Una dama de 27 años, estudiante universitario, quien en 8 semanas de entrenamiento pasa de realizar 10 repeticiones de flexión y extensión de codo en la posición anatómica básica para mujeres (rodillas flexionadas y apoyadas al suelo para favorecer el movimiento, a realizar 10 repeticiones del mismo ejercicio con la variante de la posición anatómica ya referida (posición horizontal, sin el apoyo de rodillas, dificultando el movimiento)

Todo esto y más, es posible cuando te sometes a un plan de entrenamiento (físico y mental). Gluteus Maximus 🏃‍♂️ Before every run I'll always do 20-30 minutes of warm up exercises which will usually include some #gluteactivation. Coming from a non-weight bearing sport (#swimming) my body has always struggled with the heavy impact of #running so I've spent the last couple of years re-training my #muscles how to #move properly.

The purpose of this #exercise is to control #hip and #back #flexion. I use a 4lb weight to add a bit more resistance. I think any exercise where you isolate one leg is a lot more beneficial for a runner than the same exercise on two legs - especially when you have (or had!) a big discrepancy like me! 😂

Preparing the posterior myofascial chain via the plantar fascia for some delicious forward folds in my primary series. Looks counterintuitive to prep like this for spinal flexion but it's rather delicious and my body has missed it. A broken heart resides in an iron safe but here I feel like the safe is being cracked, in a good way. Not in a sternum popping way. 
Getting more out of your asana doesn't mean mindlessly repeating the same asanas and expecting different answers. Yoga is an awakening, a connection. An awakening means open eyes. Open eyes means a switched on mind. A switched on mind thinks outside of dogmatic boxes. Liberating oneself from dogma leads to true expression and finding that enlightenment that has always resided within. It a always been within you, you just buried it deep under dusty books, ancient ideals and social pressures. Your enlightenment can be found through play and adventure with a dose of discipline and honesty.

WHY YOUR BACK ROUNDS IN YOUR SQUAT

Back rounding in the squat, aka posterior pelvic tilt or "butt wink", often happens in the bottom of the movement. There are a lot of questions on this topic. So let's address them.

IS IT BAD?
🔸️It depends on a lot of factors. If we are in a bodyweight squat, it's often no big deal and just a part of the natural movement. If we are under load, it's ideal to minimize it, but some will not be able to avoid it completely, and that's ok, especially given difference in hip anatomy and sport specific differences like picking up stones in strongman.

HOW MUCH IS TOO MUCH?
🔸️You kind of know it when you see it, but a good baseline is to look to see if the spine still APPEARS straight in the bottom. The reason for this is because many people posteriorly tilt, but not severely and we also now know that spinal flexion may in fact be unavoidable in the squat, with near 40° of flexion occurring. So it's better to go off of a visual marker of a decently straight spine rather than saying all flexion is bad.

WHY DOES IT HAPPEN?
🔸️This is the most straightforward answer but there are multiple causes. The biggest one is simply hip anatomy. Deeper hip sockets don't allow for the same ROM as shallower sockets and will be prone to tilting sooner. So those people will never go ass to grass on a squat with a perfectly straight spine. That the unavoidable factor. The ones we can control are ankle mobility, adductor magnus tightness, and technique. Often improving on those 3 will make big improvements for you. So that should be your plan of attack if you are looking to reduce your own butt wink.

It's not always bad. It's not something we need to demonize. But we should be aware of it and how to reduce it if we want to. Applied knowledge is power. 😘

Taco chicken, veggie and beans

Ingredients:

3-4 chicken breasts cut into cubes 
2 cloves chopped garlic

1/2 white onion 
2 handfuls green beans 
1 can red kidney beans 
2 sliced red/yellow peppers 
1 tbsp olive oil 
Half pack of 1/2 sodium taco seasoning 
Pinch of sea salt and pepper to taste 
Franks red hot sauce 
Directions:

1. Heat olive oil, garlic, onion 
2. Throw in chicken cubes with lid 
3. Once chicken is half cooked through, add in taco seasoning, salt, pepper and franks red hot sauce 
4. Add in chopped and sliced veggies and beans and cook until al dente 
Done and ready to eat!

Et ce n'est pas parce que c'est #vendredi13 👻😱 ⚠️ L'antéflexion du tronc et donc la #flexion de la colonne lombaire est préjudiciable pour les structures vertébrales au delà de 60° (cf. photo 2) : l'amortissement des charges axiales étant dévolu aux ligaments du système vertébral postérieur, à ces amplitudes, vos disques ou ceux de vos sportifs/patients risquent à force de vous détester. ⚠️ Dans la gestuelle technique, le respect de la lordose lombaire préservera le disque. Le verrouillage en position intermédiaire du bassin serait plus protecteur que le verrouillage en #rétroversion du bassin qui délordose la colonne vertébrale. ⚠️ Les contraintes répétées en #hyperlordose sont néfastes pour l'isthme intervertébral et susceptibles d'entraîner des fractures de fatigue par spondylolyse et spondylolisthésis. 
Le mouvement d'hypertension forcée dans tout travail de renforcement lombaire doit être contrôlé et pour tout athlète, il est important qu'il n'aille pas jusqu'aux limites extrêmes du mouvement, par exemple lors d'un soulevé de terre avec charges lourdes et sur le banc à lombaires en musculation. ⚠️ Les mouvements combinés de #rotation et d'#inclinaison lombaire sont encore plus contraignants pour les disques que celui de flexion, les contraintes en #cisaillement sur les disques qu'ils génèrent étant des plus nuisibles; les limiter pour mieux les contrôler semble une évidence (cf. mon article sur les flexions latérales). ⚠️ Toute tentative de #correction d'une posture #hypercambrée chez les athlètes est un non-sens, parce que protectrice des disques intervertébraux. La raideur naturelle des muscles postérieurs de la cuisse accompagnant la plupart du temps cette hyperlordose lombaire constitutionnelle. En cas de lésion aux IJ en particulier, il est alors préférable de les renforcer en #excentrique (précédé d'un travail progressif préparatoire) afin de contrer leur action délordosante qui pourrait s'ensuivre.

#Kneeraise o elevación de rodillas, un término algo extraño para este ejercicio, como flexión de pecho para los #pushup , es controversial, ya que las personas al realizarlo hacen simplemente eso "elevar rodillas" al Flexionar la cadera (imagen izquierda).

La ejecución correcta no es simplemente una flexión de cadera, fijense que el abdomen sigue sin contraerse (izquierda) si tenemos sentido común, al realizar #crunch encogemos o contraemos el #abdomen.

¿Entonces no debería ser igual aquí?

Claro que sí, solo que la #resistencia la generamos desde los miembros inferiores, pero de igual forma debe haber una #flexion del tronco (columna vertebal) sino simplemente estas flexionando y extendiendo tus #caderas.

Recuerda que esa resistencia debe generarla tu abdomen para subir tus piernas, no al reves, y ¡OJO! mientras más larga sea la #palanca, mas dificultad agregaras, pero esto debe ser como todo lo demás ¡PROGRESIVO!

Si haces el ejercicio así (izquierda), cambia la técnica, quizás hagas menos repeticiones, pero tendrás calidad en vez de cantidad, el abdomen al igual que otros #músculos responde a estímulos e intensidad, no a repeticiones como tal.

PD: Nunca falta un pantallero(a) que empieza a hacerlo pateando para los lados para que lo neófitos lo vean y piensen que es un crack 😂👎

One of the functions of the core is Anti-lateral flexion. Practice not moving with a weight in one hand and realise how hard it is. Enough of the side bends (IN MY OPINION). People through their training encourage lateral flexion (side bends), but imagine one day you saw someone walking lopsided like that........ jussssss sayin!
