Last week my friend and I tried the new sushi place in PIK, @kintarosushijkt ! I'm definitely hype about it since, they serves
gyu-kushikatsu in town and been dying to go back to Motomura ever since I tried, so does it live up the hype?
Gyu-KushiKatsu - IDR 180k
Tbh I had a high expectation on this dish esp after tasting Motomura in Tokyo, ever since then, I'm craving about it!
Unfortunately, it didn't live to it's hype (at least for me). Firstly, the beef - it kinda pale (just a little pink) when it
was served to us (this makes it looks not so fresh) compared to other people post it (not sure if it heavily edited or just me
getting the bad meat that day). Secondly, it taste kinda bland IMO though it said dry aged beef I doubt so, the sauce come the rescue fortunately
not leaving an impression towards me.
Kintaro Gyudon - IDR 95k
This is another dish that I anticipated, looks convincing when I saw on other people instagram (no kidding) so I was expected a generous size of gyudon
to fill up my stomach, unfortunately, it was so damn small (IMO it's better to be under "appetizer" rather than main dish) sure the meat slices was pretty generous
but it tasted kinda bland again, missing that "wow" factor thanks to it's truffle oil drizzle it kinda lifted up the dish a little, if not, it's completely bland IMO.
Original Nigiri Moriawase - IDR 70K
The famous sushi bridge! the most instragrammble dish on the restaurant! Sure the plating is very eye catching so how about the quality of the ingredients, IMO the ingredients
were OK, not too fresh but not too bad either, kinda missing that "freshness" IMO and the portion of the nigiri, it was smaller than the average nigiri.
IMO @kintarosushijkt is one instragammable place (their plating actually pretty good!) but definitely need to impr
Finally got to cross this place off my Philly to-eat list! Had a delicious dinner and as much as it pains me to admit to being such a basic bitch, my favorite course was the foie gras (with caramelized peach, pumpkin bread, foie Gras creme caramel and a peach lambic infusion) followed by the grilled John Dory atop herb spaeztle, English peas, and watermelon consommé (super refreshing). Highly rec this spot for special occasions (or any occasions really!)
