The SSAWG Board of Directors thanks YOU for participating in the #ssawg2018 conference. With members currently residing in TN, KY, AR, AL, MS, NC, SC, LA, and TX our Board is meeting today to discuss the continued growth and evolution of the organization.
Meet our #intern John who has been working with us for the past months in #Lieta :
John holds a BSc. degree in #Agroforestry and #Rural Development.
But let him introduce himself: 'Upon deciding to undertake my study, I observed that population is escalating & thus demand for both agricultural and settlement land is inevitably on steady rise. #seasonal harvestings have drastically reduced due to decline in #soil fertility and erratic #climatechange , thus conventional #Agriculture and access to wood based and allied resources is increasingly becoming infeasible.
In regard, there is a need for intentional #integration of mutually #interactive#land use #systems , practices & technologies with the motive of upscaling #ecological and #socioeconomic benefits. #Communities need to be #empowered since they are at the vicinity of most natural resources. This has therefore inspired me to facilitate #empowerment through enhancing a #self -sustaining agricultural & environmental activities, a move which has been given practical attention by Happy Villages.
Thanks to Happy Villages for restoring landscape while enhancing food security.' It’s always such a pleasure to work with like-minded people & to grow our #community of environmentally-conscious #farmers . Thanks John for your dedication & for being such a great asset to our #team in Lieta.

Work break spent washing a (very clean) water buffalo in farmer outfits at the Four Seasons? Check. Thanks for being ridiculous with me @jectatham 💁🏻
