Rest day macros. 🥑 Who implements different macros on your rest days?
I have tried it both ways, and My body does seem to prefer to have lower amounts of carbs and higher fats on my rest days. What about you?!

I ABS-olutely encourage everyone to understand what their body needs to be fuelled for success. If you are under eating your body can’t afford to build or even maintain muscles. While so many people chase abs for aesthetics (or just because they can seem like unicorns of your body) their functionality to protect your back is paramount! Strong core = safe back! A new study caught my attention about inflammatory diets and cancer. It basically linked diets high in processed and red meats, sodas, and refined grains to colorectal cancer in men and women.
121 thousand men and women were observed for 26 years. Findings were studied and published in JAMA Oncology Journal. The results show colorectal cancer risk increased by 44% in men and 22% in women who eat diets high processed foods. The foods included deli meats, hot dogs🌭, and bacon🥓, red meat, array of high sugary drinks like sodas, and refined grains like products from white flour🍩 or white rice. Also, people in the risk group ate low amount of vegetables.
This is what we call an inflammatory diet that causes chronic inflammation in the body. When we’re in state of chronic inflammation, our body has trouble fighting off viruses and diseases. Added chronic stress makes it even harder to function properly, so all kind of “bad things” start to happen.
On the other hand, study showed that diets high in vegetables🥕, tea, coffee🍵, whole grains, and lean meats were anti-inflammatory and beneficial for our health, especially cardiovascular system.
Guys, balance and moderation is the key to be healthy. Occasional slice of bacon won’t harm you, but eating in on a regular basis will.

2015 —> I was following TIU which meant a lot of running at the time (they had a lot of cardio on their schedule) and little to no weight training. Most likely super low calories. Low carb. Probably rarely ate treats or felt badly if I did.
2018 —> I am currently training with @trainerpaige plus teaching bootcamp 3x a week plus occasionally doing my own heavy lifts. I eat like a horse. The heavier the weight the better. I rarely run or do cardio except HIIT in classes. I’m actively trying to gain muscle. I track macros. There are no bad foods in my life.
I’m not saying that one is better than the other. What I’m saying is that along with life changing, so did my fitness needs. I’m currently looking at some heavy bodybuilding workouts. I may give up on macros and follow intuitive eating for a while. Maybe I’ll try crossfit. I might train to teach spin classes.
My point? Do not restrict yourself to one box. Don’t be afraid to try something new. Let your life flow and change and see what happens? Don’t let yourself be about what you weigh or how many times a day you workout or how much chocolate you ate or anything that makes you feel badly about yourself. Nourish your body. Sleep. Get sweaty in whatever way fuels you. Take moments to revel in what your body can do. Be the best badass you can be.
Today I took an unplanned rest day. I have gone through a lot of different pancake recipes and store bought mixes, so far my favorite is @kodiakcakes 🥞🥞They’re protein packed pancake mix is the best. All you need is to add water. Super easyy! I actually add almond milk instead. That’s a little hack to make them even better, but it makes for an easy breakfast and delicious one too ☺️☺️
Chicken Arrabiata with Pea Pasta 🍝🍴
Followed @jamieoliver recipe for Chicken Arrabiata and teamed it with pea pasta from @lidlireland! I barely noticed a difference between this and normal pasta when it was covered in sauce but my co-workers, with whom I was raving about the pasta to, said there was a mild taste of peas but as they liked peas they didn't mind it at all!
@lidlireland 's range of pastas is an absolute gamechanger for me. I have tried their chickpea and pea pastas so far (see photos attached) and will try the soybean fettucine next week! .
Oh, and the overall dish was delish 👌🤣
