Real talk: maintaining proper weight on little dogs is insanely difficult. I drop both dog’s meal intake 0.2oz during the winter. Just that 0.2oz makes the different between a chubby sausage Atticus and the one you see in the picture. The cold temps seem to inspire some hibernation tactics and the dogs pack on weight like crazy, even when the exercise stays the same! Well this year...it was still fairly warm so I didn’t think to reduce their food until two weeks ago. I spent two days away from the dogs and came to realize both were losing their waists already 😳 Dropped their meal intake and two weeks later the pups are back to normal. So yay!! Well Scarlett still has a ways to go but she’s on track (she’s pushing 12.8 pounds and should be 12). But it wasn’t always this easy. When I first started a raw diet, I had Atticus on 2.5oz a day...he ballooned up to 9 pounds in a matter of weeks (he’s supposed to be 7.9 😑). It took me nearly 6 months to get the weight off. He’s now on 2.0oz a day and doing great!
For those with littles...I understand the struggle. It’s not an excuse to let you pups get overweight, just a call to action to be vigilant and watch their waists!!

Wonderful visit to #pleanparkrun his weekend for their inaugural. Lovely course, especially for #dogs Bee had a ball and dragged me round to #firstfemale and #firstdog despite us going very steady on a few bits of tarmac! Delighted with our run & very proud to be part of #parkrun history as a course record holder - even though I’m sure it will go next week!! Only blip in our run was how much being overtaken by one of “her” people confused the poor dog! 🙈
so my best friend aka one of Starks favorite people (@jodibrookebader ) has been away for a few months and came home yesterday and as you can see stark was very excited!! (please ignore my voice. I promise it's not actually that high)
