Oranges have been called a “perfect food” and contain an amazing array of healing vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and phytonutrients. They are high in vitamin C, vitamin A, B-complex vitamins, folate, beta carotene, lutein, and minerals such as calcium, magnesium, iron, and potassium. Oranges are very good for respiratory problems such as asthma or bronchitis and cardiovascular issues such as hypertension and COPD. Oranges act as an internal antiseptic to the body and have the ability to purify and strengthen all the organs in the body. Perhaps the parents were onto something…!!! As much as it pains me to say it.
After all those years of pestering and nagging…
I now reluctantly concede that they were definitely right!
And what were they right about?
You guessed it, eating fruit and vegetables is extremely good for you! Now this might not be a shock for most of you but government guidelines recently released suggest that 5 a day is no longer enough, and we should be aiming for a minimum of 10. Think ‘5 is Fine and 9 is Divine’ and you won’t go far wrong!
Research shows that fruits and vegetables are packed with cancer-fighting phytochemicals. Fruits and vegetables provide both soluble and insoluble fibre for better GI functions, help get rid of toxins, they help with decreasing bad cholesterol, help with maintaining better blood sugar levels, and so many other functions to help you live a healthier lifestyle.
So moral of the story? Eat those greens!

Sunday at the farm is definitely our favourite with the farm tour from 10am. The smell of fresh coffee and a bite to eat, not to mention taking home some organic fresh produce for the week ahead. Open 7:30-3:30pm

We have an abundance of premium kale Freshly harvested for the weekend, varieties; Tuscan, Curly Leaf and Red Russian with a very high Brix content (Nutrient density) up to 16 on the Brix meter. Supermarket conventionally grown Kale is approximately 6 on the Brix. This weekend all kale bunches are $3 dollars or if you purchase $30 or more you get a free bunch of kale.
