This kid, muchin on dried seaweed ๐Ÿ˜Š I bought this for myself and he snatched it from me and attacked it like he'd never eaten before. I had to hide the bag from him! It's so easy assume kids won't eat something bc it's an "adult" food. I really try to introduce him to all the same foods that we eat. Don't get me wrong, he's still a toddler and doesn't always like what I make or even always eat healthy. Love this quote! I think of it from time to time and wanted to create a little imagery to go along with it! People forget that food was everyone's medicine of choice - doctors came after! I definitely believe in holistic natural remedies, because the body is a powerful healing device that self heals and once you use the power of organic healthy food, or nature in general, the body becomes even more vibrant and has a stronger defense against harmful viruses and disease. A lot has happened in the last four months and I've chosen to keep most of it offline to give myself the space to process. Investing in my mental health has been great, but I know that through everything I desperately wanted to find someone who had been through the same thing. I didn't really find that, and it left me feeling more confused. So now that I've started to regain my center, I want to open back up about what I've experienced and what I'm still learning. Hopefully, it will be reassuring and even helpful to someone out there. I have a lot to share, so I'm going to take it one day at a time. We'll get through it all eventually ๐Ÿ˜Š

One of the biggest struggles has been my heart rate. The more I run the slower it gets. So to avoid the slowly-turning-to-cement feeling that bradycardia gives me, I basically stopped running. That drove me crazy and in the end didn't eliminate my problems. Last month a new cardiologist told me to exacerbate my symptoms to make the tests more effective. That meant running A LOT. I didn't think I could do much after four months off so I did two weeks of shorter than four miles per run. Well today the weather was cool and ๐ŸŒฌso I said screw it, I'm going long, 6 miles here I come. Then I procrastinated for an hour and when I finally set out I was so nervous that I talked myself down to 5. And then God stepped in. For the first time ever my run tracker stopped telling me where I was in my miles, so I had to estimate. As I started the home stretch, I felt so good. I thought I must be short in miles but oh well I'll just enjoy it. But oh He had big plans to show Himself and when I checked at the end I had run 6.67 miles. Almost double what I've done in the last five months! And it felt great! I am stunned by what God does for us when we least expect it.

If you want to feel fuller, eat your fruit and veges rather than drinking them.  It will take you longer to eat them therefore the satiety signal, which takes about 20 minutes to kick in, will prevent you eating lots of other foods because you're still hungry after your drink. Eat slowly and you'll eat less in the time it takes to feel full.  Nutrients are found under the skin of fruits and vegetables. Don't peel them. If you eat the whole fruit or vegetable, you're getting the fibre as well. Think about how long it takes to chew through a whole carrot versus drinking the carrot juice. I know though, sometimes there's nothing nicer than a smoothie so it's up to you how you spend your Smart Points. So, probiotic, fermented foods help get your gut back on track! AND you only need TWO ingredients to make this stuff:
Coconut milk and probiotics! You can buy probiotic capsules (sold at health food stores) break them open into the milk, OR use 2 tbsp worth of an already made probiotic coconut yogurt to get it started. Once fermented, the probiotics are alive and can be transferred! So here's what you do:

This is what PURE JOY looks like ๐Ÿ™Œโญ๏ธ a few days ago, I was invited to a group ocean swim in Redondo and immediately said yes!! I was scared, but also super excited! I hadn't  swam in 5 years and had been wanting to throw myself back into it. I just didn't have the motivation to until that moment!

It felt terrifying, but very familiar at the same time; exhilarating but nerve-wracking; it was like I was meeting an old friend that I had fallen out of touch with yet when we were reunited it was so easy and comfortable ๐Ÿ’—

I didn't know what to expect since it had been SO long since I last swam laps. To be honest, I thought I was just going to do one lap around the buoys and call it a day! BUT...I swam 3 LAPS AROUND THE BUOYS!!! I was surrounded by triathletes which definitely helped motivate me and I totally surprised myself that I was able to keep up AND I surpassed my limit of 1 lap!

It is so important to get outside your comfort zone and to try things that scare you, because more often than not, you will COMPLETELY surprise yourself ๐Ÿ˜‰ and you will realize just how darn tootin' AMAZING AND STRONG you really are! Thank you @rebsoni for inviting me and I cannot wait to swim again this weekend!! ๐Ÿ’ชโ˜€๏ธ๐ŸŒŠ๐ŸŠโ€โ™€๏ธ(by the way, that smoothie tasted so good after a long swim! With all the movement and change going on lately, I absolutely love having these!! Because ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿผ "when you need some coddling, there's nothing more comforting than a baked sweet potato. Unlike greasy, fried, or sugar-filled and processed "comfort" foods that leave you feeling bloated, lethargic, and more depressed, a sweet potato has properties that actually give you the sensation that the world around you has shutdown. This is an important function that makes you feel safe and soothed, like you're getting a hug even if no one's there to give you one, so that you can draw up the strength to deal with hard times" and we have some extra stress going on at home, and I need my world to feel like it's shutdown so I can relax. Having this type of dinner does exactly that for me. I had the pleasure to eat this amazing dish while I was in Spain staying in a house full of family and friends. I did not make this delicious salad and the people who prepared it for me are clearly better cooks than me. I was so happy they made this for me and needless to say I ate the whole thing with a smile on my face. Let's all take a moment and thank those who make an effort to make us vegan dishes when they have no obligation to. I had such an amazing time where I stayed and ate a lot of delicious food as well. -
The recipe for this salad was simple I believe:
The base was a handful of lettuce and spinach mix (other leafy greens mixed in with spinach)
The raw veggies in the salad were: cucumber wheels, red bell pepper "slices", shredded carrot, and diced tomato. 
As for the "cooked" ingredients of the salad, the ingredients were: steamed broccoli, sautรฉd mushrooms, and beans. -
I cannot emphasize how good this was. In fact, it was so good that I'm trying to eat a giant salad like this everyday just to eat as much raw veggies as I can in one sitting. I challenge you to make something similar and see for yourself how good you feel after making and eating a giant salad bowl and eating all those raw veggies!

I had such an amazing time where I stayed and ate a lot of delicious food as well. - The recipe for this salad was simple I believe: The base was a handful of lettuce and spinach mix (other leafy greens mixed in with spinach) The raw veggies in the salad were: cucumber wheels, red bell pepper "slices", shredded carrot, and diced tomato. As for the "cooked" ingredients of the salad, the ingredients were: steamed broccoli, sautรฉd mushrooms, and beans. - I cannot emphasize how good this was. In fact, it was so good that I'm trying to eat a giant salad like this everyday just to eat as much raw veggies as I can in one sitting. I challenge you to make something similar and see for yourself how good you feel after making and eating a giant salad bowl and eating all those raw veggies! - Let me know in the comments if you do something like this or if you'll be trying to make a giant salad bowl sometime soon.

Saw a nutritionist this last week. I think it went really well and it looks like I might begin juicing. She has me starting with a couple local bought juices to find out if they further aggravate my gut related symptoms. If not, I can start regularly juicing myself. A little nervous about the watermelon juice since it has a lot of sugar...hoping it goes well. Probably should have done this a long time ago as it could really help me with my nutrient deficient diet.
