Day 6/80 got me feeling like bring on the beach!! I can already feel the changes this program is having on me, and no it’s not just because yesterday was leg day and I cry a little every time I have to pick something up 🤣
Eating all those whole and healthy foods have given me so much energy and have helped in my workout recovery over the past week. I’ve been getting to bed at a regular time for a good rest and with the timed workout and nutrition I feel like the routine I’ve made is a solid one. One week down, twelve to go and only eleven until we are on the beach in the Dominican!
Making time to work out is NOT EASY. 💪🏼 I work three jobs, take care of my little one, and still *try* to have a social life (HAHA) 😭 going to the gym normally means leaving around 9pm when Aimery goes to bed, because there simply isn’t time during the day. But it’s SO important. 👊🏼 This month I have been getting back into shape, and it has really benefited me to focus on my self love ✨ thank you @ellieactivewear for encouraging me every month to put myself first. How do you make time to stay fit?

I started bodybuilding in college at Purdue University. I decided to pursue the gym with more dedication when knew I was no longer going to be playing soccer, the sport I had played my whole life. Being in college I became very body conscious, and for the first time, having the responsibility to create healthy meals in the dining courts. So I started to take advantage of the gym, and did my best to forage my own path to controlling my health independently. Once I moved into my own apartment and started making my OWN meals, I felt so completely empowered with what I could create nutrition wise, and that I could enjoy what I ate. Healthy cooking! Who knew! Everything started to align. My second semester junior year, I decided to do a bodybuilding contest. I wanted to know more about nutrition and how I could be the boss of my own health, and I did just that! I won my first competition, qualified for nationals, and turned pro at my next and second show of the year - Junior USAs in may. I have not only been succeeding well in a sport I love and learning how to control my well being, but I’ve gotten better in school since adding bodybuilding to my schedule. I plan to graduate in December of 2018, and hoping to journey straight to graduate school to get my PhD in sociology. I hope to study longevity, health and aging during my research, and investigate fitness contributions and trends in longevity health.
I’ve become empowered with what I can do with my nutrition in the kitchen, with fitness in the gym, and and with my intellect in school and through my own research. I want to empower others to keep empowering themselves to be their best self. To be YOU!

The other day I asked y’all what workout vids you wanted to see & it was mainly back & shoulders & then arms & then glutes/&legs 😅 SO here’s a shoulder workout I did. I focused on hitting all three heads of the shoulder (anterior, middle, & posterior). -
1️⃣Rear delt face pulls. As you can see with my form I’m allowing my arms to “cave” inward during the eccentric & during the concentric I externally rotate my shoulder to hit that muscle better 😍👌🏼
2️⃣Seated DB shoulder press
3️⃣Seated 90deg raise. Doing it seated to prevent using any momentum. I prefer these as oppose to full extending my arm bc I feel these a lot more.
4️⃣Bent over rear delt flies. Used 2.5lbs & the burn was REAL. I used to shy away from these bc I could barely use the smallest amount of weight. However, this is a great exercise for the rear delts so putting my pride aside & implementing them into my plan 💪🏼

5️⃣Rear delt flies with RB. Used this as a BURNOUT & let me tell you...rear delts were on fire 🔥

I’m using Saturday as my day to reflect on the week, my progress, challenges, and growth!
I have officially completed my workouts for the first week and am confident with my nutrition plan for the weekend.
So here are my thoughts after week one. - you need to get uncomfortable to change - working different muscles and in a variety of ways feels amazing and produces results
- it is amazing at how much progress you can have in 1 week
- eating more food in the proper portions and combinations effectively fuels your body and keeps your metabolism going. - having 30 other people checking in on you, cheering you on, and locking arms for 80 days is more than just support! -I am excited to see what the next 74 days bring because the first 6 have already been more than I imagined.
I have challengers that have already lost more than 5 pounds. I have others who fit in clothes better than they ever have in years, others needing new clothes, real and amazing results in week 1!
We were inspired by transformations from the test group. We were excited to do something new and different. Now we are making our own transformations. Probably just as much mentally as physically.
It gets better!!!!!! You can start your own journey and give it a try for yourself too! My February obsessed with our best group is filling up and getting ready to start! Why not you? Why not give it a try for yourself? Why not feel your best and be your best!
