I am almost 10 months postpartum after baby number 2.

I can honestly say I never thought that after having 2 kids I would be in the best shape I have ever been in.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Physically, yes... But more importantly mentally and emotionally.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Don't get me wrong I still struggle, but the difference is that I know now that it's OK to struggle and I am going to learn from every single moment of it.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
That struggle is going to make me better. I'm not going to be afraid to fall because when I stand up again I will be stronger.

Some gym selfie days are better than others, especially when your hair is actually...well, combed 🤷🏽‍♀️hollerrrrr to all the messy mom buns out there💁🏽!! Not to my liking but much to my body's necessity I took an extra recovery day over the weekend and could 💯% feel the difference in strength and endurance. RESISTANCE BAND PLANK KNEE TO ELBOW *** Starting in a plank with a resistance band around the bottom of your feet, lift your right leg up and out creating tension on the band. Now bend your knee and bring it towards your right elbow, engaging your oblique and return to starting position. Do 8 reps on both sides and 2-3 sets. #fit_n_flow

Over the last 6 months my body has changed and evolved just as much as my fitness perspective. -I did the gym life (cardio warm up, weights, leave)
-I did the bad runner (open the door, run, walk back in the door)
-I did the I’ll workout when I have time...hahahah! We never have time, we have to make it!

Working out at home and following programs that were created by celebrity trainers has taught me how to take care of my body, it’s given me a community of like minded women to push me and for me to push, it’s given me motivation and encouragement, it’s given me a toned body that I’m proud of! It’s also made me a stronger, healthier, faster runner!

Day one of our cleanse was ALOT harder than I thought it would be. On the struggle bus 🚌 over here 🙄 I’m pretty sure it stems from the absence of caffeine and sugar — major headache all day! 🙃 Hoping a solid night of sleep 😴 and a new day will make me feel much better tomorrow!

How do you stay motivated?!?! 👆👆 that is a question I hear often.  And some days I don’t know how to respond because honestly I don’t have an over abundance of motivation. 
In fact there are days I’d rather sleep in.  I’d like to sit down and relax....we’ll that doesn’t happen often I’m too much of a busy body, but there are days I just don’t want to.

But over time I’ve created DISCIPLINE. 
Sure I was motivated to feel better at first and some days I’m motivated to hit another goal, but motivation alone is not enough.

We must practice making small changes everyday that will compound to help us work for our goals and create DISCIPLINE so we keep showing up even on the days we maybe don’t feel like it 🙌

I don’t want y’all going and looking for discipline either!  Ok 👌?! Discipline is like a muscle, it is something we have to use and flex often for it to grow and develop!

Use that desire for change to motivate your changes, but start focusing on creating your discipline to keep showing up FOR YOUR LIFE 😘

We are in an age where we can turn on our phone, open FB and see a million people succeeding in a world where we are often struggling. ⠀

We are constantly bombarded by the beautiful front page of everyone else’s life and then we compare that page to our behind the scenes life and we are left feeling even more terrible and inadequate than before... ⠀
⠀
So let’s try instead to to hold nothing back, the good the bad, the in between... it’s all of this combined that makes up who we are. ⠀
⠀
And more often than not the behind the scenes is the real deal, the very best of life’s lessons, and although it is the least shiny it’s still the part that is the most valuable.⠀

I finally started watching Empire and I love it. I’m doing a painting piece because I figured it was time to try something new. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
One thing I’ve been working on is finding different ways to unwind. I realized I can’t work all the time. I have to allow my mind to relax. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

But when a woman feels good about herself, she’s more likely to treat others with goodness. 
With all the pressure we face as moms, wives, daughters, being a woman overall it may seem challenging to feel good about yourself. I’m talking truly feel good about yourself.
Taking care of yourself, your body, is so important. You don’t  own your body, it’s just a vessel for your spirit to walk this earth and it does have an expiration date !
Be rational and make good use of your body while you still have it! Treat it with respect. Cherish it. 
As women the societal pressure put on us to live and look a certain way has us putting our bodies through hell. From the food we eat (or don’t!), to the medications, surgeries, lack of physical fitness, too much or over strenuous fitness, to just not caring and letting go. I’m sure we’ve all done a few of those over time to look & feel better. Magic pills? Guilty 🤦🏽‍♀️ taking a pill will not make you skinner alone. Taking care of yourself is key. Eat good food. Exercise. Embrace the skin your in. Do a facial. Get a hair cut. Detox your body. Detox your skin. Stop drinking. Stop smoking. Take a walk. Play outside with your kids. Watch less TV. Read more books. Wear less makeup. Eat more FOOD. Meditate. Pray. 
These are all good practices to taking care of your body. Learning to appreciate yourself so you actually want to take care of your body. And setting a good example for those around you. 
When you feel good you do good !!

Putting the finishing touches on my post pregnancy Ab Rehab program this week and I'm wondering what else you'd like to see included in a post pregnancy fitness program? What are you looking to learn or accomplish with your core/body post pregnancy? .

Obviously we want to tone, tighten, strengthen your abs/core and (for some of us) heal diastasis recti but what else? .
One thing I am making a point to include is quite a bit of glute activation & strengthening as well. This is something that women often need after baby and truly is part of your core so it should be a focal point of a post natal training program. .

This program will be putting some glute knowledge and super effective activation exercises I've learn from the king 👑 @bretcontreras1 🙌🏼 to work plus learning how to properly re-engage and use your core unit to strengthen, engage and shrink your inner corset (TVA) without making any present ab separation worse. .

We finally have temperatures in the 60s! And all the #runners said Amen 🙌🏻 I knew as soon as I felt the cool air this morning that we had to take our new #bobstroller out for its inaugural run on the @arkansasrivertrail. I sure will miss these trials if we end up moving next year. We got in 4 slow miles that didn't always feel easy since I haven't pushed a stroller in a while and haven't been able to follow a consistent running schedule with my knee injury and our interview travels. But easy or not, I loved it. Running is my happy place. ps: when coach @rochellefitnessdance tells you to "give everything you've got," you absolutely listen! .

My biggest takeaway so far is less Inflammation which in turn makes my pants fit looser. 😀

Okay, so it is windy AF and there was like a leaf blower from a neighbor going off the whole time like the apocalypse or something. And why would you blow leaves when it is so damn windy...but anyway! Here is your Monday Move!! Drum roll...Front Rack Box Squat. I love this #exercise because it SO mimics mom life. 
Scroll to see the second half of the video. My unnecessary commentary prevented this one from staying under a minute, so you'll need to exercise your scrolling finger and your patience. Here are some tips to keep in mind. 
1️⃣Set your position first. You want to measure the distance between the chair and your starting position so you don't eat it. Trust me. This is important. 😂
2️⃣Use a bench, stool or chair that allows your hips to be parallel or slightly below your knees. 
3️⃣practice without a weight at first if you need to. You want to feel comfortable. 
4️⃣Hold the weight either at your chest or for more of a challenge on the core and shoulders, hold the weight away from body. 
5️⃣Hips start the party. 🎉 Reach hips back toward chair. 
6️⃣breathing--different techniques will work for different people. I like to inhale and brace, go to seated position, and then reset my breath, doing a full exhale when standing. This is what allows me to feel most supported and braced throughout the movement. 
7️⃣Drive through your glutes to stand. -------------------------------

I’ve found that whenever I feel my anxiety spiking, I just need to get outside and get some fresh air. Connecting with a loving animal is also great therapy and relaxation 💖

Yesterday it was hot, dry and windy. Today Hurricane Ophelia came and it is damp, foggy, and more like fall. I had nothing left in my fridge, so I made a "green" smoothie. It was frozen strawberries 🍓, broccoli, spirulina, and dark chocolate chips. That's called being creative. It has been a high carb day full of vegetables and ginger cookies I made last night. Definitely almost that time of the month. Being a women sucks. You want to eat your whole house. Know the feeling?

Sorry, I am a little late getting this posted. Yesterday's workout was an evening ride with my Mom. I had a fun riding around the new place. Sugarfoot did have her moment of acting up, be we nipped that in the butt pretty quickly. After that she rode like a charm.
