Elijah and his second cousin Kairi play a cell phone game under a single lamp light after a long day on the lake yesterday.
This house was erected in 2015 on the footprint of the original lake house which stood for at least a half of a century. My mother and her family spent a lot of time in it as she grew up and my cousins continued the tradition as they grew. The last time I was here was 23 years ago in the original lake house.
Kairi's dad, my cousin Craig, said to me that it was sad to see the old house go because he had developed so many memories over the years. But that he was also happy that his children, and by extension Elijah and Connor, could now develop their own memories unique to themselves. I couldn't agree more.
