This little lady was all smiles the other day, as she played on the top of Tiger Mountain. The sun was shining, there was barely a breeze, and we just laid there in the sun, soaking it all in.
I'll always take it up as a successful adventure, when we get back down to the beginning of the trail, and she exclaims, "I LOVE this one, mommy!". Oh my heart, I hope you always make time for adventure!
Yesterday's Choose-Your-Own ADVENTure activity was to follow an ant bug or a track.
We followed the path through this lighted outdoor Christmas extravaganza - Luminaria.
It was a great way to feel the holiday spirit while spending time outdoors with my family. The only complaint my kids had was their hands were cold but that was their own fault because they chose to leave their gloves in the car. Always listen to your mom people!

This is my little clan.
More than ever, I have learned over the past few years how different we all are as people. I used to think there was 'One Certain Surefire Way' to live life, but now I'm certain that I was mostly wrong. We are all as unique as our fingerprints. God loves us all in individual ways, not all the same way as if we were all the same to Him. That has taught me to love my kids and relate to them in unique ways.
Similarly, marriage to Emily is almost always different than what marriage books would say is the 'right way'. It baffled me for years; 'why does none of this marriage book stuff work on my wife?' As if I could plug her into an algorithm and that would make for a 'perfect' marriage! Eventually, we stopped saying things like 'all guys are like this' or 'all women like this kind of thing so why don't you?'. We realized how unique we were and once we accepted that, things started to smooth out.
My little family is made up of unique individuals which makes it different than any other family. We don't fit into a box, we aren't in a particular category. And you know what? That's just fine with us!
The toddlers favorite thing about winter? Eating snow 🙈😂. At least she sat long enough for me to capture this 😍!
Family adventure: it doesn’t have to be big, but we make it a priority to spend time together, outside, exploring our world. And it’s a delightful bonus when we get another adventuring family to play with us. What’s your family/own priority?

We dismantled the wind generators so we can crack them open and see if they still live. None of us are crazy about how wind generators change the visual profile of the boat, but when you need enough electricity for six people, they are hard to beat.
The generators are Aerogen 6 models, which are unfortunately no longer made. Hopefully we can get them up and running without needing much in the way of spare parts!
Aerogens have an excellent power output curve in trade wind conditions. And they run quiet, which is a huge relief to us and everyone else in the anchorage.
