oskar and alexa just finished up a whole butt-ton of hard work creating their series GOING THERE for soulpancake! if you have been following along, that's amazing! if you haven't, hit the link in my bio and you can see what they accomplished!
We are all headed somewhere. Sometimes it's the right direction. And sometimes not. We don't always have the answers, but we can ask the One who does. He knows the way you should go and exactly how to get you there.
...And that's a wrap for #MagneticMovie ! The endless winter has actually come to and end.
When @jefftheory3 brought me on board to work on this film with him and @graemesgrams I was not only excited to work with some of Whistlers most talented filmmakers, but also excited to be shooting with an all-time crew of athletes... people I’ve looked up to since I was a wee lad.
I learned a lot about the Whistler Blackcomb accessible terrain, and I never would have imagined that some of the locations we shot at were on resort…. I wished I knew about this 10 years ago.
The friends I’ve made and adventures I’ve been on throughout this production will last a lifetime. Thank you to those involved, you know who you are. Thanks for being patient, and working with our unique vision, and a special shout out to Ski Patrol for letting us get in your way.
Magnetic will be released online, Telus Optic TV and in theaters / festivals this October | photo: @mike_helfrich #Whistler#winter#filmmaking#MOW#ItWasSunnyTomorrow
During the making of #freetorock we went and visited the dungeon where Pete Anderson had once been interrogated; and then, accompanied by two armed guards, led us outside to the courtyard, where thousands of Latvians deemed untrustworthy by the KGB and Gestapo had once been hung. We continued walking as he then led us down some stops to the doors of the dungeon, where thousands more had been tortured, shot and electrocuted. The guards took the locks off of the chains, opened the doors, and we began descending down a long, narrow, circular and dark stone stairway. There was no electricity in the dungeon, but we did have flashlights. None of our guides had ever been down into these death chambers. It was a chilling and haunting experience. Nothing had been touched since the Soviets left in the middle of the night. Not the paper documents, the bullet holes in the walls and cell doors, the platforms for the electrocutions, or the thousands of spent bullet shells left in open boxes on the floors.
Afterwards, we interviewed Pete outside the building, in front of the Memorial built to honor all those that perished at the hands of the Russians. He was still numb, after reliving his experiences with the KGB and thinking of the thousands of Latvians who died behind those walls. #PeteAnderson#film#filmmaking#filmstowatch#filmisnotddead#tuesdayvibes#tuesdays#tuesdaymotivation#rockibilly#rockandroll#documentary

So sad to hear about the passing of actress Lisa Spoonauer today. She was a major part of @thatkevinsmith's Clerks which inspired so many of us to become filmmakers, chase our dreams, and pour our heart and souls into making #ShootingClerks . Farewell, Caitlin Bree... 💔
#PeteAnderson was a central figure in FREE TO ROCK and was a key inspiration for making the film. Few rockers have experienced the harassment and harsh treatment, Pete Anderson endured for 15 years from the KGB. They opened and read all the mail he sent or he received. With each arrest, they would interrogate him for hours on end, never letting him know if and when they might release him.
The KGB once beat him nearly to death, where he fought for his life two weeks in the hospital. On another occasion, they threatened to kill his daughter if he didn't stop sing Rock and Roll. He wasn't singing protest songs. He was just singing songs by Ricky Nelson and Fats Domino, but the Kremlin felt threatened by his influence over the youth. #freetorock#film#filmmaking#filmstowatch#filmisnotddead#rockibilly#documentary#coldwarhistory#coldwar#berlinwall#russianrock#rockandroll#music#tuesdaymotivation
