Why I fell in love with fitness. Growing up I never had a great self esteem. I was never confident that I was worth anything and that I was important. I was never one of the cute, skinny, beautiful girls that everyone wanted to date. I felt like i had to show off in sports to get any attention. How many of you have ever felt that way? I've learned hard work. I've learned consistency. I've learned how to be patient through 5 pregnancies and trust the process that I can get back to where I want to be. I found out how I respond to struggle and hardships. I learned from inconvenience and failure.

Las pesas me daban alergia😖
Yo estaba convencida de que me iba a poner grande y de que se me iban a ensanchar las piernas😰✋. Yo las quería finas y para aquel entonces creía que tenía facilidad para muscular 🤷🏻‍♀️ (“si yo enseguida que hago un poco, se me nota. El brazo sobretodo 😌☝️”)

Tenía una constante obsesión con las calorías y llevaba una restricción máxima de carbohidratos y de grasas.
Eran el mismísimo demonio😈 capaces de hacerme engordar con tan sólo olerlos✋
Lo light, lo lowcarb y lo de color rosa abundaba mi despensa💁🏻‍♀️

Llegó un punto en el que por mucho que mi peso en la báscula bajase yo no lograba verme como quería. Estaba blanda, sin curvas, con mucha flacidez, celulitis...
¡Con todo lo que me esforzaba😭! ¿Qué hacía mal😔?

Cambié mi visión y me di cuenta que el planteamiento no era el correcto y empecé con este estilo de vida💪🏼

Dejé a un lado el cardio y las clases dirigidas para enfocarme en los entrenos de pesas.
Empecé a nutrir mi cuerpo como es debido y utilizar la comida como fuente de energía para que mi rendimiento entrenando fuese el óptimo 🏋🏻‍♀️

Luego descubrí que no sólo me estaba sintiendo mejor por fuera, me sentía mejor por dentro; más fuerte, más enérgica y más feliz⚡️
.
Además, por si fuera poco, descubrí que me encantaba hacerlo y me enamoré por completo del proceso💗

This is the most fit and body positive i have been in last few years.
This form only lasted a couple of days and i was okay with that, knowing our bodies change constantly..
For the first time i took a moment to cherish the results of months of hard work.
I accepted the fact that i will slack every now and then, and will have to work even harder to improve.. For the first time, I felt confident that i have gained a sense of control over my weaknesses (emotional eating);
The struggle on this journey made me much stronger emotionally, as i was afraid i would fall prey to same old habits and never overcome them;
So I allowed myself to feel the pride that comes with reaching a new milestone..
Transformation no longer meant just a change in appearance-
I transitioned from being self-critical to being self-accepting,
I began to realise self validation and self approval matter so much more than anybody else's...
.

This picture serves me as a reminder of the capability to overcome weaknesses. 
We are stronger than we think we are and capable of surprising ourselves every once in a while ;) So what- if you show it or don't show it to the rest of the world; pat your own back for all ur baby steps and milestones; nobody knows your struggle as much as you do!! ☺

LAS GRASAS
Yo también tuve miedo a las grasas. A los hidratos no tanto, pero comer grasas me provocaba escalofríos. Cuando te obsesionas tantísimo con lo que comes y cuentas la mínima caloría que ingieres, es lógico pensar que las grasas deben irse! 9kcal cada gramo! Estamos locos o qué?
Tampoco me gustaba el aguacate! Nada de nada 🤢 Hasta que mi nutricionista me propuso aplastarlo con limón, tipo guacamole 😋 Y poco a poco empezó esta hermosa historia de amor que continua más fuerte que nunca 😶
Hay que entender que no todas las grasas son iguales, y mas importante aún... es un macronutriente FUNDAMENTAL! También las grasas saturadas son necesarias si provienen de los alimentos adecuados. Tu cerebro, tu sistema inmune y tus huesos necesitan grasa saturada. 
Comer grasa no te hará coger grasa salvo que sea en exceso (y eso pasará comas lo que comas, que parece que atiborrarse a proteínas es inocuo para el cuerpo 🤷🏻)
Lo bonito de esto es aprender, de los errores de uno mismo principalmente, y creo que respecto a demonizar a la grasa estoy recuperada. 
Deseando reintroducir huevo que estoy 🙈
Mientras tanto seguiré nadando en aceite de oliva y coco, aguacates, bacon... 🐷🐷

DISABILITY 🙈 I posted last night so wanted to explain after being asked to. I have bilateral hearing loss as well as ANSD! Auditory neuropathy spectrum disorder effects sound travelling between the inner ear and the brain. Sound is not translated properly to my brain. Due to it being a spectrum disorder, just like autism it means symptoms can vary from mild to severe! Unfortunately. I struggle and i have pretty severe ANSD but not the worst!! I am the only known person in Britain to develop my condition in my teenage years! We don’t know why I suddenly lost a lot of hearing at 13 years old. Since then it’s got worse and according to audiologists...I could go deaf at any point. My hearing will never improve but it can get worse. My hearing aids don’t help my condition...just my normal loss of hearing. I can still hear, but I often can’t make out what’s being said. It’s like you listening to a conversation through a wall. Sound is heard but the conversation is muffled. I lip read and I don’t even realise most the time! 🤷🏼‍♀️🙈it’s just something I’ve taught myself to do! 😊 ANSD sufferers also have good and bad days. No one knows why. Sometimes it’s down to tiredness or the environment but often random good or bad days happen. One day I may hear and understand everything, the next I may not! 🤷🏼‍♀️it’s beyond my control so please don’t think I’m ever being rude or ignoring you!! I can’t have phone call conversations but I can text instead. I can’t watch TV without subtitles and I can’t listen to music without knowing the lyrics! But I don’t let it bother me anymore. I may only be able to hear 26% of speech (and that’s with my hearing aids, without hearing aids is around 18%) but I’m still human. I’m still me and I’m still able. I never class myself as disabled, even though I do have a disability! @chessiekingg inspired me to write this post. Knowing someone else who is a massive fitness blogger can open up about that showed me that I can too and I’m not ashamed of it! This is only the short story! It still effects me yes, but I try not to let it!! I’m not being rude or anything. I just have an impairment! #ANSD

Got it in this morning💪🏽 Today was an intense workout, went up in weight🙌🏽 & did a lot more cardio. I’m making progress each workout & I can tell by the gainz😍 I have 8 more workouts before this queens bday......& no I’m not just doing all of this my for my bday lol. This is my lifestyle & something I will continue to do. Not only do I want to look good but I want to feel even better on the Inside, which is the most important thing & that comes from eating clean.

Summary: If you enjoy challenging yourself and progressing in fitness this book is pretty much a must have. If you've seen @mobilityWODs channel you know how much he is dedicated to improving mobility and combating the negative factors of being sedentary. The book covers so much, even if you don't train on a regular basis there is plenty of tips regarding maintaining good posture, day to day lifting and being active enough for your kids. The updated edition has some enhancements that make it easier to find the section you want from the theory to the exercises (and variations). Here's a few of Dr. Kelly's tips on mobility (PS- don't forget to check out his interviews on YouTube as well).

1. Test and Retest
"Everything you do should have observable, measurable, and repeatable results. Testing and retesting lets you know whether what you are doing is actually working."

"Ungluing stiff, restricted tissue is uncomfortable, but it shouldn't feel like you're causing more damage than is already there."

3. No Days Off
"Remember, your body is an adaptation machine. If you spend a few minutes a day working on improving your position, you will improve your position."

4. Make Mobility Realistic
" The key is to prioritize mobilization techniques that approximate real-life situations. The more you can replicate what you're trying to change, the more you will improve your position.

5. Always Mobilize in a Good Position
"Keep the movement principles in mind as you mobilize. If your ankles collapse, your knees cave inward, your back rounds, or you overextend at your lumbar spine, reset and fix your position."
