Our afternoon hike at #DeerIsland had a little bit of everything - old farm structures, golden fields, dozens of overly brave lizards, and a secluded glade where an enormous colony of tiny frogs responded to our arrival by ricocheting through the bay leaves like miniature firecrackers.
One of those mini-frogs was completely undaunted by my efforts to introduce myself. After I gently shepherd him into my palm, he turned and stared me down with the stoniest poker face I've ever seen on a creature that small.
Seriously. This frog was like the tiny Godfather of the Deer Island Colony of Froglets. So I paid my respects and we went on our way.
