Tuesday night sneaky peek at my newest colourway (as of yet unnamed). Merino/silk/yak fingering yarn, with a sheen that needs to be seen ♥deep deep navy, followed by turquoise, teal, all manner of greens, a hint of violet and gold. Inspiration taken from a very close inspection of a peacock feather.
I love a good face forward, smiling dog portrait, but perfect profiles like this feel so REGAL. Not to mention the stunning background color choice that really makes this portrait pop! Swipe for a detail shot.
I’m excited to announce my Moose Wreath Hand Embroidery Pattern is up in my #etsystudio shop! This pattern is easy to stitch—it only uses one stitch type, but looks much more complex. I love these colors together but it would also look striking in black and white. Anyone else out there as obsessed with #moose as I am?
Prepping the next yarn for the Smoke tapestry: gritty and lush corespun Gotland locks from the alchemical hands of @aureliantownsend ... I always feel sort of witchy turning skeins in to cakes, perhaps it’s all of the fairy tales and folklore I read growing up, or maybe there is an ancient magic that is awoken in the process of transforming fiber in to art?
A beautiful reminder via social media, of the beginnings of my #petportraits business.
It all began 1 year ago, when I watched a video showing how wool fibres could be used to their best, to depict #animal loved ones. @sarahvaci_artist was the artist and her work really inspired me to create my own portrait of my beautiful Evie.
Evie was a #saluki#lurcher , such a pretty girl, with her immaculate lined eyes. She was my best friend, my confidant, my cuddle monster and through our love, we bonded really strongly. Tragically she was struck down with #cancer and lost the fight, at only 4 years. Losing her still chokes me to tears.
Obviously time moves on and we find ways of coping with our #grief and creating her portrait was a massive #healing process.
I loved her #portrait so much, that I wanted to give this service to others. A #celebration of happy #memories shared.
My girl now the face of my business, and it seems she is still with me on the journey.

A problem with this fabric is that I have to do some specific stuff for photos and I often set it to the side and say "I'll get that on the way to bed" and the past few days I remember to photograph when I am in bed... so here are some natural light photos from the past few days as my catch up! Day 20: the light green near fly stitch. Day 21: I added some fabric from a shirt I dyed for C with ribbon lazy daisies. Day 22: a tiny red rose because this is one of my last 2002 DMC threads and it has shouted "ROSE" at me since I bought it. .
