I've been travelling this weekend and am so excited to share with you all my strategies for eating well with IBS and digestive health!

Here in Austin I went to whole foods and got some fresh ingredients for my favourite protein snacks!

When travelling - rent an AirBnB or hotel with kitchen so you can get some fresh food!

I usually make these with cinnamon and vanilla at home, but today's recipe is just three ingredients.

Low FODMAP Good for your Gut Peanut Butter Protein Balls
.
INGREDIENTS:
1 banana
1 small jar of peanut butter
2 scoops protein powder like @sunwarriortribe
.
INSTRUCTIONS
Mix together. Shape balls. Put in baking sheet and freeze in feeezer. Then put in plastic bag. Stays good up to one month.

Gistermiddag maakte ik deze havermout ontbijt taart met noten, kokos, cranberries en koek- en speculaaskruiden. 
Net heerlijk genoten van een stuk van deze taart. Ik vind hem erg goed gelukt. De taart is lekker, gezond en voedzaam. En het fijne is, er zijn nog een paar stukken over 😄

Fall's pretty much here 🍁Swap out traditional mashed potatoes for Low FODMAP Mashed Turnips with Bacon & Chives.⠀

Ingredients:⠀
4 cups diced turnips⠀
8 slices bacon⠀
2 Tbsp. butter (or ghee)⠀
2 Tbsp. garlic-infused olive oil⠀
4 Tbsp. chives, chopped⠀
Salt, to taste⠀
.⠀
Directions:⠀
Place diced turnips in a large pot and completely cover with water. Bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, for 30 minutes or until turnips are fork-tender.⠀
While turnips are cooking, heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add bacon and cook until crispy. Place bacon on paper towels to cool and soak up excess bacon grease. Once cool, crumble and set aside.⠀
Drain cooked turnips. Return to pot and add butter and olive oil. Mash until desired consistency is achieved. Stir in bacon bits and chives. Season with salt and serve.⠀

I followed a Jamie Oliver recipe and made some adaptions!
(See next photo but basically...
1. roast the nuts and thyme for 5 mins in dry pan
2. chuck in a food processor with jar of well drained peppers, a glug of garlic oil and some grated Parmesan! (Think I used 40g) then blitz! Easy. Oh and I got the 'cheese' from waitrose. Wasn't sure what it would be like but it's great and will purchase again!)

Beach weekend! When you have those really tough days and weeks, things just feel heavy or anxiety and stress seem high, what do you do?

Do you keep pushing through until you burn out or the stress builds and builds? Or can you take some time out?

I tend to overwork myself, life of an entrepreneur I guess, but we all have our crutch. These days I find myself making more time for reflection and space. Giving myself permission to slow down and have this time to do nothing or hang with my family or enjoy quiet time really changes my perspective and keeps me well.

It takes more that cutting foods out and diet plans to get your IBS under control and stay well so you can take your life back. And this includes time out!

What do you need when it's time for space? A bath? The beach? Share with me below!

Oké het is dan nog wel geen winter, maar stoofvlees (of suddervlees of draadjesvlees 😉), smaakt ook nu heerlijk, en kan toch gewoon altijd?! En ondanks dat het een tijd op moet staan, is het verder niet veel werk. En het is zo lekker! Heerlijk genoten, met daarbij frietjes uit de airfryer. Fijne zondagavond!

💕 I haven't had something delicious like that, i was allowed to eat, for a long time. I got this donut from foddies . If you suffer from any food intolerance its definitely worth going there. This  cutie is, most important for me, low in fructose and dairy free. They also have vegan options.

Deze pizza is zowel glutenvrij als lactosevrij. Op de pizza deed ik tomatensaus, cherry tomaatjes, parmaham, rucola, Italian flakes en een beetje balsamico azijn. 🍕 Heerlijk begin van het weekend!

A month ago and actually months prior to that I had extremely low energy, despite getting enough sleep now that my toddler sleeps through the night 🎉

I tried everything to start exercising like Zumba or yoga classes or swimming but I just couldn't find the much time more the energy to actually make the change.
. 
And damn girl! My carb cravings were bad. I wanted doughnuts (yum!) and fries and chicken fingers and pasta ALL.THE.TIME!
.
But something needed to change. Eating for IBS is one thing but low energy sucks your life away and those craving can really get one off track - I know I did not feel good!

So... now I eat my oats for breakfast, some filling big lunch with mostly veggie carbs, this smoothie to keep me full until dinner and then a pretty good dinner without all that starchy pasta rice and bread that I used to have. Carbs are important but I was going heavy on the sugary stuff!!!

Now this feels good. And my cravings for crap are less and less everyday. If you need a change - you got this dude! Shift. Do it! Start with the little things and commit. I'm here to help if you need me 😘

Back home it was very routine, always a fodmap friendly smoothie on the weekdays and one day on the weekend something fancier like scrambled eggs, bacon, a small glass of juice and nice bread. On my trip it's been oatmeal with either butter, jam or banana 99 % of the time. Here in Cusco I can't seem to find proper oats. So this has been my breakfast, don't get me wrong, I love it, just not very healthy 😃 Rice puffs with chocolate, lactose free milk, bread with pate (so happy to have found a pate without garlic and onion 😃) and coca leaf tea. #ibs #fodmap #fodmapsafe #fodmapdiet #fodmapfood #travelwithibs
