So my instafriend @krisnichgill came up with an awesome idea of a Facebook group that connects with other individuals with various fitness & health goals. No goal is too big or too small. It's just a fun and supportive group to share recipes, exercises or whatever you want! If you are interested comment your email below and I can add you tomorrow 😍 let me or @krisnichgill know if you have any questions and we will answer them for you! We are super excited about this and am hopeful this will be a great group!
I think this is one of my favorite features from #myfitnesspal helps me realize that everyday counts in my journey and see some light at the end of the tunnel. Who else uses #myfitnesspal ???? Add me! User name samakins
Just finished my second workout of the day, some core de force!! Cooling off on my back deck, also trying to finish the last 20oz of water I need to have! Bruh I'm sooooo ready for bed lol! #coredeforce 🥊
Had an awesome time at the pride parade on Sunday, plus got some great swag. 😍 Had yogurt again this morning without honey and turns out fruit adds more than enough natural sweetness. 😀 Going to try making overnight oats for tomorrow. 😋
PSA: NON SCALE VICTORIES ARE IMPORTANT AND SHOULD BE CELEBRATED 🎉 these were my bottom of the drawer pants. i never really loved how they fit. they didn't compress my tummy, the stripes on the side made hips look huge and the pleats in the knees made me look like i had sausage legs. at least those were the things i told myself. so they lived at the bottom of the drawer until one day (today) i didn't have time (because i was catching up on drag race) to do laundry and thus forcing me to wear the horrible stuffed sausage pants. AND YALL WHEN I PUT THEM ON THEY WERE TOO BIG. like y'all look at these suckers, i had to hike them up to my bra line. and this victory made me realize that it was never about the pants. in fact i was wearing these pants when i was 50 pounds heavier and had no problem. it wasn't until i started picking apart my body that i started picking apart the pants. self love and body love is a choice. it's choosing to wake up everyday and silencing the voice in the back of your head. it's choosing to love every piece. it's choosing to love the journey. so this victory wasn't about celebrating saying goodbye to these pants, it was about celebrating the girl in them. the girl in progress. --------------------------------
Pork chop with rice and a veggie stir fry. I sautéed the veggies with some garlic and ginger. Super yummy. Getting anxious for my weigh in. I've got two weeks to make it count 👊🏻#weightlossjourney#extremeweightloss
I know that this is a fitness page, but I figured sharing small amounts of my personal life with some of you may help you get to know me a little better. I first want to say- that I know with the majority of significant weight gain, or loss- often times mental health situations often occur with it. I know for a fact it did with mine, and I've personally been there to see and encourage some of you awesome ladies through it.
Yesterday I had to do one of the hardest things I will likely do in my lifetime, none the less to someone that used to be very near and dear to my heart. I'll rephrase that- he still is very near and dear to my heart, but due to debilitating illnesses, he is no longer the person who raised me into the adult I am today. Yesterday I had to admit my father, war veteran, leukemia survivor, stroke survivor, heart attack survivor, NOW a vascular dementia fighter...and my best friend growing up into psychiatric care. I don't know where we go from here, but I do know the role of his life has now been completely reversed, and I hope that in his time there he is able to get the mental health and medication that he so desperately needs.
So I do apologize if I am not on as much in the next two weeks. Or if I don't reply right away. Just know that I promise I will get back to you as soon as I can. This is a learning process for me, as well as my family- and as his "person", it's my job to make sure his best interest is continually being honored while he is in hospital. Thanks y'all 💚 •••
Quick ways to help with stress…. put on your favourite song -
Besides giving you some great feelings and invoking happy memories, music is a huge stress-reliever . Blast just one of your top tunes and you’ll forget all your worries—or, at least reduce them a bit.
HOKAY, so. Laying on the floor Bc I'm nasty sweaty & also Bc I can't get up. Tonight I did 80 flights of stairs in 21 mins, which was exciting and surprising - my left knee is SO EFFING WEAK. Realizing it's going to take some time to get it back to a decent place. But I had a killer workout, burning over 500cals & my shoulders are still shaking 😅. Going to make some chicken & veggies for din! Happy Tuesday, fam!! // #wls#vsg
Another fast, easy & HEALTHY dinner.
Microwave brown rice 3 min
Cook mixed veggies on stove 3-5 min
Cook garlic and olive oil 1 min on stove, add cooked shrimp.
Mix all together!
Add soy sauce.
I added a drop of spicy sesame oil to mine for taste.
You can substitute brown rice for cauliflower rice.
I wanted to explain WHY this meal is so healthy.
There are important components to a meal.
The first most important part of the meal if you are trying to get fit is the protein. You want a high source of protein in every meal and snack. It should also be lean.
For example, fried chicken drumsticks with skin is not lean. You want to eat chicken without skin and breast is the best choice. White meat is leanest.
For beef, choices like sirloin are lean. Ground beef should be the leanest they sell in which 93/7 is best. Ground turkey is a better alternative (another white meat). Second component is your "good" carb. Brown rice, sweet potato or whole grain or whole wheat is best. Stay away from white rice, white potato or white pasta. When it's white it has been bleached which is harder to digest and it's not natural.
Third component is your veggies. Veggies have tons of nutrients and also have fiber to digest your food and meat. Green or dark veggies are best.
Fourth component is your "good" fat. Example is olive oil which I cooked in. Another healthy fat is avocado, nuts, seeds, coconut oil...things like that.
That is how you should eat your meals.
If you are trying to lose weight, you can skip that carb at dinner time. Carbs are used for energy but since it's the end of the day, we don't use it for energy and so unused carbs get stored as fat.
They also make you retain water "carbo-HYDRATE". That's why you will wake up feeling bloated if you eat a heavy meal high in carbs before bed.
And it's hard for your body to break down heavy food while you sleep so it will also make you wake up feeling sluggish.
Hope those tips help!
According to IG I ate too much today because they don't have enough boxes for all my photos. 🤣🤣🤣 I started my day with Nuun, cereal bar on the way to the gym, my Bcaa's once I got there... then protein on the way home. And then I was just famished all day. I think the last time I was hungry and ate like this was the day after my marathon. 🤣💪🏻 Ending my night with an early bedtime and half an English muffin and peanut butter. There may be a slight smear of butter on there too. Get in my tummy!
I love using Snapchat to record videos! I hate hearing my own voice! Its easier to watch myself😂. If you are in #columbus and are looking to get microblading, waxing, tinting or what have you.
