Oh my! So much catching up to do. #adventbeercalendar days 5-12. Very impressed with my selections.
The day 5 sour is a great introduction to sours if you're curious about them - easy to drink, tropical-y, not super sour, slightly hoppy to balance it out... playing catch up with the beers, but @kumigd and I will share thoughts if you're curious!
2017 Celebration Fresh hop IPA by Sierra Nevada Brewery in Chico, CA and Mills River, NC is today's review. Malt bill contains Pale two-row and caramel malts with 6.8% ABV. Hopped with Chinook, Centennial, and Cascade with 65 IBU's. Packaged on 10/20/2017. Served at 48°F.
Overall Impression: This is a smoothly bitter, citrusy, resiny, and dry beer that is very drinkable. Hop forward but is not a pallet destroyer. It is very drinkable and refreshing. There is no harshness present and the dryness is perfect for food parings like pizza or cake desserts. Though it is hop forward it is balanced (with the malt) for the style.
I would definitely order another at a bar.
Aroma: Med-high grapefruit, pine, and orange. Moderate mango and floral (rose petal). Med-low apple, bready, and cracker .
Appearance: Pours deep copper. Large, antique white, frothy, and foamy head has very high persistence and a high amount of lacing.
Flavor: Med-high grapefruit and orange. Moderate resinous and pine. Has a smooth med-high bitterness. Med-low bread and cracker. Finish is a med-high dryness that has a med-high bitterness with moderate pine cinnamon, and resin with low onion.
Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation. Low alcohol warming.
When you can crack open day 2 of #bpadventbox with your fututre wife @nicoles2.0 and listen to a Miles Davis album your grandpa gave you that was released in 1961 back when he owned a record business. Now thats a #Celebration @sierranevada #freshhopipa#bitterpops
