Let's do a little Myth Busting over the next few days!
There are a lot of shiny objects in the health and nutrition world. How does one pick what's going to work for them?!? I did a ton of research before I decided to really focus on getting healthy. Investing in Shakeology was a clear winner for me.
Over the next few days I want to share why I love my daily superfoods shake so much, and what it's really all about!
It's just a protein shake.
All shakes are not created equal, especially ones that contain superfoods, probiotics, probiotics, and digestive enzymes. Shakeology is a whole food nutrient-dense shake that can replace breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The majority of people are WAY MORE nutrient deficient than they are protein deficient. You would have to eat a whole lot of fruits and veggies to equal the nutrition in a single glass of Shakeology-and you probably couldn't do it for less than 170 calories! #mythbusting#mythbusters#shake#shakelife#fitmom#fitmum#healthyfood#healthylifestyle#breakfast#lunch#dinner#fruitsnveggies#daily#treatyoself#workingmom#workoutmotivation#notaproteinshake
Question: Can you fight off carcinogens while having a spaghetti dinner? Yes, of course! Turmeric is a bright yellow spice that is responsible for giving curry it's golden color. One of the many compounds in Turmeric is Curcumin – which has anti-carcinogenic properties that have been shown in vitro (in a test tube/needs clinical trials). No adverse effects have been shown from adding cooking amounts of turmeric to your diet. So go ahead and sprinkle some of the spice on sauces, soups, etc. For a better understanding of the pros and cons and who should and shouldn't add even more Turmeric to their diet (hint: pregnancy, gallstones, kidney stones) please go to nutritionfacts.org and search Turmeric to take a look at the first two video results (links in my bio) #HowNotToDie
Sure (@lidlus ) berries 🍓are pretty colors 😍and taste delicious 😋BUT do you know why they're good for us?? Dr. Michael Greger in #hownottodie tells us that Berries "... are second only to herbs and spices as the most antioxidant-packed food category...they average nearly 10 times more antioxidants than other fruits and vegetables" #deliciousandnutritious 💪🏻🙌🏻❤💙 @nutrition_facts_org
Going through this phase where all I wanna do is lay in bed and eat takeout again and this is how I feel , I hate it , and on nice weather days I feel like even more of a slob.
Time to see if I can get out of this rut starting tomorrow.
Quick shoutout to @naturespathorganic #Qi 'asuperfood #glutenfree oatmeal that is packed with things like chia, buckwheat and hemp all topped with my favorite spice - CINNAMON ... I use Ceylon (aka true) Cinnamon because of its low levels of coumarin. Visit nutritionfacts.org and search for Ceylon cinnamon to learn about the common types of cinnamon and why Ceylon is our safest option!

Happy Tuesday! *Not an ad/sponsored*. Let me tell you why Garden of Life is the only brand of meal replacement / shake that I buy:
✔ Tastes good. Initially, I did not like the taste of the stevia added to the product. However, after about a week of use I stopped noticing it all together! I've come to appreciate the stevia as I do not have to add that hint of sweetness for my kids as it is already "built-in". The unflavored version (good for fruit smoothies and protein balls) does NOT have added stevia.
Prep tip for kids: 1 frozen ripe banana, 8 oz of unsweetened almond or hemp milk, 1 scoop of powder. Blend well in high speed blender. Let sit about five minutes to let smoothie congeale. Doing so will cut down on the "gritty" taste.
✔Accredited. You want to make sure a legit independent third party has certified your product. This product is NSF certified! According to their website, "NSF certification programs are accredited to multiple international standards by national and international accreditation bodies, including ANSI and ANAB." (Visit their website for additional info.)
✔ Loads of plant based vitamins and minerals. Just check out the ingredients. Speaks for itself!
✔ Time / Breakfast saver. This is a pantry staple in my household. We wake up pretty early most mornings and sometimes can not stomach a hearty breakfast so early in the day. Additionally, the summer is upon us and this shake / meal replacement provides a cool and refreshing breakfast that fills you up without weighing you down.
🚫 No junk as with other brands. Frankly, drinking (or having your kids drink) some of the other popular brands of meal replacements / shakes is detrimental to your health. To me, it's like filling up your gas tank with gasoline that has been laced with turpentine. Yes, you are getting your gasoline (i.e. your protein, vitamins, etc.) But you don't need the turpentine (i.e. the added refined sugars, Omega-6 oils, NON organic soy, etc). .
Have you tried this brand of meal replacement / shake? What's your favorite flavor?
Thanks for reading and have a terrific Tuesday!
