Along with summer, I'm gonna miss afternoon climbing with the hostel gang. Shared dinners, late night trips to McDonald's for Skor McFlurries, and all the lake days.
This new season brings along a lot of newness in my life but I'm looking forward to finding a new community of friends wherever I end up next.

Sometimes things don't go as planned, or what you had planned clearly isn't the way, and you just have to sit back and pray for answers, for strength, or patience...in the case of climbing it's usually strength, but the head game of imagining something from the ground to actual application never disappoints. Gotta love the problem solving skills, particularly when back cleaning after Ben. ♥️

#stayingwildandfree | This was only my 2nd time backpacking. I learned a lot. I especially learned that even when you watch weight, the ounces still pile on.
I am injured (IT band/hip tear), and gradually getting better with Physical Therapy. Yes, I was injured during this trip. It’s really hard for me to be patient and not join in a hike or activity. My injuries are only painful during activity, so it is easy to forget they need time to heal.
So I am finally taking it easy. In the meantime I will enjoy sharing these, and contemplating my 3rd trip.

With a busy schedule, I haven't given myself the time to go & explore, as I usually do. As this month ends I'm challenging myself to do better, to get back outside, to the places that make me mad and desirous. •

Dark Horse over Torres. My time lapse captures are all special to me, so picking out a favorite feels wrong, but damn if this isn't the most amazing night sky I've ever witnessed in my life. The stars were this bright. It was beautiful, magical, life altering - all the adjectives and more. I feel blessed to have been able to witness it, capture it, and now to share it. I watched it in person, and now have viewed it dozens of times, frame by frame, and I see something new in every instance. The first few times you watch, I encourage you to follow the Dark Horse across the sky. Try to convince me it isn't galloping (backwards!). I dare you. #archives
You can't pour into others unless your own cup is full. Waking up early to have some ME time was the biggest game changer in my life. Personally, I prefer morning walks with a mountain backdrop and my little dude by my side. But your morning can look however you want it to. Read, stretch, meditate... do anything you have to do to clear your mind and fill your soul. 🙏🏼❤️☕️
That sure is one heck of a classroom that @nat_burch12 has. These outdoorswomen from Clarkson University get to spend a whole semester immersed in the Adirondacks learning about sustainability, history, and so much more.
We’ll take that over sitting in lecture halls any day.

. Today we have a very special Mother Move Mountains feature! I was browsing through and saw Rochelle, her beautiful Family , and her Blogging Inspiration ☀️ I just had to Feature this Mama! . . .
Here is her story: I'm a casual hiker. I've always loved hiking and really fell in love with it when I hiked half dome in my 20s and it become a more regular outing for me and our family when we were living in Scottsdale, AZ. I wanted my children to fall in love with the desert landscape and outdoors in general so I started them on short easy trails. I started blogging about a year ago for a local mom's blog and wrote one post per month. Currently I'm working on my own blog: Homemade Handfuls, but I'm not interested in posting pictures of my kiddos and I don't know if I can swing a full time blog. I wanted it to be a blog about simple homemade crafts, recipes and adventures our family has and a place for me to just write and connect with other mamas with similar challenges and passions. I really enjoyed being a part of Blog with contributing writers and that's what I'm hoping to find again-We moved, so I wrote my last post for the local mom's blog last month

Running away from the crowds at Silver Falls! 😝 With the 50K coming up in November, Mack and I decided to check out the (very difficult to navigate without cones and trail markers) course this weekend. Thank you @gaiagps for keeping us from getting lost! Turns out there are some pretty sweet (and isolated!!!) singletrack trails outside of the obnoxiously busy waterfall trails. Getting stoked for our last race of the year! #icantbelieveistillhavetoenails 📷: @mackrobertson
As someone who doesn't purchase unnecessary items often, whether it be because I don't truly need it, I have something that's similar, or I realize there are more practical ways to spend my money, it was nice to splurge a little on things I've had my eye on for months (some years.) #cheersto26 🎉🎁
Day 1: It's 27 miles til the next reliable water source, welcome to the AZT!
12 hours of travel to the trail - out of bed at 4:30am, then on to the Redmond airport, a flight to Salt Lake City, a flight to St George, and then a 2.5-hour wait for a pre-booked shuttle that just... forgot to come get me, followed by a 2.5-hour ride to the middle of nowhere aka the Northern Terminus of the Arizona Trail. Hiked out right away, made it 7 miles before dark, quickly set up camp in the roaring wind, did a v bad job pitching my tent, ate two @pickybars for dinner, bundled up for the forecasted 35-degree overnight low and tried to mentally prepare myself to hike 20 miles to Highway 89A and then hitchhike (!) 3 miles to Jacob Lake to fill my water bottles tomorrow. But really I just can't believe I'm here and that this hike has finally begun and eek I'm cold and it's so windy and I'm all alone and coyotes are howling nearby and omg why are these my life choices again?? 🙄 But hey, at least I didn't cry today! Except okay I did cry a little while saying goodbye to my cats but that doesn't even count because who could possibly stare into such perfect tiny cat faces and try to walk away for 6+ weeks without crying?! Only a total monster could do that. And yes I will be digging holes for my poop from now on but I am not that kind of monster! ⠀⠀
Went on a 7-mile hike Saturday with mah girls. Got mad steps in, took in the fresh air, and saw some amazing views! Afterwards, we visited the vineyard at the base of the mountain for our pre-packed lunch and some vino. Today, I'll be using that wild woman feeling for my #mondaymotivation !
