Contact sports such as Rugby Union and American Football often make it extremely difficult to assess a players’ fitness levels with a traditional test battery. 
Many athlete’s bodies have taken a beating over the course of a season and playing career. Many competitive and veteran athletes are struggling to function pain free on many of the simplest daily tasks, such as walking down a flight of stairs. 
In attempt to overcome such issues Veteran Athlete have adopted a rowing test that was originally devised by the British & Irish Lions rugby union team to assess a players’ fitness levels while also reducing the impact on the body. 
This rowing test will allow an individual with any lower extremity injuries (ankle, achillies,  knee & hip) to fully express their true fitness levels. 
However, don’t think that this test is an easy option. 
It is brutal because it works both the lower and upper body simultaneously imposing a phenomenal stress to the cardio-vascular system, when you attempt to achieve the set target time of 7minutes. 
We suggest that you pencil a time in your diary, get a good night’s sleep, have a very strong coffee and attack the following; 
1.	Set meters to 1500m and rest to 5minutes
2.  Row 1500m as fast as possible – record time
3.	Rest for 5 minutes
4.	Set meters to 500m and rest to 3minutes
5.	Row 500m as fast as possible – record time
6.	Rest for 3 minutes
7.	Set meters to 250m
8.	Row 250m as fast as possible – record time.

Your score is your total combined for 1500m + 500m + 250m in minutes and seconds.  Your target is <7mins

Gita decided a few weeks ago she really wanted to get her 1km run down to sub 6min, so we decided she’d turn up early for training and jump on the run machine for 6min a few times a week, and on Fridays before boxing do a time trial on the clock.... and today she cracked it! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Mandatory fitness test this morning so that's max effort on the multi stage fitness test (bleep test) followed by max push ups and sit ups in a minute, all to be completed to a pre determine score to count as a pass. Finished that off with some strict muscle up practice. It's been a  while but they're coming back strong! 💪

This afternoon i was working around turbo glute DOMS after yesterday's lunges so picked out a few movements and chucked them together into an amrap. And it was much tougher than I thought 😥
