These photos are very touching and special for me. They were taken 2,5 weeks after I gave birth and remind me August, sweet and loving, crazy and chaotic. I haven't been that sensitive in my whole life as much as during that month!
I had a giant to do list for August: planned to finish our nursery, have the car seat installed by a professional, visit breastfeeding classes, meet more mamas to be, get a haircut, pack a bag for a hospital (almost 4 weeks in advance is surely enough time, right?), read books about baby care, buy little baby necessities, finish sorting out and editing photos that piled up from June/July, make photobooks of year 2016 and start the one of 2017 cause I thought I might not have enough time later (how wise of me 😄), etc... Well... I learned the first parenting lesson very quickly: throw away your list of plans in a trash can. Cause from now on you are just a personal assistant of a little baby boss. And if he decides to come 4 weeks early or nurse all day or sleep for only 2 hours or pee every 10 min - you just "suck it up buttercup" as some very "funny" man told me (my husband). He got this advice from another wise man (his uncle) to tell me during pregnancy and see my reaction (you can imagine it!). But I must admit it is pretty funny 😄
At the same time it is absolutely precious to hold this tiny human being and realize that he depends on and grows from your love. The pain goes away, nights get longer, smiles get bigger. You get into a routine and start having all the new exciting adventures as a family of 3! 😍
I'm so thankful to be able to give this life and love. We have plenty to share with him, with our beloved family and dear friends.
Cheers to parenthood: the most exhausting and yet the most rewarding job in the world! ❤️ PS Oh yeah: suck it up buttercups! 😄
