By Wednesday, my body started telling me it needed rest 👋🏼 By Friday, it was ⚡️screaming⚡️
Hi body, it’s me, Alex, and I 👏🏼 am 👏🏼 listening 👏🏼 I hear you, and I’m taking the entire weekend off from working out 🙏🏼
In hindsight, the level of failure I reached yesterday was too much for my muscles + nervous system to handle 💥 I wound up with a very irritated nerve [I have limited sensation in my left thumb and inner forearm] + an angry shoulder 👿
I’ll be honest, I’m a little mad at myself for ignoring the signs of fatigue 🤦🏼♀️ + I *know* that temporary rest is better than getting knocked out of the game long-term [a huge fear of mine] 🙇🏼♀️ BUT I am doing what I can now to recover + prevent future injury 💯 I should mention I’m also kind of proud of my mind for wanting to push myself as hard as it could in my new #fitnessroutine , but I know my body is the smart one of this dynamic duo 🔑
So, onto 48 hours of #rest + #recovery + #selfcare + clean hair [what?!] + kale salads + froyo 😜

But, Love yourself into healthy. When you start to create healthy eating habits, find a way to enjoy daily workouts and surround yourself with positive, supportive people - it’s no longer torture; it’s enjoyable and the long term results are simply incredible.

When I saw the name of today’s workout, I about crapped myself.
So I procrastinated.
Then finally, I laced up.
I flipping LOVED IT! —this is rare. I don’t necessarily love the actual exercising parts. Ever.
I love the benefits.
Chalk this one up to the fastest 30 minutes of my fit journey.
I actually thought there was a bug in the video. I rewound and checked. Nope. 30 minutes.
It set the tone for my day, which was especially GREAT!
Just do it. Do the hard things. Try the things that you think are gonna suck.
They probably won’t. And even if they do, you’ll be better for it.

This was me before...I had all the excuses in the world for not being consistent with whatever I was doing to try and get healthier. I didn't have the time, I'll get to it later, I already ate bad so might as well continue(that is still something I find myself saying at times and I am working on that). I am getting better. One thing I can tell you is that the excuse of not having time went out the window. You will always have the time, you just have to make it happen. Time is something that is not always on our side. That's one big reason I decided to take my health more seriously. We're not getting any younger unfortunately so I decided to at least give time a good fight. My family deserves me to be my healthiest. So do yours:). Now is the best TIME to start on your fitness journey....and I'm here to help. Incredibly annoying for a bed partner, for sure…I’d go to bed with good intentions…’I’m going to set this sucker for 6 and get the eff up!’ 🙄
Then morning would hit. The alarm would go off and I’d quickly hit the button…
With every intention of getting up, I didn’t.
Sometimes I’d go back to sleep and hit that jerk again in 12 minutes..over and over…Most times I’d lie there half asleep dreading the day..still hitting the button.
For a good hour. .
This meeting, that responsibility. Don’t wanna. Still tired. Feeling sicky. Blahhhh…

Then one day, because I was sick of the way I felt in my skin, magic happened. The Universe was looking out for me.😉
Now I’m up and DONE with my workout before the sun rises. Leaving me time to prepare for the day instead of dread it. #CantEvenBelieveItMyself
Almost 3 years later, I’m still a bit allergic to mornings…but just for that first couple of snoozes… Because beds are comfy, the pups and the Old Man are great snugglers, and I’m ok with Rome not being built in a day.

Missed my P90X3 the past few days. Today was one of my faves definitely so far. I love leg day!! Pudding + Pumpkin = Autumn Love!!
This little treat is the perfect afternoon pick-me-up and the recipe makes 4 servings! Enough to last you through 4 days worth of those sweet tooth snack emergencies!
2 cups milk of choice (I use unsweetened coconut)
1/2 cup chia seeds
1 cup pumpkin puree (NOT pie filling!)
1 TB pumpkin pie spice
2 tsp vanilla extract
3 TB pure maple syrup
In a large bowl, mix ingredients together. Pour into 4 small mason jars or bowls. Cover and refrigerate for at least 3 hours or overnight!
Top with almonds, pecans, pumpkin seeds, coconut, cinnamon, whatever you love!
