#Anorexia (or anorexia nervosa) is a serious mental/ eating disorder that afflicts primarily young women (although men are also known to suffer from it.) It is characterized by low weight, a strong fear of gaining weight, and the desire to be thin, resulting in food restriction.
Many people with anorexia see themselves as overweight even though they are in fact underweight.
If asked they usually deny they have a problem with weight.
Sufferers might weigh themselves frequently, eat only small amounts and certain foods, exercise excessively, force themselves to vomit, or use laxatives to produce weight loss.
Anorexia comes with many health risks including anemia, infertility, osteoporosis (fragile bones), hypoglycemia, loss of hair, lowered body tempature, tearing of the intestines due to lack of food, ulcers, and women often stop menstruating. #7
⚠Anorexia is NOT a choice, it is a disease, and unfortunately misconcieved as a pathetic diet. Anorexia has the highest mortality rate of any mental disorder, and therefore should be taken seriously.
