Healthy energy on the go! 💫
A little different ‘Transformation Tuesday’. 8 and a half months ago I went on my second course of Roaccutane, these photos are no where near as bad as I was the first (or second) time. -

My acne was cystic, the same spots would be there for 2 months straight then would scar badly, then the same ones would come straight back again. My skin would get so so painful that even covering my scheme with makeup HURT. -

Roaccutane is a miracle drug with heavy heavy side effects. You can’t drink as it RUINS your liver, you can’t wax because your skin is so thin, you can’t get pregnant because your child would have severe birth defects, it causes depression and people have killed themselves on it. -

Roaccutane has made me incredibly down, incredibly self hating, incredible vulnerable. My joints ache constantly, a lot of the time I can’t walk because my ankles and knees hurt so so much. -

Never EVER under estimate the affect that acne has over a persons self esteem and overall mood.

Fitness means something different to every individual. Some people lift #weights, some people attend classes, some people focus on #cardio, some people just focus on minimal exercise but aim to eat a balanced and nutritional diet. And some do a mixture of all! 🚴‍♀️⛹️‍♀️🤸🏻‍♂️🏋🏻‍♀️🏊🏼‍♀️

I love #social #media for many reasons, but I don’t like it when it starts becoming very stereotypical and categorises what it means to be #fitness. And at the moment, it seems like you’re only #fitspo if you lift really heavy weights, have a big bum & are following a strict diet and showing weekly transformations, and without people realising, it then starts to disregard others who are bettering their lives with fitness in whichever way they choose to! (I’d like to say I’m not saying those who do all of the above are bad in anyway because it’s a style of training and everyone is different - and I for one am partial to a bum update as I love training glutes)⠀

I’ve seen a lot of cardio vs weight pictures and I TOTALLY get the message this is trying to create by saying that we should embrace what our bodies can do and look like from weight training, but again, without realising, it’s also suggesting that by doing cardio you are looking less of a person than those doing weights. So I think it’s something to be mindful of because it’s creating a stigma for those who just simply enjoy running or cardio at the gym 🤔⠀

Just a reminder ⚠️ Instagram has the power to make you feel pretty shit if you’re not following the latest trend... so shouldn’t we be trying to break that habit and therefore just encourage introducing fitness and a healthy lifestyle in to peoples life in whichever way is suitable to that individual - let’s stop suggesting what we HAVE to do to look a certain way or be considered a fitness inspiration 😴 ⠀

Patience & consistency are 🗝 
For me to get to this point, it took over 1.5 years. I was training 5 days a week (lifting weights), eating 6 meals a day and waiting! My blood sweat and tears went into everything because I knew what I wanted. It takes time to build quality muscle and being consistent and patient are the keys to achieving this.

I’m quitting Instagram.....
Hell NO!
So as many of you have seen the last couple of days I’ve had a photo that was reposted on three accounts that have a large following. In one aspect this is amazing because I want to help as many people as I can to find their self love and body confident. To change their mindsets and that of societies that says what “beautiful or healthy” is by looking at someone from the exterior.
However there’s also the trolls, lots of them, that sit behind a keyboard or a phone.
Comments such as:
- you’re fat
- you’re ugly
- you’re not healthy
- photoshopped
- big legs aren’t good
- since when is being fat healthy
There were a lot of comments and I mean A LOT!
Now don’t get me wrong in my journey I’ve been so lucky to have very little of these trolls but Sunday night I couldn’t get away.
I realised that this is the society that we live in, that people can look at a person on the exterior and say such nasty comments.
I couldn’t honestly believe it.
I understand that I put myself out to the public but should I expect to have such comments thrown under a photo of me?.....
I had two choices:
1) rise above it and ignore
2) delete Instagram for good
Don’t get me wrong for a few moments I did debate about deleting Instagram.
However that’s not me, I’m not a quitter and I’m here to EMPOWER & INSPIRE others & that’s exactly what I’m going to do!👍🏼
It worries me that someone could be in a different mindset and how this could affect them. I also wonder what people think of the word “healthy” and what defines this by purely looking at someone?... I just want to say a massive THANN YOU because I’ve had SO many messages from so many of you. Those close to me along to those who I don’t know! Your support is amazing and that’s why I’m going to carry on doing what I’m doing, for YOU. So that one day I can help at least one or two people along the way!💕

Just a little tip.. The gym you go to is SO important.. a few weeks back I was training in a local leisure centre gym with terrible facilities and it was so packed every night I couldn't workout.. I hated training and I hit a wall every week.. Since joining @gymuniquedurham I haven't missed a session  and I feel more motivated now than ever before. I'm surrounded by people who share the same passion, people who are so down to earth and people who generally motivate me. I see other people doing so well it makes me want to push myself. A month ago I hadn't deadlifted ever... today I got 60kg for 5x5 for the first time.. I am doing well and I am so proud of myself.

My tip: if you find yourself lacking motivation and you feel like you aren't progress, have a look at your gym and think 'is this the reason?'. Have a look into other gyms - it could change everything.

Let's take dieting for example if you're meant to be following a plan the one person who can really influence the decisions to be made i.e what you eat and drink is YOU!!!

However, a lot of decisions we make are based on habits we've picked up over many years. Going out for a few 'cheeky beers' on the weekend or eating certain foods, will stem from years of doing it

Many people think cutting out a whole macronutrient group - carbohydrates, is the only way for fat loss . I was told by one new client, it's the 'Devils Food' this is again learnt from many years of being told so. So as you can see extreme ideologies picked up over many years can cause long term implications ie being scared of food

This is why people can make uninformed decisions based on things they've learnt. So having power can be a good thing, but it's not always the case

You also have the power to decide what you like/don't like so even though a food maybe be deemed a 'superfood' ie avocados or kale and you don't like them? Then don't force yourself to eat them everyday. Pick foods you do like, which will make compliancy towards a plan much easier.

So often through Instagram the emphasis is on what you have achieved that you can take a picture of...you yummy breakfast you made or your glute pump that you just got from a session at the gym. Now I’m not saying these aren’t important but I think it is easy to forget about yourself in the process! Remember what your intention was from that workout and remind yourself how that workout made you feel. You should never use a workout like a punishment.
