Just a simple curve in the road made awesome by a drone's perspective! We love this #topdronepost by @backpackpassion 'Driving through the Thala Beach Nature Reserve with our campervan was quite fun. Already missing the time in Australia. 🏝💚🙌🏼'
Life is not measured by the breaths you take, but by its breathtaking moments. I wish I was back in Iceland right now, what about you? Where were you when you had the most breathtaking moment?

Similar to the rice fields in China or tea plantations in Vietnam, Portuguese hill villages are also full of rustic charm. To prevent landslides in the rainy season and to facilitate local farming they have built these terraces along the hill slopes. This is a common site along Douro and Vouga rivers where they produce and export beautiful wine. But here in Serra da Estrela national park it's a self-sufficient kind of living and small scale farming only. It is still very rustic and traditional and these places are under serious threat of desertification. The new wave of eco /rural tourism is what prevents these villages to become completely uninhibited. There are not many opportunities here for younger generations
Driving or hiking along these empty rural roads is extraordinary for its peacefulness, colors and dramatic views. The street network is actually pretty good. There are mainly narrow and curved hill roads but in ok paved condition and no traffic!! You can actually stop anywhere for a few minutes, take some photos and breathe in the fresh air. Here, tasting inexpensive home made tradicional food and wine is a must! IMO this is a traveler dream place 😉
