Instead of beating myself up over it I got up at my usual time and smashed my gym workout 💕 today will involve loads of water and I've my bag packed with healthy foods to beat my bloat 👌

After every eye test does your doctor tell you that you need a stronger prescription. They say they want you to see your very best so you go with the higher prescription each time? The massive hundred billion dollar optics industry loves it. They keep you in ever increasing prescriptions, and tell you stories of some mysterious genetic "myopia illness". It's nonsense! In most cases your eyes are perfectly healthy! You hit the gym to strengthen your body but you also need to workout your eyes. Otherwise you will keep having to rely on higher more expensive prescriptions. Next time your doctor says you need a higher prescription, say you’ll stick with the same one. Then check out some of these methods to strengthen your eye muscles. 👀👀 Techniques to improve your eyesight
🙌🏼PALMING - relax the eyes and mind. 🙌🏼
How to palm: 
1. Close your eyes
2. Place the palms of your hands slightly cupped over each eye (left over left and right over right)…make sure there is no pressure on your eyeballs.
3. Open eyes… There should be no light coming through your cupped hands. Close your eyes. Try to palm for 10 minutes. 🌞SUNNING🌞
How to sun:
1. Close your eyes, and slowly direct the light to your face. If there is any discomfort, it means the light is too close and too bright at first. Pull the light back till its comfortable.
2. Slowly turn your head from side to side.
3. Sun for no more than 3 minutes.
4. Always palm after sunning! Palm until your field of vision is calm, or 'normal' for you. 🏋🏽‍♀️ EYE WORKOUTS (do each for 30 seconds then repeat each for a total of 10 minutes) 🏋🏽‍♀️
1. Shift eyes up, left, down and right…make circles
2. Do the same thing as #1 but with your eyes closed
3. Hold your finger about arm length away and slowly bring finger to nose then back out, follow finger with your eyes causing you to go cross eyed. 😎 PINHOLE GLASSES (like seen in image) 😎
These glasses can help relieve eye strain, fatigue, headaches and noticeably improve vision. Normal glasses encourage the eye to become lazy, the pinhole type encourage the muscles to become stronger, pulling the lens into the correct shape.

The day after Thanksgiving really makes me for one feel the need for a whole bunch of fresh fruits and vegetables. Here is a perfect breakfast for just that!
This golden omelette is stuffed with sautéed peppers and mushrooms, topped with scallion and cilantro, and served on a bed of garlicky Swiss chard👌🏾
Here’s a little secret ingredient I love adding to omelettes to easily up the protein; cottage cheese! This food is definitely one of those love it or hate it things. But even if you are on team ‘no love for cottage cheese’, whisking some into your eggs before cooking makes for a perfect way to benefit from it’s nutrition without tasting much of it at all except a cheesy flavor in the end product. Which can only be a good thing, amirite?
Add some nutrient dense carbs on the side like fruit or whole grain toast or a waffle, and you are good to go with a balanced, energizing, and fresh start to the day!💪🏼

It's simple really... ¤wake up, go to work, come home, eat supper, crush some energize, mix up some hydrate, press play¤.. 25 minutes a day. Easy peasy. Lemon squeezy (yep - I went there). This lifestyle has been my game changer. Do I still struggle with my anxiety? Mmm some days yep. Tonight a little bit. Do I still struggle with low moods? Sometimes yep. Again, tonight a little bit. 
BUT what has changed is what I do when I feel those moods coming on. I know getting my butt in gear and sweating is going to fix it like nothing else can. Sitting and feeling sorry for myself and creating all sorts of crazy tragedies in my head obviously doesn't work haha.. believe me. This girls brain can come up with some pretty gnarly things and then what? Things get worse. Perfect. NOT. 
So get up, push yourself, step out of your comfort zone. Because when I did, everything finally started to fall into place.

In Defence of carbs 🚲🏋️‍♀️🏃‍♀️
Maybe I am generation alien because I sure don’t eat like a caveman! 
Carbs work for you if you deserve them. 
If you have a demanding job where your brain is constantly on the ball using glucose to function then you will need sufficient carbs.  If you have high intensity trainings - you will need more carbs!  If your goal is performance then you will need carbs for fuel and glycogen for recovery.  With all the contradicting information out there no wonder it’s confusing.  Genetics and current health / body composition needs to be taken into account and daily lifestyle - activities.  Any athlete will already know that performance and training volume will suffer if the right nutrients plus energy (carbs!) are not appropriate.  Any diet that has a name or label is generic so therefore not precise for any individual. 
Second guessing just isn’t good enough when you want results. 
Your mood is a good indicator the balance is not right, also being injury prone or slow to heal while recovering from an injury is a sign the nutrition needs looking at.  Especially if the volume and intensity has been reduced to rehab/prehab level.  #rantover

Well you guys, I’d say today was a success for me. I was PRESENT with my family, I ENJOYED myself, I didn’t restrict, and feel very grateful for the life I am living. I have realized that there is SO much more to life than only the gym and how my body looks. Since talking to my therapist, my family, and rationalizing my own thoughts, it is up to me and only me to change my life. No one else is in control of what I do, what I think, or how I treat my body. I have the power to make my life the way I want it, change my training to and intake to aid in my recovery process, and I do not have to isolate myself on days like today or make up rules in regards to my eating. Today, I enjoyed all my treats toy saw on my story. I was so happy to eat this dinner with my family (roasted turkey + homemade cranberry sauce + cornbread dressing + stuffing). I spent time with my loved ones and wasn’t necessarily thinking about the gym or telling myself that I had to go and sneak some squats or pushups, anything along those lines. I pushed out the disordered thoughts telling me I binged when I got real dang full. Shoot, I am STILL full! 😂 Today was a day I definitely do not regret. I am struggling a bit with thinking I sat too much or didn’t train enough, but I know how irrational those thoughts are and am GOING to push past them. The food I enjoyed today are just going to give me that much more fuel for my training. I’m sure my body was in need for some sugars and fats. No lie. 🙅🏻

Dinner 🍵: Chicken barley soup! 1 garlic clove, 1 chicken breast cooked then chopped into small pieces, added onions, celery, carrots, Himalayan salt, ground pepper, 2 bay leaves and a pinch of oregano. Added a big bowl of my home made beef broth, and added about 4 cups of water with it. Let it simmer for about 10-15 minutes and rinse and add barley! -

What an amazing thanksgiving! I was able to spend it in Japan with my Okinawa family and back in the states the next day with my mom and sisters! So thankful for technology and the opportunity to live in a foreign country. And of course for my amazing family and friends! .

Update on hubby and I cooking a thanksgiving meal for the first time: Everything came out sooo freaking good 🤤 
BUT we somehow managed to cook our turkey UPSIDE DOWN 🙄🙄🙈😂😂😂😂 yeah... we felt pretty dumb.... Sometimes supper ends up being a smoothie, because really I don't feel like cooking and all I want are some greens to fuel my body this evening 🌱🍃so I made a smoothie for two with the following:
2 cups spinach 
2 mangoes, peeled and pitted (Ataulfo to be exact)
2 mandarin oranges, peeled
1 cup unsweetened full fat coconut milk
1 cup water
1 tbsp chia seeds
1/2 tsp spirulina powder 
Toss into your blender and blend on high! Supper made in less than 5 minutes 🤛🏻

SMOOTHIE LIFE 🍏🍓🥑🌿 I came across a women this week who told me that her 9 year old granddaughter is experiencing some food allergies and has decided to live a vegan and gluten-free lifestyle. She proceeded to tell me some of what she’s been eating: potatoes, sweet potatoes, fruit smoothies, all things made of corn, and any sweet packaged cereals labeled “gluten free”. Because there was no protein listen, I asked if she had ever considered using a vegan protein powder in her smoothies.  Her face suddenly looked horrified and confused.  She said “she’s only 9! She doesn’t need protein”. Here’s the super sad part: she proceeded to tell me that the biggest problem her granddaughter is experiencing is mood swings, feelings of depression, and loads of anxiety.  This just breaks my heart.

It’s often thought that protein is only needed for people who are tying to get jacked. It’s true, protein does help with muscle development, but it’s also a nutrient that helps to keep our mood and energy balanced through blood sugar management. A smoothie is often thought to be something we have just for fun, and loaded with fruit. But if we think about each meal as an opportunity to nourish our bodies(physically and mentally), then we can start adding the nutrients that keep us balanced: proteins + healthy fats and loads of green stuff. And it can still be just as delicious! 😋
Ps. I have tried loads of different vegan proteins! Let me know if you need any recommendations! This one 👆🏽is @gardenoflifecanada raw vanilla protein • 1/2 avocado • spinach • almond milk • @manitobaharvest hemp hearts • and a teeny bit of honey•🍯🥑🌿❤️
