sleep.

I want to address why I fast and why I share about my fasting as I’ve gotten some trolls and negative comments about it lately. 
First, I’m not promoting fasting, I’m simply sharing what works for me.  I’m a recovering bulimic and binge eater and for me it doesn’t trigger bingeing and I’ll never be anorexic, it’s not my issue. It helps tremendously with the urge to binge and cravings no longer control me. It’s been my solution and has literally changed my life for the better.
If you have an eating disorder or my fasting ‘triggers’ you, unfollow me and don’t Fast!!!! I can make my own decisions and you can make yours. I get that fasting isn’t for everyone and isn’t the only way.  It is a good thing for me however and I’m sorry but trolls or ‘triggered’ people aren’t going to stop me from sharing or fasting. I’m genuinely sorry if it ‘triggers’ you but the solution is for you to quit viewing my page, not for me to stop what I’m doing. *also I have regular check ups with a doctor to make sure I’m in good health and I’m in great health!

Day 9 of 10 water fasting. I’ve officially broken my record which was 201 hours. You can see from my pics I started this Fast with some bloating and it’s now gone. I’ve got to figure out what’s causing it, my guess is either artificial sweeteners or dairy... I’m going to eliminate the sweeteners first. (Aspartame, Splenda etc). Just need to get to the bottom of it and get it fixed.

About to finish day 8 of 10 of my water fast. I’ve shared a lot of the positive things that happen while fasting and benefits. (See previous posts). Tonight I want to share some of the not so pleasant side effects. So many people tell me why they can’t fast and almost all the things I’m told are things I experience on my fast.
1-Day 1-2.  You’re gonna be hungry as hell, especially day 2 and even into 3. If you wait it out, the physical hunger usually goes away within 20 minutes. It’s the mental hunger that gets you.
2- I get irritable sometimes and stress feels intensified. I have to do things to relax like hot baths and time to myself even for just 5 minutes. 
3-physical stress intensified for me as well. For instance you feel caffeine (I’m not drinking caffeine on this fast)much stronger or medications at least for me. I even got light headed after a really hot shower once. 
4-I get light headed, brain fog, have sleeping issues, and headaches, and these symptoms are all remedied with electrolytes and almost always pass.
When you are fasting your body is detoxing and releasing toxins. You go through a process called atophagy where your body is literally eating and excreting bad cells in your body. (This is scientifically proven). You aren’t gonna feel good at times when this is happening. It will pass. There are times where you’ll feel awesome and get the highs from the norepinephrine and ketone boosts but you won’t see this until at least day 4 sometimes longer. Just like the bad symptoms they come and go.  It also gets easier the more you do it. My first Fast was really rough. 
If I am experiencing something really negative like extreme light headedness or weakness and can’t remedy it, I stop.  The key is really to listen to your body and realize it’s ok to experience some of these negative side effects and work through them as long as you can do so safely. Also don’t feel like you need to fast extended like I do, you can do alternate day and be just as effective!

Due to some changes that occur in the gut lining during a fast, it is wise to break an extended fast slowly over a couple of hours. I like to do it by sipping on some warm homemade bone broth with added grassfed beef gelatin, collagen peptides, and MCT oil and seasoned with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.

So healing and gentle to the fasted gut lining, and the healthy proteins and fats cause a nice even rise in blood glucose with a steady insulin release.

Extended Fast: DAY 4.5. Woo-hoo! I made it 13 hours longer than I thought humanly possible (well, for this human anyway). I have another hour until brunch time is about to go down. I am beyond excited for my pending frittata and steak (and also for tonight’s curry). 🍽 Final weight is 286 ... starting weight was 292.6. Now, I am fully aware that there will be a weight gain due to the fact that there is ZERO food in my body at the present second. Ya’ll this tastes like XMAS. I usually get the “I love my liver” or “I love my brain” from @teatonic ... but they taste no where as lovely and like XMAS morning as this one (I believe it is the clove and the cinnamon together). It has zero sugars (real, fake, or sugar alcohols) and zero carbs, so the doc said perfectly legit for the fast. Not an ad. Not product placement. Day 7 of 10 water fasting.. not my bacon and eggs 😭. My dad had back surgery and I’m taking care of him today and the other plate is my nieces. My dad has been Keto for 6 months. When he started his blood pressure was so high we were worried he could have a stroke at anytime, and he refused medication. Yesterday at his surgical follow up it was 112/75.  He’s 62. Keto and IF clearly works, he’s also lost quite a bit of weight.

Extended Fasting: I am (just about) 86 hours into this “adventure.” I can firmly say that 3-4 days of fasting is completely do able. I can also firmly say that my doctor is loco en la cabeza (crazy in the head) if she thinks I will be doing this once a month. Granted, I am saying that here and now, but I also told her in 2014 that I would not give up pasta or bread or cupcakes for more than 40 days (i.e., Lent) ... and here we are four years later and I am 105 days without gluten/grains. So, I know to never say never .... In other news, Satan Kitty decided that I needed a hot tea before weighing myself this morning, as she would not remove herself from the scale. This day j just haven't been trustful of myself. I am just ready for this fast to be finished. But the finish line is so so close. So instead of eating the things I want to eat i.e. onigiri, Korean BBQ ( I turned down an invite to go out for food 😔), steak, loaded potatoes etc. I've been watching lots of cooking videos. And I know it sounds crazy but it's actually been helping me. Idk why. Oh and smelling my roommates food. Ugh it's the best. I can smell everything he's put in it and the smell lingers and oddly that's helpful. Tomorrow is day 7 and I'm one step closer to proving myself.
