Thanks everyone who chipped in to help me identify the bird on this lovely piece of sea pottery. I think you're right and that it is a crane! In Japan they are called the "birds of happiness." In art they symbolize good fortune and longevity because of its fabled life span of a thousand years. Making a thousand paper cranes is said to grant a wish.
#beachphotochallenge day 21: Haul 🎁
This was from last Sunday. I had better luck than usual at a "landfill" type beach where I don't find nice worn seaglass but I do find interesting things. So many cool finds over the weekend! 🔍
Some karako boy pottery, gashapon (plastic Japanese arcade toys), my first willow shard, a puzzling jadeite(?) swirl, some rarer-colored glass, possibly a shisa (lion-dog) statue face, Snoopy, and marbles! 😊
This was an unusually profitable day; so you can see my collection of pretty stuff is found over many, many trips to the beach. One typical photo represents the best of many hours of searching.
Bravery isn't always loud
It isn't always charging into a war screaming at the top of your lungs
And sometimes it is
Sometimes it's a text asking to catch up for coffee
Choosing to be brave and ignoring your insecurities
Sometimes it is working hard and studying hard because chasing after your dreams isn't always easy
It might be asking for help because we don't know everything
And a lot of times it is choosing to believe in yourself and speak life over yourself even when you aren't feeling very brave
Bravery is a choice - a hard one - but we as women need to lead the way for those coming
We need to lead with fearlessness and courage
We need to be fearless in believing in ourselves and others
We need to be courageous in our love for others
This is the area where I went missing from Age three years old
